Robin Hood Everything You Missed (disney)

- Prince John the 1st, known as Prince John the worst! He actually was a pretty scummy king, but Disney's movie Robin Hood was not scummy. This was often my favorite Disney movie growing up, because as kids we always changed our minds, and sometimes it was Peter Pan, but it was usually one of the two.
There are a lot of fun facts, trivia, easter eggs, and bloopers that's in the movie the Robin Hood. I'm sharing most of the ones I know in a video for you here today. I say most because the video is already over 15 minutes long and I'm not gonna Shane Dawson you into an eight hour series to tell you everything I learned about Robin Hood. Just the best parts. What can I say, except your welcome, your welcome. Haha
On a serious note, I want to use the platform I've been blessed with to bring your attention to World Vision, a non profit organization that's doing amazing things every day all around the world to help people in need. They don't care skin color or gender or belief, they are simply trying to help those in need, and they are doing a great job. You can find out more about World Vision here:

Anyways no one even reads this part of the video anyways right? If you're still reading this leave a comment saying "Did you know easter eggs can fly?" - Розваги
About the 'snake balloon' thing, remember that he is a government official, so he is 'full of hot air'. lol
I pulled three coins out of my pocket.
HOW DID DISNEY PUT A HIDDEN MICKEY IN MY PANTS!?
Disney tries to put a hidden Mickey in everyone's pants.
Disney tries to put easter eggs in every ones lives.
LOL😂😂
Umm...As an artist & animator myself, not ALL 3 circles are always meant to be hidden Mickeys. I think you might be reaching there, my friend.
Thank you! Let this scoot by too many times people will be up in arms about every time a Pyramid appears.... oh wait.
@Onion Face Yeah the hidden Mickey is in the 'Love' song segment as a group of lillies.
I had to explain this to my 13 year old when we took him to Disney. He would try to spot the Hidden Mickeys (dont we all?) but everytime there was 3 circles even remotely near one another he would announce he found one. Crazy that I had to tell a kid that and this Disney fanatic didn't know that?
Literally claiming a hidden mickey in some nose freckles or a scattering of coins? Sorry. Not a hidden mickey!
Guernicama
Though I do think the chair one might be one
4:50 Actually, I think by that point, Robin Hood and Little John were friends by then. According to the song that introduced them in the beginning, they were just reminiscing and stuff, like how they first met.
That log is probably the same log they once fought each other upon first meeting, so they pretty much know better than to fight over it. Just a thought.
you're right that rh and lj already knowing each other is in the text, but the bit about the log potentially being the same one they once fought over is apparently just speculation--i really like that interpretation, though! it's smart, plausible, and fits their characters, so it is headcanon now. thanks! :D
Those "hidden Mickeys" are a stretch.
Yeah, after the second one, I decided to leave the vid.
@@pbase36 yup and his attempts at humor are just..😬
@@zumiii_ They dont call him Crazy Nate for nothin
Lol "hidden Mickey's" three circles near each other xD
Did you see that pile of cow turds in the pasture? Hidden Mickey.
Yeah...really?
@@testodude LOL!!!!!!
The Disney company reused animation from older movies to save money, because of the budget they had. It still holds up to this day. Robin Hood is one of my favorite Disney movies.
I see your "Helium wasn't discovered until 1868, so what was in the balloon?" & raise you: anthropomorphic talking animals speaking in American southern accents.
Yeah! Everyone knows that anthropomorphic talking animals weren't genetically engineered until 2351!
@@madisonlink7141 - They did, however, invent time travel in 3370. So maybe...these are time traveling anthropomorphic talking animals?
American southern accents in England, no less.
Western accents, not Southern.
@@AetheriusLamia is there really a difference thoe?
Me: can I copy your homework?
Them: sure, but don’t make it too obvious.
Me: 1:01
Not every 3 circles is a hidden Mickey!!!!
Exactly! I was thinking that the whole time! It's only a hidden Mickey if it's actually shaped like Mickey's head.
Those are whisker marks.
@@thebarbaryghostsf
--●●●--- oh gosh😱 its a hidden mickey! he even has whiskers wow its DEFINITELY him!!!
Guys, I never had a problem with the recycling of old sequences.
I always took it as a throw back to the other movies like a Easter egg.
Literally none of those are hidden Mikeys
Yes they are
He's just makin kids happy
No need for the truth
@@no.9junktion90 Yea..no. They're literally just loose connections to make 9 year olds happy
@@zumiii_ Hey, I'm 9, and I still disagree with most of them.
@@zumiii_ why does it have to be 9 year olds? What are you saying all 9 year olds fall for stuff like this and ONLY 9 year olds?
I think having Sexton Mouse and Little Sister (those are the names of the two mice who live in the church) be mice is also a reference to the saying "as poor as a church mouse". Some voice trivia: Sexton Mouse was voiced by John Fiedler who was the original voice of Piglet and Little Sister was voiced by Barbara Luddy who also voiced Kanga(original voice), Merryweather, Lady in Lady and the Tramp and the mother rabbit in this movie as well. Speaking of voice actors doing different roles, besides Baloo, Phil Harris also voiced Thomas O'Malley in The Aristocats.
