I have a question: So when we begin this roster - do we download the 64/65/66 combined DC? After the first season and moving into the next season which would be 1965 - do we then down an Automated DC for the next 2 season until we get to the 67/68/69 DC?
That's a good question. Probably should've talked about it in the video. Start with the compressed draft for sure. As for random drafts, you could do that, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're willing to do some heavy draft class editing and league management. The 1964 roster, as I created it, has a depth problem because teams that didn't exist are full of aging replacement level players. The compressed drafts are, by design, very rich in talent to help fill out the league. Randomly generated players can fill the same void, but 2k's random drafts are weird with the attributes and the players will look out of place. Nothing an hour of editing can't fix, but if you're not up to it, I would definitely recommend using one compressed draft after another, year over year, until 1994. That's how I've been playing it and it's been good so far.
@@itgksports Thank you for the response - going by calculations (I could be wrong) - but if I did one DC after another such as 1964 would be 64/65/66 and then year 1965 would be 67/68/69 and so on - by the time I get to 1973 I would already have used the compressed DC’s - not sure what I would do because the next DC in line would be 1984 and I’m supposed to only be in reality 1973 Any advice? Also - when the courts start to change - is there a creator that has 1970’s or 80’s courts to plug in to try and keep it as nostalgic as possible? One more question: Would changing the age of the great players on the original roster mess things up so that Russell and Wilt can gather hall of fame stats like the new rookies coming in?
@@lancekopper777 The timeline is super compressed, but it's that way on purpose. The original idea was to use every compressed draft in order 10 years in a row and then immediately pick up with the uncompressed ones, of which 1994 should be the first year. That would be the 11th year of your league instead of 1984. Once I get the compressed draft classes done I'm going to start on the 1984 roster and uncompressed draft classes for those that don't want to have to deal with the jank. If you start in 1963-1964, then you just use the compressed drafts and then 1994, 95, 96 and so on. 2k will auto update the courts from the 1984 ones as you go forward. There are probably some oldschool designs, but I don't know of any creators who've created those old designs in particular. I've also never changed the designs in an eras league, don't know if 2k would continue to change them if you rebranded. If you do find a creator with good designs let me know so I can recommend them. And finally, yeah. One of the downsides of creating the roster the way that I did is that stars in their primes, or even at the end of their careers, will not have any historical stats. You can reset their ages to be younger and give them longer careers with bigger counting stats, but that also means you get them in the league even longer still. You won't hear me complaining about more Wilt Chamberlain, but they'll also be pre-prime which means 2k will try to increase their attributes and badges every year until they hit their primes again. What I would recommend in that case is that you age them down one year at the start of every season for a few years until you feel it's sufficient.
A 1976-1977 Roster is already up on 2k. It's not mine, but I don't plan on making a 70s roster this year anyway, so I would try using that. Maybe in another 2k I'll work on a 70's roster, just not this year.
ITGK - you're missing a couple of guys in the late draft classes - Kevin Willis, Shaq and Alonzo Mourning for starters - any chance you'd add them? I'm loving this
Kevin Willis was an honest mistake, he wasn't on my list for some reason. Shaq and Zo aren't the only ones missing from '92 now that I look at it. My guess is I was so excited to get the last one finished that I just didn't double check my work. I'll let you know when I fix it, hopefully soon. I'm busy today so it might be a couple of days.
I've thought about it, actually started a couple of times. But there's so much more work involved in an NFL roster and NFL Draft classes. If I ever did try this, I'd probably start in either 2002 (Texans Expansion) or in 1970 (NFL - AFL Merger) There is a 2012 roster mod for Madden 24 PC, and PS5 has a 2005 roster. You could look into those if you want a retro football fix.
@@itgksports yeah there is a lot that goes into it I tried making one in the 1960’s because there was only like 12 nfl teams. And then I was going to make compressed nfl draft classes like you did for 2k. I think it would be a great idea the madden community would love it
