Terrific video! Wow! Okay. Here we go! It all started with the ESP light coming on, "ding!" VW dealer said that my 4Motion was down, but I could drive as a front wheel only car. Hmm. Okay. Then, at about 40 mph the ECR and the emergency brake lught went on simultaneously, and the trans downshifted to 2nd gear. Bad news! Went back to VW and they told me to buy a new car. My budget says not! I noticed that the ESP is OFF! Hmm. Last thing. I had to have the electronic emergency brake system fixed, and that included used parts for a module that is no longer available! Fo I just hive up on my otherwise wonderful 07 Passat 3.6liter 4 motion wagon. I love it! Thank you!

Thanks for the advice. My brother-in-law has an 06 Jetta (175,000 miles) with an ETC light issue but the dealer and other mechanics aren't willing to try one thing first. It's all or nothing the the car value may not support the charges. Your videos showed how I can tackle his problem(s) without breaking the bank. Where would us weekend, backyard mechanics be without guys like you? Thanks!
I actually have an uncle who was born in Greece but built Volkswagens in a factory in Germany before coming to the USA. My ignition switch went in my 2008 and he switched it out but it had to go to a dealer for reprogramming since the key, switch and engine all need a match. After they reprogrammed it for me when I hit unlock the trunk pops open and the fuel door release no longer works. The driver door panel doesn’t work at ALL now. They were able to finally get the engine to acknowledge the new key and ignition but they had an old program so I have to manually release the fuel door or hit unlock to the trunk and open the fuel door that way to get gas. The dealer wouldn’t even try to rectify it for me. It cost me $1700 for that and the horn stopped working too! So dealerships are just mechanics that are familiar with working on a particular car and don’t have all of the answers. I always start simple and work my way up to more complex things when it comes to cars.

My 2008 VW Passat(2.0 turbo) stopped on the hwy with a TPC light on. What could be the problem? What I need to replace the throttle body or can I just clean
I’ve been struggling to fix an EPC light for more then two weeks now. Original code was p0341 camshaft position sensor. Replaced it but didn’t fix the issue. This video is by far most useful as far as which direction I should go.

It can def be either one of these Top 5 issues that can be the culprit; however, I'd recommend to first run an OBD2 scanner to see if there is a check engine light code that will help you narrow down what it is that is causing the issue! Hey great video. 👍 I gave a mk5 Golf GT 1.4 tsi 125kw blg engine. I get EPC lightand engine symbol w p0321 code. My mechanic replaced speed sensor but not fixed the issue checked wiring, battery is good). Symptoms are, taking long to crank the car. Reduced power at low speeds and rough idle. What do you think? ECU issue or something else?
So I had the EPC light and could not go more then 2000 rpm, a lot of here and there, but in the end I got a connector (the one from throttle body) from junk yard, and that's it. 👍

Hi I have a 2004 volkswagen passat and had the epc light come out a few days ago in which after idling for a little the car died on me. I had to try turning it on again and it did but felt a bit weak and shaky. It's done this a few times randomly but it seems to happen when the car is idling.
I just changed my throttle body, gasket cover, spark plugs and a coil cover. The difference was night and day. I drove it for an evening. Then i decided to take the negative off battery to see if the code lights would be rest. Instead, the car now just cranks and no turnover. While cranking, there are zero RPMs showing. I did notice prior to doing the bit of work the car would crank longer than normal and then start. I even had to pump the pedal once or twice to get things started. Of course now im dead in the water. Im going to replace the crankshaft sensor as shown in your video. I hope this is my problem. I have a 2008 VW Jetta 2.5L thanks

Hello, firstly I would like to wish your country well in this hard times the whole world is facing. I was trying to connect my vw polo 2003 headlights switch when two connections came into contact and the car blackedout and showed the EPC light and handbrake is blinking now the car won't start and there's a funny noise from the bonnet and its a small buzzing sound. The starter won't turn at all

