Excellent video James! I been watching you for years and have always found your videos to be suburb. I'm an 82 year old man who in my younger days, 60 years ago became intrigued with the Ercoupe. Keep up the good work. You have a great family.
My father Dennis, learnt to fly on ercoupes at Biggin Hill in 1966. G-ARXS was one of them. He then bought a Chipmunk G-APPM which he said was great, although he said it was noisy and leaked oil! Regards Roger.
My father Dennis learnt to fly in ercoupes at Biggin Hill in 1966. G-ARXS. He then bought G-APPM a Chipmunk which he flew in the Kings Cup air race of 67. He said it was great but it was noisy and leaked oil! Kind regards Roger.
Yes, always fighting for altitude, the mountains, (Sierra’s no less?), water below, no place to land safely, add to the adventure. Then of course, afternoon flying when the sun sponsored winds begin to add to the experience? What I like about you is the fact that you are able to recognize dangerous or questionable situations for yourself & simply abort or move on, (not making a second landing in this case)? You are conservative, yet flexible in your thinking while still testing a particular flight & the envelope to learn. Best to you. Rola
M45 was exceedingly beautiful before the fire and a fun go-to for us based at Minden. Good to see the Taildragger cafe getting your love. The coupe is looking mighty fine. Thank you for such a pleasant video.
Perfect timing James-- Great new video to watch with morning coffee! Thanks for the interesting Sierra flight "ride along". You captured some spectacular shots. Love the Tahoe area, we had a family reunion in Incline Village once upon a time.
Sailplane flying is fantastic there too. I've circled the entire lake, then a leg over to Truckee Lake, and back to Minden. (Douglas County airport). Excellent Ercoupe, beautiful!
Good to see another video with you and the ercoupe ! I just got back from breakfast with the guys. No flying today, too windy here in the Antelope valley, so we drove out the Fox for a nice time. Clouds coming in over TSP and on the way back noticed snow had fallen on the south slopes of the mountains on the north side of the valley. Winds at LOO were 21 gusting to 36 with an OAT of 46 at 07:30... Thanks very much, Enjoyed the video, as always. Warm Greetings, to all, Ron
I always enjoy your videos and look forward to them. Was hoping that I might run into you at the EOC Convention in Ottawa, KS this year. I drove over and visited during the convention. I still own my 172 but there is just something about Fred Weick’s creation that keeps me wanting one.
Sir James just love your videos, keep up the good work! I got my ppl in high school at the tender age of 18 here in Denver Colorado and did a fair amount of mountain flying one learns about density altitude flying in short order!! Ive flown 20 to 30 mile distances with no place to land, nothing but trees, rocks, and steep moutain sides, one pays real close attention to the engine gauges, and sound!! Happy flying and take care my friend!!
I just bought my first airplane May 4, 2024. 1946 Ercoupe. Look forward to meeting you sometime hopefully at Oshkosh along with other Ercoupe owners. I am sure I will have tons of questions.
Outstanding as usual. Between the wonderful cinematography and the history/geography lesson as we fly along, every flight is an adventure. Obviously, you have the larger engine, How many hours since the last annual? Interested in seeing the upcoming annual and what you find? I used to put all my hardware in zip lock bags during my annual, but I like your use of the small paper cups. Stole a couple of my wife's muffin pans to keep it all organized.
Thank you! I think I had about 80 hours on the Coupe this year, not very many really. But we did put about 60 on the Warrior as well. Nothing really urgent to do from this year's annual, thankfully. I've got a few non-urgent things I can work on though (the brake pedal is not aligned correctly, and the nose gear could do with a rebuild), throughout the year. Will try and put a quick video up on the annual this year.
Loved the video. I’ve done a lot of flying in the Tahoe area and miss it. I lived there for 32 years. When you pronounce “Nevada”, the first “a” is like the word “had”. Nevadans get mad when you pronounce it wrong. 😊
Hi James, It's Marilyn Douglas Withner from ATA. I've been enjoying your youtube channel for years and love that you are happily flying your Ercoupe!! I just saw your new post and wanted to make sure that you had heard that George Mikelsons passed away last Friday at the age of 87. He made a huge impact in my life and I wanted to make sure that you knew. Take care!!
Hey James!!! I’d absolutely love to get a video of a flight to Chester airport at lake almanor if you ever get up there. I vacation there annual and would absolutely love seeing a flight into that airport!
G,day James from Sydney Australia. Fantastic video, for sure. Some really beautiful mountains, not to mention "flying" into that Helo construction operation and the high elevation airport. Q. What is the small white electronic box on the panel in the (Ercoup) Air Coup? Blue skies slight breeze 🌏🇦🇺
Always a pleasure to 'fly' with you! However I missed your usual prelim map view of your route. A page from my 'gutted' atlas is scarcely an adequate substitute to follow your course.
Hey Neville. You're right, I should have included those route charts. I've uploaded the charts, and a Google Earth file of the route, to my Patreon site: www.patreon.com/posts/ercoupe-to-103831567?Link&
Very fun….i see a new mascot. The Jeep. I also see a ponytail in your future. Just don’t do a man bun. (-: Hey..do you know where those fuel gauge blades came from on your caps ? I’ve not seen them before. Hello to all. Joe.
Still learning... But as a rough rule, if I see winds at 10K' of 20KTS or more, I won't venture over the mountain. I generally pick very calm days to go. I know winds perpendicular to the ridge are worse. What about yourself?
@@JamesGood 15-20 knots depending on the wind direction relative to the ridges and the steepness of the lee side. Steep drop offs seems to be the worse which I lower the wind limit. Best, pick calm days with wide isobar spacing.
did a flight review with a guy in his ercoupe once. he couldn't understand why i insisted on waiting till after dark. finally told him i didn't want anybody to see me!
Nicely done James, beautiful and scenic.
Woohoo! James is back with a new Ercoupe flight!

