  • Granite Rock Splitting - Making a Granite Rock Block - Works in Stone
Granite Boulder Stone Splitting with Feather & Wedges ~ We will be covering the back wall of the dressing suite, The Gardens Suite at The Gardens of Castle Rock with granite split boulders. I’ll show you how to cut and shape stone in this series of videos. Feather and wedges are used to split the stone into 6 to 10-inch sections. Stone hammers are used to shape the granite rock into rectangular building blocks. This will be a fun project to undertake. Make sure you take some time to watch the other videos about this construction project. Thank you subscribing to the channel and leaving us a comment! We most certainly would appreciate it if you did! Share what you’ve done! Best to you and your projects! Thank you for watching… Enjoy!

What size drill do you use on material this size? I am just starting to play around with splitting granite with wedges and I don’t want to waste the time and effort drilling holes that are larger than necessary. I’m currently using a 5/8” bit in a 1” SDS-Plus drill and it feels like overkill but not sure how small I can go. I’ve read that thickness is 4-6x the length of the wedge but I’ve not seen anything about sizing the diameter of the holes/wedges for a given size.

1 thing about granite stone, it will survive longer then any other material. Unless you build your house out of diamonds but that's another league

Hey great video, its exactly what i was looking for, but i was also wondering, where does one get these granite boulders to begin with? is it as simple as buying them online, or how did you do it? thanks

all depends where you're located... here in Minnesota they are everywhere because they were left during the last Ice Age by the glaciers... beyond that, it is best to check with your local landscaping center... or ask a farmer.. best to you!
