Making letters from foam - 3D Typography - Styrofoam modelling process

Here's the process I used to model my Black and White 3D typography piece. Enjoy :)
You can use a foam cutter machine which uses a heated wire to cut nicely through styrofoam. I'm a glutton for punishment though so I went full-manual!

Which material used

It's 'blue foam' - you can buy it as 'styrofoam', 'polystyrene foam' or 'modelling foam'. Crucially, it's quite dense and so it holds a good edge and doesn't disintegrate when you work it with sandpaper and other tools.
