Mike Ejeagha is a super talented folk song music genre singer, and a wonderful highlife artist that dominated in the late 70's 80's & 90's in the Eastern part of the country. His songs are more of traditional story telling, more like folktales. Our fathers enjoyed his songs, and our new generation is still enjoying him. His songs are what you call evergreen songs played by every generation.
The most beautiful thing about his life is that he didn't make so much money then, but he's now getting all the accolades and money in his old age. Something i love about our people. We revere those who have toiled to make way for others. From about 6yrs ago the youths in Enugu his city came together and had a serious party to celebrate his life. To everyone's surprise Igbos abroad sent lots of cash and gifts. His house had a remake just to take care of him. The Governor of Enugu state got him a car and a driver, took him to the hospital for check ups. Last year KC Limpopo master sampled another of his song and went to pay him for that. The man is simply having a good time in his old age based on the fantastic works he did in his youth. We love him in the East bcos he was a blessing to his generation, a blessing to our generation too. They actually called him GENTLEMAN MIKE EJEAGHA. God bless him 🙌🏾👍🏾 ♥️♥️♥️🇳🇬🇳🇬✅

Mike Ejegaha.. great storyteller of how the king insisted in giving out his daughter in marriage to the person who can present an elephant(enyi). The tortoise then decides to find a way to trick the elephant into the kings palace as a way to claim the bride.
Aptly summarised the whole story
HOW SAD FOR YOU TO NARRATE A STORY YOU HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF. the King did not decide but the King's Daughter decided that whoever that will come to marry her, must come with an Elephant. The King even gathered all his Children to query the daughter why she had been refusing every man who came to Marry her. At that point, the daughter said the suitor must come with an Elephant. The tortoise overheard this and then went to the Elephant House, deceived the Elephant that the King was doing an Occasion that all the villagers are told to gather including the elephant. That is how the tortoise deceived the Elephant and also deceived the girl. It is a story told to the Igbos from Childhood and what it does is for us all to thread carefully and apply wisdom in Life

Mike Ejeagha is NOT a poor man, contrary to general belief. He is just old but even by today's standards, he isn't poor.
That said, Brainjotter's impact on his career cannot be overstated. Brainjotter is blessed. He has changed a lot of people's destinies with his skits.
This song brings back memories. While growing up those days, we were often told stories at dusk. There were stories about animals in general and there were the ‘tortoise stories’ which were the best. The tortoise stories were often about how the tortoise used its ‘high intelligence’ to outwit other more powerful animals, sometimes how his efforts to deceive as a result backfired and got him into trouble. Each story at the end always had a moral or lesson to it.
This song talks about the king’s first daughter who repeatedly rejects her suitors, is getting advanced in age and beginning to worry her parents. The king calls a family meeting where everyone is to speak freely. She is asked what the matter is and says she wants a suitor who can provide her an elephant. She wants to be able to ride her elephant to occasions and make others envious. The tortoise who has earlier been rejected learns of this and, because he is best friends with an elephant, goes to the king and assures he can get an elephant if the king sets a date. The elephant, ‘big for nothing’, is not aware and is told he will be the chairman of the occasion. He is so excited and can’t wait for the date. On the day, the tortoise arrives late at the elephant’s house. The elephant has been ready, waiting and impatient. They set off, ‘enyi naga, anyi kwuinazu’ (elephant, keep going we’re behind you!)…
The elephant is moving too fast for the tortoise because he is in a hurry, he does not wish to arrive late and the ceremony is already over. The tortoise pleads his understanding that he has shorter legs than the elephant and asks the elephant if he can ride on his back instead. The elephant promptly agrees, ‘do what you have to do ‘. The tortoise asks if he can use a leash to assist himself to climb to the back and the elephant agrees… The tortoise is now riding and leading the elephant… They arrive and he says to the king he has brought an elephant. He claims his bride.
Then there’s the moral of the story which is to stay woke, shine your eyes, don’t be too timid that you are used and led to your downfall by more intelligent people or people you have underestimated even though you are more powerful than them otherwise. Note we also say follow who know road, but you have to also keep your eyes open in order to know your way back in case of emergency u-turn.
This reminds me of another such story where the most beautiful girl in the village was rejecting every suitor until this very handsome and rich prince appeared and she promptly married him. Off she sets to her husband’s home but the journey was getting more and more prolonged. Finally they get to the edge of the river where he turns to the water spirit he is and takes his wife with him. Moral of that story was, nothing is perfect.

He is the only man in the world with the chifetancy title GENTLEMAN.I saw him last October at his new residence built by Enugu governor at Abakpa Nike Enugu with my dad who's his no 1 fan when i came in from Sau Paulo wth some bottles of Gin and Whiskies, local He goat with stunge body odour. The story behind the song is how the tortoise sold the chairman of a marriage ceremony, which is the elephant, and used him to marry his own wife, the daughter of their king, who has rejected all her suitors.
The king wasn't happy with his daughter, and he inquired from her about the requirements for any man who wanted to marry her.
The princess said she can only marry a man who can gift her an elephant, so she can ride on it to any occasion she is invited. At this moment, that the princess made this requirement known in their animal kingdom, the elephant was not yet aware.
The tortoise and the elephant were very close friends, which made it easy for the tortoise to trick the elephant. And use it as a gift to the princess.
The wisdom or bottomline of the song is that you should not trust anyone. Even if your best friend asks you to escort him somewhere, you should be very careful. and use your sense.

Brain jotter brought it to limelight again to this generation and made a song which was popular for many years in the past more popular because of social media in this generation.

I'm happy now that Brain Jotter has showcased him. Ghanaians have refused to understand that the Igbos, our genre, is Highlife music.
