No one could make you cry through a song better than Jim Henson. He made so many people’s childhoods, mine included, so happy and magical. The Muppets, and this world in general, have been and never will be the same without him.
I don't know if you believe in Christmas Or if you have presents underneath the Christmas tree But if you believe in love, that will be more than enough For you to come and celebrate with me For I have held the precious gift that love brings Even though I never saw a Christmas star I know there is a light, I have felt it burn inside And I have seen it shining from afar Christmas is the time to come together a time to put all differences aside And I reach out my hand to the family of man To share the joy I feel at Christmas time For the truth that binds us all together I would like to say a simple prayer That at this special time you will have true peace of mind And love to last throughout the coming year And if you believe in love, that will be more than enough For peace to last throughout the coming year And peace on earth will last throughout the year
I'm so glad others love this album as much as I do. My husband and kids make fun of me, but I know they'd miss it if they didn't hear it every year. Now my grandkids are listening, too. And when I'm gone they'll all think of me when they hear it. ;-)
My family's thinly veiled humor is filled with love every time I listen to the album and I strongly suspect yours is too. God bless you and your family not just at Christmas time but all year through.
This is the first John Denver Album I received from my parents as a child. I still listen to it every single year, and now my children listen to it on CD. This is one of the best Christmas albums out there. Both John and Jim are dearly missed every day, and may they be collaborating together in heaven. A truly wonderful and enduring song, filled with love and warmth. I just love this entire album!
"...and I reach out my hand to the family of man to share the joy I feel at Christmas time." That line gets me every time. Henson captured with such elegant simplicity what it's all about.
I have loved this song since I was a young child. I never knew where by beliefs would end up (I was quite involved in the church at the time). I am now an Agnostic and this song says it all. So beautifully written. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all lived by this song's message?
i will always think of my dad when i listen to this. he was born in 1975 and every year as a kid he listened to this album. he still does to this day, and we both sit together and cry. i will always think of you, dad. wether dead or alive.
This is one of my favorite songs Henakkah or Christmas it does not what you celebrate so much as what is In your heart. If you carry the love of Jesus Christ with you in your life and soul that is what matters.
I got this from my Mom on cassette when it came out. Now have it on CD and it’s DL on my phone. Still cry over hearing this song and album. A few reasons. 1 Both John and Jim are gone but left this awesome album and 2 cause my Dad died in 75 when I was 4 so it was my Mom and I for years, it will be sad when she dies.
I totally agree Jim Henson lead vocals for this song still to this day sends chills down my spine I was born in 1985 so as all little kids do the time I ever saw the Muppets was though Sesame Street then came the Muppet show
THE meaning behind the holiday. It was what Christ tried to teach us and every other spiritual leader that has come after, from Mother Teresa to Ghandi. Peace and Love. One cannot endure without the other.
Is it just me, but on the Muppets Christmas CD, I put "The Christmas Wish" and "Merry Christmas Little Zachary" in a "category" together. Something to do with the tunes.
I agree Jim will be Missed Dearly He gave the world the gift of Muppets He will be missed In closing Walt Disney was Mickey Mickey was Walt much the same With Jim he was the one and only Kermit And Kermit was Jim
no- I don't know about other songs but "The Peace Carol" was written by Bob Beers. He was a folk singer extraordinaire and performed with his wife Evelyne. They traveled for the State Dept, performed at many coffee houses and folk festivals and hosted a festival on their home grounds - "Fox Hollow Folk Festival" - in Petersburg, NY- near the Berkshire Mts.
This song was written by Danny Allen Wheetman, who was a long time member of John Denver's touring band. When the River Meets the Sea was written by Paul Williams. It was originally in the Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas special. It's in Everyone of Us was written by David Pomeranz. Baby Just Like You was cowritten Denver.
My school choir is learning this for Christmas :)

I don't know if you believe in Christmas
Or if you have presents underneath the Christmas tree
But if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
For you to come and celebrate with me
For I have held the precious gift that love brings
Even though I never saw a Christmas star
I know there is a light, I have felt it burn inside
And I have seen it shining from afar
Christmas is the time to come together
a time to put all differences aside
And I reach out my hand to the family of man
To share the joy I feel at Christmas time
For the truth that binds us all together
I would like to say a simple prayer
That at this special time
you will have true peace of mind
And love to last throughout the coming year
And if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
For peace to last throughout the coming year
And peace on earth will last throughout the year

I've loved it since it came out, when I was just a little, 11 year old boy. I watch the old special he did with Ms. Piggy and the gang; every year.
🎄🥰

I was not suppose to cry through this! Jim Henson the world will never be the same without you. :(

Been listening to this record since i was a little kid in the 80s.
I miss jim henson
Merry Christmas everyone
Same here. Merry Christmas to you as well! ❤️
Only Jim Henson can sing this song and make people cry I'm fighting back tears while trying to type
Same. Almost every time I listen to this song and him singing "I Don't Want to Live on The Moon"
The singer was John Denver, not Jim Henson, the creator of The Muppets.
@@Me-er9ix, No that’s’Kermit’, so that’s Jim Henson 😊
Wouldn't be Christmas at our house without John Denver and the Muppets...and this song... :) Merry Christmas!!
0:35 "but if you believe in love
that will be more than enough
for you to come and celebrate with me"
incredible line
Best Christmas album ever. One of my favorite tracks.
Out of all the songs in the world, this one speaks to my heart the most.
One of my favs..🌲💜🌲💜🌲💜

i feel weird for crying, but i am.
Brings back memories. Oh, wow....so many memories. My children now have children who listen to this album. Except now it is on an OLD CD.
I loved this song by Kermit and John Denver such a great Christmas song the muppets where my childhood loved this Christmas album and still do
Kermit singing The Christmas Wish is the best
This song is just the Xmas version of Margaritaville. It's hilarious.
This is so damn beautiful.
Still resonates!!!
you know its jim henson singing, but all that runs through your mind is a little green frog. and it'll be like that till the day i die.
there is just something about Jim Henson singing that cuts though my bad day at work and make it better
I totally agree Jim Henson lead vocals for this song still to this day sends chills down my spine I was born in 1985 so as all little kids do the time I ever saw the Muppets was though Sesame Street then came the Muppet show
loved these songs since i was a kid, wasn't christmas w/o 'em
This is awesome.
had this on 8 track loved it as a kid still do
Joshua DiMaggio - I did as well. Now I have the CD and it’s on my iPod so I can listen in the car all year long.
Awesome song! Love the lyrics!
I love this song!
Jim Henson is a saint.

I am not sure there is a song that more completely encapsulates Jim Henson
I agree Jim will be Missed Dearly He gave the world the gift of Muppets He will be missed In closing Walt Disney was Mickey Mickey was Walt much the same With Jim he was the one and only Kermit And Kermit was Jim
Классная песня
this song does exactly the same thing to me, tehpixie
Love Kermit
The opening to this song is the exact same chord progression from Eric Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight'.
This, Wonderful Tonight, and Margaritaville are all the same song.
Did John Denver write all the original songs on this album?
