I have looked everywhere (online), but can't find any dependable info on the maximum wheel size I can fit under a stock suspension '62 Chevy II. I'm about to order a new 9' Ford rear end (and Calvert Caltracs)... and on the front, some 2" dropped spindles. I can either keep the stock flange-to-flange measurement on the 9" or I can adjust it via the tire backspace. Assuming I wanted to keep the stock width in back, would a 17x7 (235/64/RZ17) with 4.75" backspace fit? Or do you have any recommendations on size/backspace combos for a restomod look on '62 Chevy II? Also, what is the biggest tire I can fit if I buy your mini-tub kit?

Jeezzz Dan, I thought I was good at numbers as a drummer and as a song writer , but you blew me away with all your numbers and calculations. I gotta go back to grade school to learn mathematics all over again. Can I ask you a question please. Im building my 1962 impala as a correct era street driver / weekend dragger . I saw your video on the mini tubs, that was cool, and very detailed. However that is too 80's for my build . Im back in the 60's. I want to stay with the 15 inch tires and rims front and back. So how big ( the absolute widest tire and rim) can I stuff inside the front and rear wheel well ? thanks , Jay.

Jay, we do not offer products for Impalas and we not built one, therefore we have no research data on wheel fitment. Sorry we could not be of more help.

What brand / model are the wheels on the Nova? You removed the center caps.

We do not have a lot of experience with the B-Body platform, but please give our sales and technical associates a call at 704-662-3272 or sales@detroitspeed.com and they may be able to assist you.

What's the biggest wheel I can put on my 62 Nova stock?

We are unsure of the largest wheel in a stock vehicle, but we believe it may be a 7" wide wheel. If you utilize the Detroit Speed, Inc. front frame and mini-tubs, the largest you can fit is 18x9 front and 18x10 rear.
