American conservatives treat the constitution and the Bible the same way. A highlighter on one hand and an eraser in the other.
😂 yes. The only reason we are Christians is to ask God for Mercy in the first place.
They want the militaristic "Christ" who will annhialate their opposition. They don't seem to get that the moment you equate Christ with that kind of power-by-force, is the moment you do not understand Christ.
Can I use this on Bluesky? It is one of the most succinct ways of describing the current insanity I've seen.
@GlamorganManor Go for it
The "Trump Bible" contains both the scripture and the US Consttution
I wonder if the folks that bought it have read either the Bible or the Constitution?
Regarding the Catholic priests who berated Joe Biden and denied him the Eucharist, no one saw Biden complain publicly about it, either, and yet he must have been affected. His faith is terribly important to him, yet his sense of service and duty to the country stronger.
Biden excommunicated himself from the Catholic Church when he funded abortions.
Biden's an adult, unlike Trump a petty tyrant.
@@michellewarmath7811 A saying comes to mind.
If I have to choose between my religion and my neighbor, I choose my neighbor. Jesus never told me to love my religion.
@@Comptondrums Amen 🙏
@@Comptondrums I reminded of a "joke" - on the 8th Day, the Lord came to Adam and Eve, and said "I give you one last gift. I give you Faith." And in the darkness, the evil one snickered and said "And I will give you religion."
1st Amendment. 1st Amendment. 1st Amendment. 1st Amendment. 1st Amendment. 1st Amendment. 1st Amendment. She has rights, and a beautiful soul, from what I can see.
And they can dislike it all they want. They will have a lot to explain at their judgement.
Amen
And separation of Church and State.
The truly sad thing is they will throw out the baby with the bath water to defend this fanatical misguided belief that the US is supposed to be a Christian nation. This is how they feel they can have the government censure/ condemn/ repremind what a priest (in this case a bishop ) says in the pulpit. Yet at the same time, they can never articulate which denomination or which persuasion of Christian faith should the Government adopt. Cuz they know if it is anything close to mainstream protestant (Anglican/ Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Lutheran, etc...they will need to have to start paying attention to the actual gospel and not just what they think it says. They will have to start supporting programs that feed the poor, welcomes the refugee and protected the dignity of every human as they do their best to Love their neighbors as themselves. Of course if it's Catholic that means the Pope will get the final say over the president..which we know they will never accept.. So instead we get what we get from them HR 59...a show of self righteous outrage that is not actually based on any interpretation of the Gospel or doctrine of faith but targets actual Christians speaking actual lessons in the Gospel as they speak truth to power. Its all very sad

You took the words right out of my mouth, oops I mean right off the tips of my fingers.
Here in my GOP supermajority controlled state, I've heard neighbors saying we need a more Christian leaning government, regardless of the separation of Church and State. I've asked them, "Okay, what happens then, when the Government starts telling you what you can and can't say in your own church?" They told me that can NEVER happen. I guess this is the "find out" stage.
Trump and ilk are beginning a process of "normalizing" the "abnormal". They will see how far they can push the boundaries and will see if their power could be diminished by an action. Right now, they are hollowing out our government. (They sent "buy-out" notices to the entire CIA workforce yesterday! No more CIA. No more USAID. The Dept of Education is on the chopping block.) Do not underestimate the determination of these people to dismantle our government, marginalize anyone who is not immediately useful to them - and to lead us to a very dark place.
I live in Utah and a lot of people here don't realize that these people in the government that claim to be Christians don't believe Mormons are Christians, and if they have there way and dissolve Congress and create a national religion that they are doomed.

Luke 6:36: "Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful"
James 2:13: "For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy"
Her sermon was just fine.
This legislation is absolutely unconstitutional.
Speaking as a member of a different denomination - her sermon contained nothing whatsoever controversial and I would assume all Christian churches agree on it.
I don't think it's actually legislation, per se, I think it's just them publicly and officially having a temper tantrum about the message. Which is wild from the 'party of religious freedom'. (I know, I know, it's more 'religious freedom for me but not for thee')
@bluedragonfly8139 Indeed, a mere declaratory bill might be OK as it is not a "law". Is insane nevertheless but technically not an 1A violation.