Fun fact: Disney's efforts to save time and money by copying scenes from its previous films did not work _at all._ In fact the animators were rumored to have hated it.
Every frame still had to be drawn, but they also had to match a reference image, which was actually _more_ time consuming because this mean a frame could be "wrong," and would have to be changed or redone until it was "right."
●●●
Oh look, a hidden Mickey
Lol
O.O
Hey look another one! 😮 And another!
They already knew each other during the tree crossing scene, though?
Their reaction to that particular tree was probably just a nostalgic trip for them...plus they were going the same direction already.
I saw Disney's Robin Hood in the theaters 5 times, in 1973. I was 17 at the time and I bicycled to the theater to spend my hard earned allowance to see it. It was the first movie I ever fell in love with. Having just landed on the adult side of puberty I fell in love with the idea of falling in love and Robin Hood hit all the right buttons. Despite being a big Disney fan I was never aware that Hood had nearly had the wild west treatment. It DOES explain the casting choices in many of the roles, as well as Roger Williams the country singer being the minstrel Alan-A-Dale, and the writer of several of the songs. It still stands as one of my favorite Disney movies, and one of my favorite movies as well.
I have a few issues with this video:
1. Those hidden Mickeys are definitely not intentional. I would even argue they don’t even look like mickeys.
2. 8:36 When Nutsy was backing up the target he wasn’t backing up for Robin Hood’s shot. He was backing up for the sheriff’s.
3. 1:07 I admit I need to do a bit of research before confirming this, but I think I heard in one documentary that it didn’t really cut down on cost to recycle animation this way. People had to go deep into the archives to get the reference images to then copy and it was a big hassle. Again don’t quote me on that.
Counter point to number 2: The Croc/Gator announces "For the final shootout, move the target back 30 paces."
the phase "Shootout" in this context referring to both of the finalist needing to trade shots until one of them pulled ahead.
Things do get a bit confusing afterward due to the lack of any indication of judging or rules. My own personal headcanon is Prince John went with the honorable path (but only because he was 100% sure that the stalk was Robin Hood) and declared him the winner due to the obvious cheating from the Sheriff; ignoring foul play, both archers would have too fire another shot since both scored a bullseye. Now, I don't have extensive knowledge of archery competitions in this time period so I don't know if splitting another shooters arrow causes it to no longer be valid and we can't even check modern (possibly allowed due to things like happy brithday and badminton) rules because in modern competitions shooters aim at different targets so there is no arrow splitting.
Sorry for the re-upload, I had to remove music I didn't know was copyrighted.
Still a great video!
Crazy Nate it’s fine
It is OK
thanks
thanks
To answer the survey, yes. My family owned a video cassette copy of Robin Hood.
I own nine copies on video cassette
2:05 Pat "Buttram"? Wow, elementary must have been brutal for that man.
You do realize that Robin Hood wasn’t supposed to be 100% historically accurate, right? :/
And Hidden Mickey’s weren’t even a thing when Disney were making Robin Hood. It was a concept created in the late 1970’s to early 1980’s during the construction of Epcot.
Sterling Holloway is the voice actor that played Pooh and voiced Kaa in The Jungle Book.
Love you and Disney so much!❤️
Edit: omg thanks crazy Nate!
Omg crazy Nate!
that's nice :3
I'd like to see a remake of this while keeping all the charm. Maybe even keep it in 2D using a softer art style like in the The Princess and the Frog.
Wasn't King Richard's other name Richard The Lionheart?
I miss older Disney films... They had more heart...
I'm a little late to the video but, I wanted to mention that I worked with world vision, sorta, by participating in a 30 hour famine at my church and hearing about them in this video reminded me of the hunger I felt and the story I heard. (I hope the girl, Maria... I think, gets a better living situation soon) Thank you for reminding me, Nate.
Taking scenes from preveious movies is a common practice. Nothing wrong with that
Not only that but back then it took even more time but they wanted to be sure they did the scene right.
What he got wrong was claiming that the scene from Aristocats made it into Robin Hood. Perhaps he was just messing with us to see if we're paying attention, but Aristocats is much later.
@@BlackEpyon No. Aristocats was released in 1970. Robin Hood was released in 1973. They took the scene from Aristocrats and just switched the characters.
@@HeroGuitar94 Seriously? I seem to remember it coming out much later...
@@BlackEpyon For real. You can look it up :)
Hey Nate can you do everything you missed in The Fox and The Hound
For the 15 million, keep in mind this film was made in 1973, when Richard Nixon was President of the United States. Adjusted for inflation, the budget was 84.8 million

