Thats awesome man i hope they go well! No problem im glad you like them! 😁
Max, I have really been enjoying your how-to videos, very informative, please keep them coming. I feel I have to mention shop safety though. I am not the safety police, and God knows I have made my fair share of bone-head moves in the shop. I would highly recommend checking out some videos on how to make safe cuts on your table saw, I know Stumpy Nubs has some good videos on this. Watching you make those free handed cuts on your table saw made me very nervous as I have had a board kick back on me before on a table saw. The table saw used to always scare me a little until I watched some good safe practices videos from some experts. Now I am much more careful and confident that I am not putting my body parts in harms way. Keep up the great work, and please keep all your digits safe!
Thank you very much Brian! I definitely cant argue with you that i could be a bit more careful! Ill have to check out some of those videos because loosing body parts doesnt sound very exciting. Thanks again man!
That is 100% true, we've all been there. Woodworking is my #1 passion, I would hate to injure myself in such a way that prevents me from doing it anymore. Check out "Steve Ramsey - Woodworking for mere mortals" he also has some excellent tips.
great job, i made one with 1 by 4’s, acouple months back, no white, i like yours with the white, good job.
Thank you very much!
Another one lol, so the Frog tape is that good where you don't use the razor blades anymore? Thx
Food coloring works to
How to you get cleaner stars on the flag? I noticed some of them are a little hazy
Nice job but I would have made the stripes in correct direction of the star. The OCD in me.
Thank you! Haha i understand
If the flag is hung correctly in the vertical position like in the shape of the cross the stars are located correctly.
@@MaxF01 You did the stars correctly here.
Very cool. I’ve been wanting to do one of these but with using the small union stencil. Just need to figure out dimensions
Thank you! Hmm that one almost might work with a 1x2 or 1x3. For this one i pretty much just did what the size of the normal flag would be (37" by 19.5") so you could probably do the same for the small one and then it would just be a matter of how wide the board would have to be in proportion to the hight and width of the cross. And for the location of the horizontal piece on the cross, its just wherever the bottom of the stencil would be so in the case of the small one it would be 7 inches. If you would like i could try make one with the small union and see how it goes.
@@MaxF01 thanks for the input. I will definitely try it out. I went and got the union stencils after i saw you make the small flag and have loved using them.
@@jhroche75 no problem man i wish you the best! I love using them too they make some awesome projects!
hey, this might help out a bit, www.inchcalculator.com/american-flag-size-proportions-calculator/
Nice work dude 😎 ✝️ 🇺🇸
Thanks a lot dude! 😎🙏🏼🇺🇸
I love your design. But, shouldn't the union be on the right side?
Thank you! I believe then the flag is vertical the union is still supposed to be on the right side
Great Job But You Do Realize The Red Stripes Are Running The Wrong Way. They Should Run Left To Right Instead Of Top To Bottom, But Still Looks Sharp.
Get job!!
Thank you!!
Oh also, once you spray over the union stencil, do you keep or dispose of them?
I keep them, i havent done too many with the spray paint but i think they will work for quite a few times before they get too much paint on them
Very good from Pastor Bobby Anderson
Thank you very much!!
Considering that America is the beast who helps the beast who is the last power to be the most powerful beast this is like crazy.
...wut
@@2b1blessed that's what...not wit.
Hey Max, I am truly enjoying your videos and am learning quite a bit. I do have a question. Maybe it is my OCD but do you have any people complaining to you about the stripes not running the correct direction? Meaning, if I am seeing this correctly, the union is in the top right corner of the flag, instead of the top left like it should be. Maybe I am overthinking this, but I was curious if I am the only one that sees it this way.
Either way, great idea and nicely done.
Thanks a lot Michael!! So I believe when you hang a flag vertically the union would still go in the top left corner, if i were to turn it horizontal then it would definitely be wrong but with it vertical i think this is correct but i could be wrong. But anyways thank you for the feedback I appreciate it!! 😁🙏🏼
What’s the trick on getting the runs out of stain?
Why would you make the stripes vertical? Nice job other than the orientation of the stripes.
Lowes no longer carries that Minwax clear tint base. Some Lowes stores no longer even have the True Blue and Scarlet (and other colors as well) color codes in their computer systems.
I found the blue pre mixed at Lowes. Minwax solid stain.
That's TIGHT
Stripes going the wrong way and if you hang it the other way the field is backwards
good job, note, stars should be last thing you do an just spray just alittle spray glue on template, makes it place down better, no bleed at all.