I'm driving a 2014 vw polo vivo (revised version of the polo 9n3 in south Africa) I have had an epc light nd my brake lights dnt work only the centre boot spoiler brake light works which is constantly on wen the car is in ignition or wen the car is on , I have replaced the brake light switch 4 times this year alone nd the fifth time last week . I'm purchasing the switch from the dealer constantly nd it also sits by the master cylinder in the engine bay , also I have replaced the brake lights relay iv checked all my fuses in the fuse box all check out fine .. Are there any tips u could assist me with in further troubleshooting ? Is there any step I'm missing wen installing the switch on the master cylinder ? Any advise please I will welcome .. I have a multimeter any checks I can do on the switch itself as I cannot even fathom wat is wat on the pins is there any tips on checking continuity on the connector ? I'm very sceptical of gng to the dealer as they will replace all items u have listed as common faults they are capable of such . please help

Also the map sensor could also trigger EPC light , check that out as well

Ahhhh much better, thank you, this one showed all the bonus footage such as other sensors. I replaced the throttle body on a 2009 VW Jetta 2.5. The EPC light was on. I disconnected the negative side of the battery so that the unit can relearn itself. The car true we on for 2 minutes then it died on it’s on :/. The EPC light is not on anymore, but the same symptom is there. The original code I had was
P0322.
New code that came up P1035 after installing new Throttle body.
One note I did not clear the codes. I don’t know how to. Can you please assist me with this.

clear codes on OBD sensor reader, plug reader in, turn ignition to on do not start, starts to load data, scroll to read fault codes, take note, scroll to Erase codes press enter, exit menu, turn key off, test, if still on dash redo steps above, don't have a reader Auto zone, Oriely auto
Are you also have power issue? I pressed fuel paddle to floor, turn ignition to on, count to 15 seconds, turn key off, remove key, release paddle, I did it twice and worked for me.

My car started acting a little wear ..some times just waiting for the light to change engine turn off ..yesterday engine light came off and after a few hours disappeared but today again appears and also the EPC light which make the car shake a little ..also appears battery light and after that turn it off..my acceleration is ok ! hey man I got a epc light and it stalled soon after fired back up took a second was warm the next day cold start took forever got it started stalled a few times after warm it ran fine. next day crank no start I changed tb changed crank shaft sensor intake sensor cam sensor and I got it started ran really rich bad backfires epc light went away. when it fired up after I turned it off just crank no start again any ideas I was thinking it may have jumped timing a tooth or something or bad coils I had slight issues with coils befor hand otherwise I'm stumped

epc light being coming on once every two weeks and my scanner picks up two fault codes p233700 cylinder above knock threshold and p102f00 torque limitation due to fuel pressure, any help would be appreciated thanks

I have a 2012 Jetta SE 2.5 the tech at ABC auto says it’s the throttle position sensor so I bought what they said but I can’t find it on the vehicle. The issue I have is that when I accelerate quickly it bottom out and decelerates
These models do not have a throttle position sensor on its own its built into the Throttle Body. Yes this is the exact problem i had. Thanks for tuning in and I hope that this video was helpful ! Stay tuned!

I gotta situation going on with my 2015 gti yesterday,during accelerating my car is not pulling as much it used to do and when i do accelerate i can hear the fan sound through my went(only when i accelerate or when i try to go fast).And hours later EPC showed up on my dash board,i went to the mechanic near by and got this P0087 code,asked me to go to the dealership.
All of a sudden The EPC turned off its coming and going ! But still my car doesnt have that much power and makes this sound when i accelerate.
What do u think is goin on?

Could possibly be the fuel rail pressure sensor or solenoid that sits on top of the high pressure fuel pump or the high pressure fuel pump itself (usually on drivers side next to Crankcase/ intake tubing. Hey man! I got a 2012 2.5 volkswagen jetta and im having a issue with my jetta. Last week i was at a red light and had my car on drive and it just turned off on me. I noticed the epc light came on. I put the car on park and it turned on right away with no issues afterword. A week later the same thing happened. The car just turns off when i have it on drive and im at a stop. And the epc light comes on and then goes away once i turn on the car. Its concerning me now. Have any ideas what it could be? Thanks

Bro. 2008 vw passat 2.0 turbo. Epc light damn disaster. 2 throttle bodies in and accelerator replacement vaccum leak fix etc etc. Damn epc light is still on. Still throwing codes for the damn throttle body. At wits end with no end in sight and 3400 in on this thing. Any suggestions??