There are no theological arguments. She expressed love and patience as Christ taught and as His good and faithful servant.
How shocking that a preacher of the gospel in a church urging mercy would be attacked. Ugh.
This coming from the Rep. from Oklahoma... Oklahoma, where it seems that there are very few people who have absolutely ANY idea what true Christianity actually is. Persecuting such a gentle, loving, true Christian woman, just because tp attacked her... even as a Pagan, I find this action to be despicable!
Blesséd Be the meek, and Blesséd Be Rev. Budde, who is surrounded by Angels. 😇😇😇
I’m from Oklahoma also and what they are doing here is disgraceful !
..and now Oklahoma introduced a bill banning “romance novels”.
@creater-h8s Someone needs to introduce a bill banning porn of any kind.
We Episcopalians are in resistance mode and Bishop Budde has our full support. Separation of church and state- somebody forgot to read their constitution!🙏🏽
And the audience also forgot to read their Bible! They shouldn't have been upset to be reminded of what Jesus said, especially in a house of prayer and worship.
You are so right about being in resistance mode. Immediately, after the worship service on the Sunday after Trump's inauguration, my Episcopal church here in Tennessee held a special gathering to allow people to share their anger, fears, frustrations, etc. and it was very well attended. People appreciated that the church understood we needed to vent about how MAGA and its hateful tendrils were negatively impacting our country.
Asking someone to be merciful is now a crime in the MAGA world . This shows you just how for from the teachings of Christ they really are. They that show no mercy will be shown no mercy by God.
@@kenswimsthank you for sharing this. We need to hear more like this!!! I left the evangelical church as soon as they began to support the evil one. I am looking for a new church and now will consider yours.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,” HR 59 is a declarative law interfering with the free practice of religion within her church and her freedom of speech.
As an atheist I sometimes fell more Christian than Christians, there’s no hate like Christian love.
I consider myself a Christian. And I agree with you. Jesus well known story of the Good Samaritans illustrates this. What I learned was that they were looked down upon by other Jews, because they did not accept all the books, of what we now call the Bible. So a key element in the story was that a Rabbi passed by the stranger in distress. So the one with the 'less' religious knowledge, was the better person, because of his actions.
I identify as Christian, but definitely not mainstream or right wing. It isn't logical, reasonable, intelligent, educated, or intellectually honest to say "there's no hate like Christian love" when the differences among Christians are so obvious. As an atheist did you not demonstrate your own atheist induced hatred of Christians by saying not only that, but also saying that you sometimes feel more Christian than Christians before you followed with that? What does that even mean?
Is that not also an inherent claim of superiority, akin to the statement by those phony maga "Christians" in congress, and trump, mtg, boebert, etc., etc., etc.?
Regarding what the priest in this video said about saying that someone isn't a Christian is a judgement, I disagree, it's an opinion, a stated belief based on what has been witnessed. We, of our own free will and inherent responsibility regarding how we use it, are expected to make such assessments so as to not be deceived into serving false gods, deceivers, evil. Judgements are followed by decisions of guilt or innocence, consequences or no consequences, and That is Christ's to decide.
There is a relevant difference, and those in the Bible most known and respected for following and serving Christ spoke out against others and were executed for doing so, as was Christ. Preachers these days won't even risk their own popularity or monetary incomes to speak out against much of anything, thereby imo, enabling evil's success.
Ist amendment has no place here, what was on full display was an outburst of one of the primary elements bestowed upon mankind in the beginning. The human possession of free will and the ability to speak. Just because we possess those abilities, we also possess the Squelch and Volume, to not abuse our fellow man with vitriol causing ill thought and distrust onto the abuser.
@ I believe statement, the you were responding to was about a specific group of Christians, known for their hate of others. The denomination that I belong to is part of larger movement called "New Thought Christianity" . I myself contemplate meanings for greater understanding, so that I have opinions that are somewhat different than others of my denomination.
