Interesting that these sightings seem to centre around the church. Given that Christians built their churches deliberately on Pagan sites of worship/altars, etc, it makes me wonder if these sightings had been witnessed by pre-Christian peoples, and they marked the site, possibly worshipped at it, and the church was built on top without any knowledge of what occurred there. As for what these sightings are, I tend to favour less paranormal explanations. It's suggested that rocks with a high silicon content, such as quartz - of which there is plenty in Cornwall - can act as 'primitive recording devices.' It's possible that past events (perhaps fires, lightning strikes) have been recorded in rock, deep underground, and are playing back under the right conditions to witnesses. The same can be said for the Owlman. That may be a real creature from deep in the past, its image distorted by time and the Earth's changing magnetic field, replayed when conditions are right (perhaps an excess of static electricity from an approaching storm, perhaps solar activity such as solar flares). Where I live now, I've seen what at first 'seemed' to be 2 unexplainable events, my son witnessing one of them with me and seeing another at another time. All very unlikely to a skeptic - until you consider that my location is one of Britain's earthquake zones...and, of course, Cornwall is also seismically active. Seismic activity can produce lots of static electricity, and this excite silicon rich rocks (and yes, these exist in the shape of plentiful pink quartz where I live). I definitely think our geology is responsible for a lot of the weirdness in Britain. We are lucky in having a very complex geological history, this marked by any good quality geological map of Britain. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some correlation between the nature of rocks and hotspots for various paranormal activity or reports of such.
You would enjoy Paul Devereux and his book UFO earthlights. It's a fantastic exploration of UFO and other phenomenon and he talks about quartz and seismic activity. Fascinating
Shot in the dark but: years ago, in the pre-internet age, I saw a late-night mysteries tv programme which featured a westcountry legend. There was a solitary aristocratic man in the 18th/19th century who lived in a large manor house somewhere in Devon. He was tall, thin, always dressed in black with a voluminous top-hat. Strange wails and screams were heard coming from his house (on a hill, maybe?) late at night. Villagers were afraid of him and would cross themselves and the road if they saw him. When he died and was interred in a Devon graveyard, locals got together and had a structure built to cover his tomb, for fear he would rise from the grave. Underneath the graveyard is a cave system. One day, at some point after his death, a potholer exploring the caverns found a figure formed where a stalactite met a stalagmite (this was shown in the programme). The figure has a tormented face, with arms stretched wide and a large top-hat. It was determined that it is directly below the mysterious man's enclosed grave. I've never been able to find any references to this tale. If anyone knows about it and could give more information, it would make a great addition to this channel.
Well young lady i listening to a lot of ghost /weird story podcasts and this was up there with the best !! I was genuinely sppoked. Also i normally hate the music that a lot of narrators use when telling a scary story as i find it jarring but yours along with the sound effects just added to it! Anyhow well done , i came here for your take on herbs and folklore traditions and ended up scared shitless!!😊😊😊❤😮😮
When i was 8 years old my family were camping with a trailer tent near Perranporth. In the very early hours of the morning on the third day my sisters and i were stunned when we were wakened and told to help pack up. As we left the field i noticed that an awning on a caravan on the other side of the field had been shredded. That family too had decided to leave and were dismantling it. We spent the rest of our holiday in Somerset. Cornwall while beautiful.... Is fucked up. I think it has portals. Pixies seem very real.
I love Cornwall. I spent 2 separate summers in porthtowan and near bodmin. Loved it. I have cornish ancestry going back to at least 1518 mainly from Polperro area. Proud welsh/cornish
Her description of the creature is so brilliant, so authentic, you know it's true. I've had similar experiences ( not identical) but i completely believe this happened and was real. Fantastic description of what it's like to see something you just can't believe is real but you know it is. I'm in Plymouth, would love to talk to her if she's still around. Curious to know if she ever saw anything else.
Great video. It sounds to me as though those who saw this terrifying phenomenon were seeing something from another dimension. Part Two is eagerly anticipated!
I have also been creeped out in those woods, even on a bright sunny day. It seemed strange because the area is so beautiful and it was only as approched the church.
Sounds like some sort of huge owl that has maybe escaped from its owners but I'm sure the witnesses would have recognised an owl 🦉 very strange story indeed
Hurrah! I live for this kind of stuff. And I like your voice. Voices matter. I think a voice can be as attractive as a face, and in a way that is more permanent. I found myself thinking of the Mothman folklore/phenomena in the united states. The film about it was a bit meh, but I read a book about it years ago and it left an impression. The entity here seems to fit into a similar mould - granted, the eyewitness accounts lean more towards bird-comparisons, but when you visually reconstruct what is being said ... The orb bobbing around the church tower is similar to something I witnessed myself. They often seem to float around areas where weird sh** happens, and you get the sense that the two things are connected, although you cant fully explain why. Keep up the good work.
@@redpillnibbler4423 It was a very long time ago that I watched it. And I did so with a bunch of expectations about I wanted it to be. If I watched it now as an older man, I might appreciate things that I was blind to the first time around. That often happens. In fact, I might even do that.
Thank you, it was scored specifically for the episode. Volume is a tough one though - on different speakers it sounds very different, and when playing in the car you can't hear it at all!
The term "British Isles" was not mentioned on this episode. 🙃 But if I were to be really c*nty, I would say that unfortunately Ireland actually IS in the British Isles (not the same as Britain).
If the artists summoned this poor creature, I feel sorry for it. Taken away from it's own world and forced to live here. Or they could have opened a portal to where this creature can come in and out, hence the sound.
Sounds like a portal was opened long ago , also sounds like a being in eastern part of USA , same description , , there is another winged creature there known as the jersey devil but again in eastern part of USA , but that is off different description , , I have had many encounters over the years with many different types of beings. , you do not want to know, , but yes these beings life forms do exist . That is all I will say , Some people , have done some very dangerous things in the past , opening portals to different realms , of existence. , all I will tell you all is that legend and myth is based upon facts , there are ,many types of beings in the UK and Europe , and many in the USA and Canada Alaska , , some even protect some people , too from physical attacks. , , and some people can actually appear to shapeshift too , like a super imposing affect. , only those intended to see something will , now that is interesting too especially in a crowded place , like a restaurant , some people can actually physically change too not super imposing. Affect but actually change , again something to see , many many life forms out there , best to be, loving, kind, thoughtful, respectful , and prayerful of others , I have nothing to prove , I know what I know , do not expect others to believe. At all , until you experience things yourself , how can anyone appreciate what is going on around them. ,

Debbie, it's like you've psychically downloaded part 2 before I've even released it!
Very interesting to read!
Wow! So much food for thought!
There is no evidence for Christian churches having been built upon Pagan religious sites in Britain.