I read that weather climate could also cause epc light to show up .For instance, very cold temperatures then rainy weather with warmer temperatures. Is that possible ?
This seems correct since I live in Florida and we don’t really get cold weather much but for everything else I can tell you it definitely makes sense. 05 Jetta 2.5

Alright my EPC light came on yesterday. I noticed it didn't have as much power when accelerating but not much else. It went off when I turned the car off and hasn't came back on but when it's in low gear it makes a whining or clicking sound. I notice maybe a little less power and seems like it's burning more gas.

Hey! No check engine light yet hmm if it is an acceleration issue I'd recommend first to clean your throttle body or mass air flow sensor with the proper cleaning solution. The other culprits could be the others as stated in this video, but since there is not a check engine light at this time there may not be a malfunctioning part at this time. Therefore, cleaning those two parts may be the solution. However, I would also recommend running an OBD2 scanner just in case there is a saved code or one that has not triggered the light as of yet! Good afternoon, can u help plz. I have a VW Tiguan 2009. The engine check light and the EPC lamp are both illuminated. The display showed up the message 'Engine fault workshop'. When I accelerate it doesn't go past 30 and has a hard vibration. I have taken it to several mechanics. They have changed the coil packs, the fuel pressure sensor was changed, the oxygen sensor was changed, one mechanic said I needed to replace the manifold and this was done. The throttle body was changed. Non of the above has resolved the vehicles problem. Any assistance you may be able to render would be highly appreciated.

My EPC light and traction light came on. We pulled over and switch the engine off. My wife turned the car back on in the lights were still there so she proceeded to turn it back off and upon turning it back on the lights were off and we were able to drive. The car allowed us to drive almost 600 miles before the light came back on. Now this time when the light came on I pulled over and switched the engine off and turned it back on and the lights cleared and we proceeded home. Does this sounds more like a sensor issue?
Same here, my epc light comes on around every 1k miles, but when I turn the car off and back on it’s completely gone, weird.

Hey bro I know it's been awhile since you posted this video but I have an 01 Jetta with the epc. I can't find the throttle body in my area would cleaning around the butterfly flap and replacing the gasket restore it to new? Or is there something in the electrical components side that would negate cleaning the throttle body?
Cleaning can do the trick but I’m unsure if that year has a built in Throttle Position Sensor so if cleaning doesn’t work alone replace the TPS and/ or complete Throttle Body replacement if it’s built into it. Hopefully that helps! Thanks for tuning in!

I had my engine light turn on for my cilder 3 had new spark plugs put in and coils stopped the car from shaking but the epc light turned on too im trying soo hard to find out what it is . 😩
My car would shut of at idle for to long
And after that problem it does it more
It even did it when I was at a red light
And every time im stopped I shakes lightly like its going to shut off
He my throttle Body cleaned but still no good 😔 the epc light is of now tho so im completely lost to what might be going on .

You said the EPC light came on after the tune up and now it shakes with idle. Make sure all spark plug coils and wire connections are snug and that the spark plugs are secured properly and not too much dielectric grease was used ( can cause rough idle). I have a 2010 vw gti and so far I’ve replaced the throttle body, accelerator pedal and crank shaft sensor. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll keep you guys posted for those interested

It is also possible that the system is mistaking either a faulty camshaft or crankshaft sensor causing the misfire (these 2 cause EPC issues), but I'd check that only if the tune up and coil replacement did not work. So I currently have a 2013 vw Tiguan and the other day my engine light came on flashing then epc light came on and engine light stopped flashing but was still on. Car seems like it wants to die. I am able to drive it but it when I accelerate it seems to be like a bumby when getting passed 30. I took it to autozone and codes are (P0300, P0304, P0302) I changed my mass air flow sensor and my spark plugs and nothing seems to work
They said it would be a faulty vacuum hose but I checked and haven’t found anything

