I think Xaryu was not laughing at Grubby himself, but laughing at the ridiculousness of the macro system and how there are 0 ingame tutorials and that's Grubby's solution was pretty creative.
Grubby is a legend, multiple WC3 world champion and all around god gamer. Was almost pro SC2, almost pro in HOTS and made Immortal in DOTA2 in like 8 months (insane).

Yea, I have sourced Chat GPT for more then a few weakaura code and code in gen. I normally have to fix it. But it gives a nice base as well for new lua coders getting into addons or weakauras. And for noobs. Simple macros wont need fixing. Its got it down pretty well.
The pitfall here is that spell ability varies depending on what wow expansion you are playing. So early game macros do not always work with the game a year or two later. So it might be a good idea to check if it works before you team up….
How much friendlier should a macro tool be? It has literally everything you need to make macros you just have to know how to code using the appropriate language which is in no way Blizzard's responsibility, *especially in 2005*
It's literally just coding. Not hard coding either, all of my macros are like four lines. Do you want Blizzard to do node based coding like a lot of game engines do? Just learn the language or copy paste other people's work.

The very least they could have had is a glossary of typical/baseline commands so people didn't have to go outside of the game to understand how to use a in-game tool. One thing I can't remember is if there were macro commands inside of the game manual for WoW? As they usually hid those kind of things inside of manuals back in those days. :p

I stopped playing WoW when Mists of Pandaria came out. But back in OG WoW, I had to use macro to make a button for each Warrior stance change, so that I swap my gear when I stance change.

I dont think i was using macros at all in vanilla tbh, it wasnt until TBC that i was actually truly getting into the game and learnt the basics and started to work on some advanced stuff. Like i remember back in the day of TBC retail u had the scorpid pet beeing busted AF cause u could snapshot scorpid poison with trinkets and lust so after watching Forte - Maa i learnt that u needed a macro to turn on/off scorpid poison and once u got all trinket procs etc u turned it on and it would snapshot all ur stats at the time and pet would do like 40-50% of ur total dmg. It was far better then windserpent in 2.1

Its like coding but you need to know what everything is named in game otherwise you're lost. Only macro I know how to make is /tar (insert npc name) and making one is not explained at all.

This is actually one of the parts I look forward to most about only fangs is seeing new players playing the game and all the shenanigans involved. We were all noobs at one point and I miss those first times for everything.
Great thing about WoW is you don't need macros if you are fast enough on the keybindings and the generous 1 second global cooldown. Macros are mostly for slackers.

Of course everyone has the freedom to play what they want but I reaaaally don't understand people jumping into HC Classic for the first time. HC was created for hardened WoW veterans who pretty much did everything there is to do in the game and were bored... It just seems naive and borderline irresponsible for new players (even to the mmo genre) to attempt. But I wholeheartedly respect their decision & look forward to all the content from death compilations / reactions :)
I mean they're just doing it because onlyfangz is free content for them. I doubt any of these people would have jumped into Hardcore if they decided to play the game of their own volition.
I know plenty of new WoW players or very limited experienced ones that absolutely jumped into hardcore the moment it was released. Perma-death is extremely fun and completely changes the nature of the game.

When you got convinced to try some private server with friends and they can't believe you don't have the 155 mandatory baseline addons ready to go.
Basically if u write on Chat GPT "make a macros for WoW Classic that When i cast corruption, also have the pet attack" will work
And it can create addons as well. You just ask what addon you want and ChatGPT it will create it for you and you can download it.