No Incredibles3
I see you missed Roger Miller, as far as the western talent. He also narrated a Disney documentary called, "The Ledgand of Lobo," another tid bit is his son narrated "Me, Myself, and Irene."
I myself noticed a few of those things you mentioned. I did find it curious that the kids would be singing “Happy Birthday” about 700 years before was even written! The Wisconsin State fight song is titled “On Wisconsin” and I love singing along with it every time I watch that scene! I easily picked up on the reused animation from The Jungle Book. And of course I know who Phil Harris was-my parents grew up in that period and my mom loved listening to “Those Were The Days”, a Chicago radio program on Saturdays with host Chuck Schaden and very frequently he would play old Jack Benny programs and of course Phil Harris was his band leader. I also knew him from one of my favorite oldie-but-goodies, a song called “The Thing” which Phil Harris was famous for. I had the sheet music for the song with Phil’s picture on the front and I even performed the song for a variety show called Uncle Phil’s Diner!
The chicken is a football player. Classic. I really missed that.
Brilliant how Disney spun what could be taken as socialist sympathetic and made it capitalist friendly.
Please clarify.
The Robin Hood story is not completely against taxes or government. It is specifically about a corrupt government and unfair taxes.
Do incredibles 2 please!
Just found this on the main youtube page. I like it a lot! Thank you!

I knew the man who lent his voice to Prince John and King Richard in the swedish version. His name was Ingvar Kjellson and he was the manager for Dramaten for a brief period of three months.
Nate I just have to tell you that you are far beyond golden keep up the hard work. -colton
Do incredibles 2 please and hi
Can you do Incredibles 2?
You inspire me to find Easter eggs in movies
That reanimation trick didn't actually save any animation effort most of the time. The frame by frame redrawing wasn't really much easier than just animating anew, and was usually worse after you accounted for actually finding original animation materials in the vault that matched what they needed.
Nobody is quite sure why the Disney producers were so determined to use it.
Do incredibles 2 🙂
I don't agree with a few of those Mickeys.
Love your vids
thank you Elijah
I still love this movie...and Allan A Dale whistles the original Hamster Dance at the start ;)
Do Incredibles 2 next
Your amazing and I really aspire to be like you on day
I was 6 when this came to theatres. My parents took me. I also had a 45
for the song "Phony King of England"!! Alas, I lost it. Probably worth a lot now!
In the original live action movie, Robin wanted to cross the log and Little John attempted to stop him by blocking his path.
Didn’t you used to have like 350k subs? And can you do a video on the incredibles 2?
Love you Disney
Fine I love Pixar too
What about the scene where prince John is arriving into town, the song that they’re playing is the same song from Sleeping beauty
I love Robin Hood

One Voice I Knew Was The Sherrif Because He Voiced Chief In Fox And The Hound
He was the voice Napoleon the Dog in The Aristocats and Luke in The Rescuers as well.
Pretty good video. :-) But you missed one great piece of Robin Hood trivia: the opening song "Whistle Stop" would eventually be sped up and rebranded as the early-internet-famous "Hamster Dance" song! There's quite a few UA-cam videos that compare the two. :-)
Yes I use to watch it when ever I could
You talking $15 million in 2018 or in 1973?
FFS. Hidden mickey!!! Scraping the barrel there !
Two things: FIRST: at 6:13 the dog is handing the little turtle-boy a balloon, but the boy is wearing glasses! Glasses weren't invented until the 1700's. SECOND: you can't associate every three dots or three coins or three round anything to be a "hidden Mickey", it doesn't work like that! If that were the case, EVERY single three-rounded anything anywhere is going to be a 'hidden Mickey'!!
I remember watching this
Do incredables 2 please
Get cracking on Easter eggs and everything you missed Incredibles 2 nate
Another Disney UA-cam video mentioned that recycling animation cost as much time (to find suitable old animation to reuse) as it would to make new animation! Thanks for the vid! :)
Hey Nate in the second trailer for toy story four in the back of the game you could see Ernesto dela cruz guitar

Love your channel share a smile 😆😆😆😆😶❤
I’m watching Robin Hood and previous Disney films and seeing the similar movements of the characters, but how do you “reuse animation”? The shape of the characters and how they move in a scene might be the same, but you have to put a hat on one of them and change their colouring. How does that work? Did they just Xerox the original drawings and colour them in and add on and then create the new rustic backgrounds? Sorry, I’m not an animator but it seems pretty fascinating, even when done “cheaply.”
I like the donation pitch at the end. Good stuff.
and if you do the incredibles 2 remeber to black bar the swear words(yes there are bad words in there)