what a lovely dialog and video ... thanks for making these videos - they are super ...
Well, thank you for letting me know! I appreciate the feedback. :)
Awesome. Been to Markleeville, but never saw the airport. This will be cool.👍👍👍
Great video James. Love your beautiful aircraft. Puts my 62 yr old 172 to shame.
Another great evening when you sit down and see James has just posted a new one! As always great interesting video. Appreciate you 👍
Great videography of that helicopter putting down the seed bucket, the timing of panning down was perfect 👌

I do hope to try that someday as well, must be amazing.
Only flew one Ercoupe - Vermont to Texas. Great trip in a pretty cool little airplane.
You really do wonders in that Ercoupe.

Hey Ron, yes, sounds like a good day to stay on the ground. Wasn't too bad here today, but yesterday was a definite no-fly-day.
@@JamesGood Nice well narrated video,,,thanks again ! Well I sure hope it settles down before winter...Lol ! All the Best, Ron
Ahh, that was excellent Jim! Meditative. Felt like I was along for the flight. Weather looked perfect (apart from that gust).
Thanks matey!
Excellent video, flight and scenery! Thanks for sharing.
Another superb video James. I can never get enough of that spectacular scenery...or that immaculate polished Ercoupe. Cheers!
Wonderful. Keep flying for those of us who can't! Stay safe.
So beautiful as always. Thanks, James.
Nice video, enjoyed it, thanks!
This is a great channel!

Nice...I would love to come out west to fly, but alas, I'm older and it's time to sell my plane. Good luck on your annual James.
What a nice flight to take. Good to see the old plane is still holding up.
Absolutely love your videos.
Thanks so much!
James, your are correct the RR passes under Lake Mary and Mount Judah
Nicee video James. I'll certainly put GOO on my list of excursions sometime, maybe see you there.
As ever James - well flown, well shot, well narrated.
Beautiful scenery.
Take care, and hopefully see you one day?
Great episode! That looks like a cool spot up there...
Beautiful imagery, thank you.

again great! Very impressiv how you mounteneers all handle density- and pressure altitude! In the flat most of the pilots neglect these facts.
A new Ercoupe video!
Beautiful videos! Thanks James!!
Glad to see you are back. I hope the annual went well.
Beautiful flight. Thanks for sharing. Amazing views.

I'll try and get one together soon.
thanks for uploading

Thanks! That's a GPS an ADS-b In receiver, and AHRS unit. It provides data to my iPad for traffic, GPS and attitude information.

There must be something about the ercoupe that creates calm, somewhat poetic pilots.
:) Thank you! That's a very nice thing to say.
Cool videos James! Are you going to Oshkosh this year?
How about an RV 12 update?
OK, I will do one!
Hey James, Love your videos esp the xcty to OSH. Anyway, what kind of mic are you using when your voicing over the video?
Thank you! I use a Yeti X USB microphone for the voice overs. I know I need to get an 'anti-pop shield'.
@@JamesGood Your audio was outstanding! Thanks for the information.

Hey Joe. I don't know where those fuel cap dips came from, but I'd really miss them if they weren't there. Definitely no man bun! ha!
When the world is going to hell, just watch any James Good videos!
What do you consider your maximum winds at the ridgeline before not flying?

wow over the lake ! hope you carry life jackets and put styrofoam in the plane dear sir you are an amazing pilot very inspired peace mikee d
Its always weird seeing the mountians i live in on youtube.
Flighing over the mountains and thick forest in a single engine plane.. in the winter. If that motor quits, they won't even find you.
You pay the ticket, you take the ride. Or just stay home...