I recently watched UA-cam vid, where young man spoke about the passages where Jesus criticized certain elements of the religious establishment and others, who seemed to consider themselves superior. And I agreed both the poster of that video, and Jesus. Also Jesus's well known story of "The Good Samaritan" touches n this as well. Jesus pointed out that Rabbi passed by the stranger in distress, whereas the Samaritan, 'rescued him.
They seem to have forgotten the First Amendment as well as the teachings of Jesus Christ.
and deep down inside they are really triggered by both of those things. That's why they are having such a meltdown.
SCOTUS has eviscerated the First Amendment.
They have no idea of the teachings of Christ.
They never met a law or commandment they wouldn't break if it suits them.
"seem" was TOO MUCH. THEY DO.
As a Christian Black Woman, I CONDEMN EVERY ACT FROM THE PRESIDENT ON DOWN, FOR SPEAKING AGAINST 'A SINCERE PRAYER FROM THE WORD OF GOD!' HER PRAYER WAS FOR ALL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. It disgusts me that who dare to call themselves Christian can stand so firmly in opposition to Christ's teachings.
It's because they are not actually Christian...
Beginning with Trump exploding in rage after this sermon, and now Congress condemning the words, I believe we are seeing, in real time, God hardening hearts.

So let me see if I got this straight: So basically, she *TRIGGERED* Trump, MAGA, and the GOP - and so now, they want to *cancel* her!?
Its my belief it won't be long before Trump declares the U.S a Christian country. It can't be overstated how dangerous this stuff is. We need a separation between church and state that's absolute.
Considering how many Americans are non-Christians or non-religious altogether, it makes you wonder how Donvict and his toadies will enforce _that_ one, and that’s if they even succeed in the first place!
Yes! They are already "re-interpreting" what is meant by a "separation of church and state" to suit their idea of "real" Christianity. It's very bad news for anyone who doesn't have the "correct" religious orientation.

Compassion. Simple compassion. Those who condemn that condemn themselves.
Luke 6:36: "Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful"
James 2:13: "For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy"
We the people agree with what she said in her service..
They don't care what she said. They don't care if it's scriptural or "a distortion". What they care about is that she hurt trumps little bitty feelings because she hit the nail on the head. That's all they care about, pleasing their leader, keeping him happy, so he doesn't turn on them as well and feed them to the wolves, like the shepherd he's proven himself to be to many others who were once in his fold. A wicked shepherd who would abandon or worse turn his sheep over for destruction at the least little thing.
And you hit the nail on the head in your analysis.
So they are idolators, putting Trump's temporal authority over God's and the Bishop's spiritual authority in the church. They all need a deliverance service, bare minimum, maybe even an exorcism. 😬 I wish I was joking.🤦

And humbly. So many people have been deeply and repeatedly hurt by lost sheep and false prophets calling themselves "Christian". They were there for a photo op. Trump didn't want to be there, even before she started speaking.
Happy fruitful year,I'm beyond excited! In just one week I'll be debt-free, having paid off my entire $285,000 debt and begun a new chapter of financial freedom.
How were you able to do It?
Am a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down 😭 of myself because of low finance but I still believe God😞
its luck, it's me just being
at the right place at the right time. I met a financial and trading consultant at a seminar back at Los Angeles later last year, where she was featured and interviewed and I reached out to her afterwards.
Her name is Elizabeth Ann Hanson, I didn't know much about trading and investing so I spoke to her about it, she then later introduced me to her platform where I and other people could invest.
Elizabeth Ann Hanson's doing she's changed my life. A BROKER- like her is what you need.
Lovely! I enjoyed it like I enjoy a $100k monthly around the turn!!!
All because the orange tan toddler go his widdle feelings hurt. If he felt attacked, that tells you everything you need to know about him.