Thank you and thanks for the advice! I actually just tried that spray glue on a project and it worked great!
@@MaxF01 i learned it from someone else, i make patriotic crosses and flags
@@mtz3843 is the glue residue East to get off when you remove the stencil?
@@tomcampbell1506 yes an if there is some still on it just take a soft rage with alittle bit of mineral spirts on it an wipe it off, i do it all the time, but you can also just place wooden stars on it too, i do that also.
@@mtz3843 good idea with the wooden stars. Can you send me a pic of one of yours? My children serve and I’d like to make them this cross. Thomascsm1@hotmail
Looks great but aren't the stars in the wrong position with regards to the stripes?
Thank you! I think when a flag is turned vertical the union is still supposed to be on the left
Oh, good to know thank you.
Did you add any tint to the base on white. Or is that the color you get straight out the can?
It is tinted to white, i think its just clear in the can before adding any tint to it
@@MaxF01 ok thanks I paused the video and noticed it said clear. the can i saw at home depot says "white" not clear as the base.
@@hectorfernandez1403 ohh i see, hopefully they have the clear in stock! Good luck to you man 👍🏼
Hey Max thx, good vid. Did u try the Harley idea I had? Lotsa bikers and clubs in Phx
Thank you very much! I have not yet but i should give it a try! I even have some orange stain now that i used for a different project
Hey Max, so I've noticed on some of your projects you are spray painting the stars white instead of carving them out...are you tired of carving? lol
Haha some of them it just makes more sense to like on the metallic flag but the carving does make my wrist and hand cramp up pretty bad so its not something im super excited to do, i should try and get the hang of using the router attachment or something to make it easier because i do really like the look of the carved ones
I ordered Red, white and blue stain from That Spirit company off Amazon that used the yellow from in the dont tread on me flag, BUT i noticed u dont use anything but their yellow, is there a reason I shouldn't use their other colors or ????
The only reason i havent tried there other colors is because i already have the ones in the cans but i have been thinking i should order them and give them a try because some people arent able to find the red white and blue at their home depots or lowes so it would be nice to have an online option, im sure they will work out great, i really like the yellow so the others will work out im sure
@@MaxF01 can u check ur Instagram on the Gadston flag post, I’m CaptainMerica1776 , I have something I want to get to u but need a DM for details😎🇺🇸
How much do you charge for those and your flags?
Im sorry i dont really sell them i just do it for more of a hobby
Do you sell these?
Not really i just do them for more of a hobby and enjoy making the videos
I would like to purchase one, if you are able to make one and send to me.
What were the dimensions for the wood cuts again?
For the longer piece its 37” with the notch cut starting at 14 3/4” down and then use the short piece to mark the other line. Then for the shorter piece its 19 1/2” with the notch starting at 7 1/2” over from either side and then use a piece to mark the other line. Hopefully i explained that good enough
Thanks, I love your work.
What size stencil did you use? I have several sizes
@@bradallen7986 the biggest one, i believe it is 10.5” x 14.75”
@@MaxF01 do you have somewhere i could send a pic of the one I made?
Ok is it just but are the strips going wrong way by a real flag
I see what your saying and when i was making it i was trying to decide which side i should put the union on since the flag is turned to the side and after looking a little on the web at different flag stuff it seemed it wasn't uncommon for the union to still be on the left side when the flag is turned sideways. For instance the shirt i am wearing in the thumbnail is the same setup
Looks amazing
@@trkpacman thank you very much!
No the flag is not turned wrong flag code states when hung the union is top left corner. CONGRATS ON PUTTING IT RIGHT
100th
Why not use pocket screws and save yourself alot of time?
Thats definitely something you could do
I don’t know how y’all stand using bench top tools on the floor it kills my back
Dimensionally the flag is not correct and its flying the wrong way. I enjoyed your techniques and making suggestions that almost anyone can make one with very few tools.
I like the video BUT you used a paint 5 in 1 tool (or 6, maybe) to chip out the waste wood. This unacceptable. You 'multitasked' (or tool rather) when you could have spent $100+ for a good shoulder plane. Remember, any escuse to buy a tool tool means you should buy a tool....
Thanks man! Hahaha your absolutely right. I broke the mans code of tool buying. Heck i should have bought a new miter saw too!
28 thumbs down? now we have pegan liberals over here haha, i just cant with people
Big no-no the way you’re using that table saw
Damn stop being a Karen.
Why?
@@Ces999919822 if you have to ask why then you shouldn’t be around a saw
