This plot is kind of gross. He blames his wife for making him someone he is not when he is the one responsible for his own choices and decisions. I think we all romanticize returning to our youth and what could have been, but the reality is that none of us were our 'true selves' at 18 - we were just more carefree.
There was a Twilight zone ep that was like that. Except in the TZ ep, the lady was left behind. And she knew that when he came back, he'll be only a few years older, while she would have aged 60 years. So, she was heart broken. But they somehow got the government to put her in suspended animation so she wouldn't age when he came back. But when the irony was he thought she would be sad about him being young when he came back, so he kept skipping the suspended animation sleeps, living an actual 60 years onboard so he would match her age when he returns. Awkward reunion ensues. 😞
Great story, the moral would be that no matter what you need to conserve your time on Earth. I am a true believer that there isn't only one person out there for you. It just feels like it for some happily married couples.
That was a great Recap!!! Thank you. The Jack character kept reminding me of a young Edward Burns, but the actual actor's name is Todd Grinnell. The title of the film is The Time Capsule. I kept trying to figure out who Jack's wife was because she reminded me of Kristin Davis from Sex in the City. The actress who played Maggie is named KaDee Strickland who actually has blonde hair in real life, so that threw me for a loop.

What the hell is so wrong with a 40 or 50 year old man having a 20 or 21 year old partner. I have had many girlfriends decades youngers, and it suits us well. Nice Story but if I were him, I'd take her at 18. This idea that we should be with someone the same age was brought to us by feminists, spinsters, and left over women. At 30, a woman is damaged goods probably a single mom or worse, a foster mother. No one wants a woman that's been ran through by a train of men. Choo choo! She's probably picked up some bad habits along the way too. Or worse, she still bears the scars of previous relationships. Not only that, women don't take care of themselves the older they get. At some point they don't even try, preferring short or bobbed hair, and gain quite a bit of weight. Meanwhile, men at the same age are at their prime both physically and financially. No take your old high school girlfriend and keep her.
Jack is such a daddy but it kinda looks creepy for him to pursue a relationship with a so much younger girl. Same when genders are reversed. I mean it's not bad but kinda feels wrong
There isn't anything immoral about it. But logistically it usually doesn't add up. 2 differing maturity levels often clash. I used to have tons of fun with my late teen and early 20s daughter and her friends when I was in my 40s, but no way I'd date or marry someone on that maturity level.
