- This is such a very unique dark ride. There’s a party over at Monster Mansion and everyone is invited! Usually this is a VIP-only event for the wildest and weirdest of monsters, but this time, humans can come too. Just remember to stay out of the marsh!

I haven't been here in over 20 years but I can still smell it.
Looks great, too bad the animatronics aren't very good.

still better than what you’ll find at many other rides elsewhere. i mean, they’re even better than the superstar limo ones and that was a disney ride!!
Because they're not animatronics they're animated dolls. The difference is in how many mechanisms they have. Most of these have one or two vs small world every ones mouth, hands, feet and heads move.
Glad I never spent any money seeing this.
Some how this lost the plot of the mansion and turned into a swamp/ pirates of Caribbean/Willy Wonka Boat Ride. I am confused. This could be cute, with a bit more cohesion. It seems like a tv show with different writers each season … 🤣

Yes well, first it was a small world esq silly ride about the okefenokee swamp singing about the wildlife. Story about a rabbit or something, it was before I was born. Then it was monster plantation all my childhood and they decided in 2009 it was to be monster mansion. It smells the same. The characters are in the same spots with new skins. When you realize that fact, the bizareness begins to make sense.
They walked through a ride of naked animated figures and redesigned them as monsters. Then kinda made a story and kinda made a song. But it isn't sung. It's just on a sign board at the end of the ride. I sing it to my kids. 😂
One of the creators was the film director of fern gully. Another was a Disney imagineer. Another a small time movie director. But the most interesting name is Anthony (Tony) Christopher. You've seen a lot of his work at various theme parks check his wiki.
Curiously, his wiki doesn't claim monster mansion. But monster mansion wiki claims him. 😂 make of it what you will. But look at his stuff. Look at the fern gully artist's art and it all begins to make sense.
4 men created a ride. One decided the theme. Monsters, house, marsh. (The house use to be the farmer's house and the marsh was the okefenokee.)
One decided what the monsters looked like.
One decided the story.
One fixed all the fiddly bits in the machines.
No one of these four men talked to one another until the last month.
That's my joke of a guess. I rode it today. I've ridden it 30 times by now. It's never less weird. It never makes any more sense.
The kissing booth monster is my favorite though. 😂😂
