I read it. I’m hooked. No easy task, John Donne, but worth the time and the risk.

Totally agree . The Donne technique many Acedemics warn creatives not to try to write in such a difficult style . As Katherine points out, Donne was an example of the collision of various forces and rapid changing times . But if there was ever a student literary model for learning to express good quality English poetry , it should be based on John Donnes works. Although there's many complex aspects in his verse that escape most writers' imagination due to a plethora of influences, I would argue it's not the religious conflicts or even the experimentation of jarring semantics of meaning or sophisticated super paradoxes .. It's more to do with the skip ! The turn of phrases in the beginning of each line they act as pivots to twist & turn the readers' natural focus to dizzying effect . Good example from Donnes apologetic letter to Sir Henry Goodyer on his secret marriage to Anne Moore . I lost count of the copernican turn of words he uses to justify the vows .You can feel the nervous anxieties of incurring the wrath of Sir Henry .I counted over 30 turns ! It's not the amount ( athleticism) it's Donnes' execution .I've not observed such control of intellect & heart in any poet. They never highlighted his movement of reasoning in logic at Uni . But choosing to write in a similar fashion . It's quite remarkable. It's like a mental game trying to capture the technique. I love it ❤ Lol

I want very much to hear what this dynamic writer has to say about Superjohn, but the things about her ears make it so very hard to hear her.