-Check engine light came on two weeks ago and shows codes P0422 (small EVAP system leak), P0455 (large EVAP systemleak), P0456 (very small EVAP system leak) & P0507 (idle control system-Rpm higher than expected) on 2013 VW CC. Car was still driving fine until yesterday when the EPC light came on and Check Engine light started flashing along with the engine stalling and shaking. Was able to drive the short distance home. Turned car on after letting it sit for two hours and EPC light was gone but turned on again after ten minutes in idle along with the engine shaking. Checked gas cap & doubt it's the throttle. Anyone have any similar issue or suggestions on possible cause???
Happening to me right now did you find the cause of it , I did some research and changed my battery no shaking or stalling yet after I changed it so hopefully it’s good . It can’t be my engine because I got everything cleaned out new coil packs and everything

Hello 👋. I have a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta “Wolfsburg Edition” 1.8t. Let say I be driving for 20 minutes and I’ll stop at a red light and next thing I know the car won’t start this has happened to me at least 3 times and what I do is I’ll find a spot to park it and let it rest for an hour. After an hour has gone by I try starting the car and the car works again.once the epc shows up on the dashboard also check engine light and the battery are on as well. I clean the throttle body but that didn’t help at all. So I order a new throttle body that comes with the black sensor on the side bc I think it might be that but that won’t come in a couple weeks. Let me know what u think 🤔
Hey! So this stalling when stopped isn't directly related to an EPC issue. Sounds like it can be a number of things faulty mass air flow sensor, faulty fuel pump, clogged egr, faulty idle air control, faulty oxygen sensor, or even possibly a TCC solenoid in the transmission if an automatic. The EPC, Battery, and Check Engine light will naturally turn on when stalled out/keys turned in ignition without it started. If the EPC light/ check engine light remains with the car on then it would be an EPC related issue. I'd still recommend to run a OBD2 to see if your car is running a code in order to help narrow down the possible issue. Hope this has helped👌🏽 good luck on the repair 🤜🤛

Always check your car first before replacing random parts take it to autozone and use a obd2 scanner from them, scan your car, and get a print out of what the scanner picked up from your car happy researching. 😎

I use a cheap, quick, and easy OBD2 reader called kitbest that uses blutooth and an app on your smartphone, I actually have a video of it ua-cam.com/video/iFNchslS0ts/v-deo.html . Getting that code read will certainly help you narrow down the source of the EPC Light issue. If it is an acceleration issue it is likely caused by the throttle body, acceleration pedal, mass air flow sensor, cam shaft, or crank shaft position sensor. Ballin On A Budget Auto no it doesn’t turn over it just clicks but no start and it’s not running
Those lights turn on with the turn of the key normally if there is no start. If your car is struggling to start, does it make rapid clicks and the lights on the dash flicker when you turn the key? Or is there no click at all? Does the starter make a cranking noise at all? I'd start with seeing if the car will jump. If it does jump after some time of charging then the battery is the problem. If it doesn't jump with jumper cables and has no crank, the starter is the issue. If the car doesn't jump but has a crank then it could be the ignition system (plugs/ wires). If the car doesn't start, cranks, and starts with starter fluid it is the fuel pump. Try these scenarios. Lmk the results👍

My man.. first off, if you happen to see this and respond, I am beyond grateful for your time. So EPC light came on after driving car somewhat rough one day due to being late somewhere. No other lights on at all. Epc light will shut off if you turn the car off and only comes on if I punch the gas. If I punch gas light comes on and won't allow car to accelerate very quickly. Ive searched high and low through endless videos and forums. With your experience are you able to tell me what direction you'd go in if it were your vehicle? I'm about to take throttle body off and check for carbon build up per someone else's suggestion. Ive been running regular unleaded and was told that can be very bad for it... any advice?

Whatever code it is effecting the 1st and 3rd cylinder it is more than likely a misfire which is the spark plugs and/ or the coil packs! I just put a bottle of fuel injection cleaner in my tank the other day but my tank was only about half full. About three days later my EPC light came on. Could that have anything to do with it?

Hey man! I mean EPC lights do have the potential for more serious issues however more than likely it is just a simple solution similar to these or even a tune up of plugs/wires/ faulty coil packs!
