I have been utilizing masks in LR for so long and I never thought to do this! Thank you for bringing this up!

No worries at all! Yeah I was doing something similar for so long and then stumbled across this method by mistake on a totally different project.

No idea why this didn’t work for me. Whenever I add the bucket tool it just does very little. Does not fill the square. I also when I hit the add a new layer it looks different the square is white on here mines just looks like the layer. It’s a great video. I’m perhaps just missing the tick of a box. Lol!!

I just came across this video and it provided the details to draw property lines! Here are the steps: click on the Add Layer icon (next to the garbage can)
select polygonal lasso tool and draw around object, connecting the polygon. If you connected the lines, you should see the marching ants.
use bucket tool to fill the shape
use the slider to next to the Fill box just above the layer to change opacity to zero. That is one step I missed the first couple times.
click on the FX icon at the bottom on the right column (second from the left)
click on the Stroke item on the drop-down list
adjust the color and thickness of the outline (the directions were pretty clear on this section.
Hope this helps you get this nifty feature working!
And thanks to Rory for this great and concise tip!!!

My guess is that you haven’t done it on a layer adjustment. That’s what happens when you draw the boundaries just on the image rather than an adjustment layer

Is this patched? I tried to follow along and didn't work

Nope just standard old photoshop. Double check that it’s all on its own adjustment layer but if so without sitting in front of your computer I wouldn’t be able to diagnose sorry!

@@RoryandCasey You're right I didn't do it on an adjustment layer I did it on a duplicate layer 🤦‍♂
This method worked quicker than others that I've seen, thanks for the tip!
