Like the front room of the world. Some of the best art and music ever has come from that area. There is an electric vibe going on there walking up to the west way.
Need to do a 2024 version of The Documentary- most of the Shops have Closed - very few Live Venues- very Transient you basically have poor people with Rich people - who would want to pay high price flat rates - so it’s Housing Association & Council flats - and rich people with their Instagram Trustafarian children most local people have left it’s sad the ones who are still around are Community legends
My Mother and her family are (were) from Ladbroke Grove, my grandparents lived there. I have very fond memories of Notting Hill as a child, I loved it.
I was in the first street carnival. 1966 I was 9 It was really a community walk, Went too the local schools. You wouldn't believe that there was a a large Irish community. Born 1957, not really covered. Who remembers the pie and mash shop and Holmes the bakers in Goldbourne Road
I went to the law centre because my landlord was evicting all the tenants in the house I lived in at Bassett rd he wanted to sell it they helped me get my first flat from Notting Housing Trust that was 1973
Love this documentary. I lived there about 1983 to 86. They didn't mention Ganja, Oz magazine and the Weathermen. I was also in a crowd scene for the film Notting Hill. And why didn't they mention the Antiques Market. My friend said Freddie Mercury had a stall selling music tapes.
Did that one person ( so far) who did not like this actually bother to watch this? Good to know about the history of a place before it melts away into the distance. I really fear for the soul of London. It's character is being killed with greed and cynicism by degrees.
I was born and lived Southam St , loved growing up in the Town. Not a unique area but certainly most interesting. I remember the first West Indian men who came to live in Southam St. No problems initially but the race riots caused changes for a while. Kelso’s death made people wake up to interracial situations.
Grew up in Ladbroke Grove. Love this place. Wonderful memories!

Jason Evers Herbert There are always trolls, don't feed them. :)
sisterplanet I have no idea what they eat. At all times be yourself is my motto.
You can say that again. I fear for the future of London. I don't recognise some places and Notting Hill has changed like goodness knows what.
Tour guide has the most annoying voice I've ever heard.
