These Himachali people are quite expert in paragliding. I think it has to do something with the institutions there and Bir Billing obviously, where we did paragliding, it's one of the best spot in the world to do it, as far as I remember it. Good job Pierre! ❤️

Countries like Canada allow you to drive up to paragliding launch spots. Maybe if India built some roads they could turn paragliding recreation into an industry.

The hindu festival is Amarnath Yatra... Once in a year.... The path is awesome beautiful....base camp is pahalgam.. You reach there by the next day by trekking...trek starts from Chandanwari.... And ends up in a huge mountain cave... Where u see hindu God SHIVA formation in the cave.. And it's a holy place for Hindus...

Go to Bir Billing for sure next time! You can become certified to fly solo in about a month. I had a friend who did that during covid and then made me do it in 2021. We would set off in the morning, pick a random mountaintop to have lunch on and set back. It's hard to describe, but you do start to feel like a bird and that you *can* fly. Truly surreal and some of the happiest days of my life...

I fly small airplanes, trikes and gyroplanes and actually design and have made all three types of aircraft but one thing I have not done is a paraglider wing which has completely no structure and depends on loading to take its shape. The problem in this area is you are not necessarily in laminar flow wind like one would be at or near a beach or coastal region. Mountains are notorious for creating downdrafts if you get on the lee side of wind. Seen a few of these paragliders come down right in front of me at airshows because of partial collapse due to turbulence. Sumit must be very familiar with wind patterns there and knows that even though it was a bit unsteady wind that he was not on the lee side. Cheers from Florida.