It's not just about his feelings though, even more, it's about the fact Republicans have long aligned themselves with Christians and depend on that base to stay in power. If they're starting to have Christian leaders who are willing to display sympathy for people Republicans are calling "enemies", and daring to confront them and other Christians with the fact that Christians are ordered by God to show love and kindness to supposed enemies, others may start listening. They will lose power if they lose Christians, thus prominent dissenters must be silenced. It's also just standard fascist procedure to silence people under regimes with dictators, who many on the right seem to greatly admire these days, extolling the virtues of Putin and what a fantastic leader he is 😳
That's the rub, isn't it? They knew him from the last 4 years he was in office - and they still handed power back to a convicted felon, liar, traitor, adulterer and cheat. Our country is heading straight for sewer - it will takes us years to even get back to being at the gutter level.
I think she is a hero. Her blessed words made me evaluate myself and I decided to go from Pentecostal to Episcopalian.
Welcome 🤗❤
Welcome aboard.
Bishop Budde is awesome and Wonderful, She doesn't have to answer to nobody. She didn't do anything wrong and She did a awesome sermon..The Sermon on the Mount Blessed are the Merciful!!!.. Congress has no right to what freedom of Religion is.. Separation of Church and State... God Bless 🕊️
In the end she will only answer to God, and I happen to think that he will call her blessed. 😊
@@denizday7785 even money, Trump will call the Almighty fired, to then discover a new meaning for that word.
@@spvillano I almost choked with laughter, in agreement.
This HR-59 is disgraceful! Call or email every single Republican Representative and demand that HR-59 be thrown in the trash can. Disgusting!
First of all, those goons should never have been at a prayer service. It’s just plainly ridiculous.
I saw a bumper sticker yesterday: “Are We Great Yet?/I’m Just Embarrassed” Pretty much sums it up for me.
"Breaking News: *_Bishop's service paraphrases excerpts from the Sermon on the Mount, Inexplicably sparks outrage from Christians?"_*
How do these Christians not know their own religion?!
Reminds me of Jude 1, particularly 9-12:
"But even the archangel Michael, when he disputed with the devil over the body of Moses, did not presume to bring a slanderous charge against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” These men, however, slander what they do not understand, and like irrational animals, they will be destroyed by the things they do instinctively. Woe to them! They have traveled the path of Cain; they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam; they have perished in Korah’s rebellion.
These men are hidden reefs in your love feasts, shamelessly feasting with you but shepherding only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried along by the wind; fruitless trees in autumn, twice dead after being uprooted."
The oriest and pastors who speak about compassion and support everyone as you can are Christ like. She is a saintly woman speaking of compassion.
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be known as the children of God.
Mathew 5:9.
This action from this congress is proof of how these politicians are in line with evil.
Bishop Buddie is an example to all religious leaders. Such a humble servant of the Lord. She prayed for mercy. How is this wrong in any way?
Amen 1000 times. Jesus was in the building when Bishop Budde said those words. And he weeped with pride. ❤
They will know we are Christians by our love.
I love this message. It is a good thing, she is preaching the right message
Welcome to the state of our..... government, such as it is
Pray for us, Reverend, please. Love and Light to you, and thank you for always speaking truth.
I stand behind Bishop Budde with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my mind!!!!!!!!
Thank you from a soul who is looking for answers!
Freedom of religion!!!!
She’s being prosecuted for righteousness sake. Yes, she should count it all joy. Though subtle, the TRUTH of the Word of God came out of her mouth like fire 🔥 consuming the wood of the diabolic ones who heard her. Let’s keep praying for her protection.
Amen. Wasn't aware of HR 59. Thank you for keeping us informed. Bless you, Rev Ed. 😊
I still believe that “Religious” people will do what they are told no matter what is right. It is the “Spiritual” people that will do what is right no matter what they are told.
So according to the author of this resolution, preaching compassion and mercy to an individual who has never expressed compassion or mercy is political activism. Never forget that the same person she was addressing has stated he never felt the need for forgiveness.
Well said, Rev Ed!!! I totally agree with you.
Finally! I've been waiting for somebody to respond to H.Res 59!
I'm very sorry that this is the first time I've heard of this I just didn't think it could get any it's a disgrace. I'm ashamed of Congress.
