I grew up and still attend the Church of Christ. I truly believe without that upbringing I would have never been able to sing harmony. Harmony is just natural to me as my ear has been tuned to it since I was a kid. And of course, the blessing of the Lord for the talent he bestowed upon me!
I was in Church of Christ up to age 10 and no other church ever had a cappella singing and ever since I always missed the singing, by far that was the highlight of every Sunday for me. I still know about 200 hymns and gospel songs from those days.
This is the kind of church music I grew up with. Although we had a piano because we were Baptists, my best friend was Church of Christ and we used to discuss the philosophical and theological differences between the two churches. I never realized how beautiful singing could be without musical instruments until I watched Let The Bible Speak about a year ago. Now I can appreciate my friend's perspective much better.
I've also been a song leader in the Church of Christ from my teen age years, about age 16, till now at my age of 61. Enjoyed it much. This congregation sings from the heart, acapella, just as our LORD commanded (Eph 5:19 & Col 3:16, etc. ) I plan to get the CD from them to enjoy and sing along. I thank the church wherever this is located for doing these grand old much loved hymns and making them available. Such a very fine job you good brethren have done, a great service to us all. Brotherly & gratefully,
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for dying for us sinners - so we can go over Gloryland ` "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures: And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures" 1 Cor.15:3-4
I love all types of CHRISTIAN music from High Church to modern Praise and Worship, but I must say that this is incredible! Amateurs that sing with passion and blend SO SMOOTHLY! Folks, this is EXACTLY how this song should be sung.
This is and the other videos recorded of the group gathered on this occassion are very inspiring. Such good singing for a relatively small gathering. The participants seem inspired to sing out. Thanks for sharing this.
Just beautiful...sounds like a little slice of Heaven. We sing Acapella at my church as well. Our voices lifted up to the LORD are our instruments. :) I agree with 'fedupwithccm's comment. :)
Good 4 U , sweetheart! Just make sure 2 get laid a couple of times while U r getting your musical training. May help your sense of dynamics, and rhythm.
Clearly, there is a song leader present because the people are looking at him and following his direction. These people have been taught to read music and sing - if you listen, you can hear all four parts of the music.
I wrote the address here trying to get a CD of this but have had no reply. Does anyone here know how I can get the CD of this fine congregation's singing for play in my car? Thanks much.
Lyrics I’ve a home prepared where the saints abide, Just over in the glory land; And I long to be by my Savior’s side, Just over in the glory land. Refrain: Just over in the glory land, I’ll join the happy angel band, Just over in the glory land; Just over in the glory land, There with the mighty host I’ll stand, Just over in the glory land. I am on my way to those mansions fair, Just over in the glory land; There to sing God’s praise and His glory share, Just over in the glory land. What a joyful thought that my Lord I’ll see, Just over in the glory land; And with kindred saved, there forever be, Just over in the glory land. With the blood-washed throng I will shout and sing, Just over in the glory land; Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King, Just over in the glory land.
i have a question i am wanting to know what cd i can find this song on and how many songs are on this cd and where can i find this cd at if you can give me all this information that would be great thanks
Not sure where you're at geographically... but if you can, search out & find an old conservative Mennonite church. They will use the Christian Hymnary (Anabaptist mostly) and sing a capella. Amish-Mennonite, Beachy Mennonite, churches would be "conservative" as I'm using the term. Be prepared to sing in four part harmony!
This is the church congregation. The Church of Christ does NOT have a choir or special singers ever. Each congregation is taught to sing the parts of the music as written and without accompaniment.
@fedupwithccm that's horrible! Many Seventh-Day Adventist churches sing hymns just like this one you should go and check out your local Adventist church! God bless you :)
Gee whiz, I thought for a while I was the only one out here with that opinion. I'm about sick of going to church for the purpose of having someone try to impress me with their vocal gymnastics and hot gee-tar licks. If I wanted entertainment, I would have stayed home and turned on the TV.

You ought to hear this in a congregation of 500+!

This takes me back to my childhood. I'd love to hear "Lead Me Gently Home" done like this, just one more time.

As do I. :) Nothing like some good gospel singing, worshiping God in spirit and truth. (Jn. 4:24)

Is there a Church of Christ over your way? If so, there you will find worship like this, the way its meant to be ;) God bless!
I am a songleader in the church of christ. I don't see a songleader in this congregation but they do very well without one.
I'm going to Lee University to be a Minister of Music in the Church of God.

i have a question i am wanting to know what cd i can find this song on and how many songs are on this cd and where can i find this cd at if you can give me all this information that would be great thanks
almost reminds me of the golden harp sining in Missouri.

A Mennonite church and the Church of Christ are not synonymous! The teachings are completely different.
is this a choir or are these just church attendants

Beautiful singing but the pitch drops as the song continues.
@fedupwithccm Search for your local Church of Christ, good luck with your search I think you will find what you are searching for.

That is an absolute terrible shame!
