there are great djs on every side and each corner... just as well as there are not so great ones, etc.. a funny thing about technology: when 'house' came about, there were quite a few 'old timers' who were very displeased by the use of 'canned sounds', drum machines, synths, effects (especially voice effects, omg). but music is music and it's always fun and here we are decades later agreeing that some of those 'cheap artificial' tunes are in fact masterpieces :) anyways, great set and vibes

Man, nowadays it's impossible to see a 100% vinyl DJ... this is like driving a Formula 1 car in the early 90s, one hand on the steering wheel and the other changing gears... in other words, you had to have talent... I understand all the technological and logistics issues, ease that evolution has brought to DJs on tour, and the risk of damaging the record collection etc... but the excess of lights and buttons on these CDJs took away the shine of the DJs... the simple act of the dj going through collection and strumming between vinyls caused us to expect "the next one in the set is going to be really badass" I miss that so much nowadays.

I think that these basic vinyl mixes are the most fun because it's just you and the music. Put the screens, the perfection, the preparation aside and spin the decks. Sure the transitions are not as fleshed out as they are in modern top tier mixes, but these decks made the whole genre what it is today and I think people are taking the whole "perfect mix" stuff so far the actual mixing is just a robotic playback of prepared cue points, nothing more. The actual mix takes place in the bedroom and then it's braindead playback. Here, you're in it, you improvise, you do the best you can on the go. You also have no loops so if you fuck up the phrasing you deal with it. :D Btw Sven Väth fuck's up phrasing all the time, he probably doesn't even give a shit anymore. The dude could play the He Man theme song and people would still cheer at him :D
