NETFLIX CORRECTION: I stupidly stated the annual UK cost with the Moroccan monthly cost, so I am putting that right, here. Annual Moroccan Netflix is 1,080dhs or £86.65 compared with the £135 annual cost of Netflix in the UK - It is still a significant gap compared to the gap between the cost of Netflix in the two countries in 2020.
ARE you trying to distract the moroccon people from the Genocide that is going in Gaza with this Topic ?????
The base salery in morocco is 3000 dhs : the cost of a gym membreship.
You need to compare the pourcentage of each cost to the salery. For example iphone = 3 month salery in morocco ...
welcom to morocco good luck to you old man great video like from me
If you are European and have reached retirement age, Morocco is a good choice for stability, and you will certainly benefit from the tax differences between the two countries, which is reflected in the cost of living.
1 food gaz bottle lasts for 1 to 2 months max for a family of 4, the heat one lasts 2 to 3 months if buckets are used and you wash twice a week.
I am Belgian, I have lived in Morocco for a little over 10 years.
Living in Morocco with €, £ or $ in your pocket and earning a living in these currencies gives the impression of financial ease.
But when you work and earn your living in dirhams I can guarantee that life in Morocco is excessively expensive, much more expensive than the UK or Europe. And apart from the very pleasant climate, life in Morocco is far from easy. Impossible to make a real comparison, surviving in dirhams or living in pounds (euros or dollars)... it's not at all the same fight
I know it is not easy if you are paid a Moroccan wage. Towards the end of the video, I do acknowledge that Moroccans have suffered from the cost of living crisis. Poor people in both countries have. I think there is a view in Morocco that the UK can't be all that bad as it is a "developed" nation, but people are suffering a lot in the UK.
80% of what you say isnt acurate ! I lived in UK for 3 years, then i went to live in Barcelona, and i can say that cost living in Morocco is better than UK and Spain.

As a Moroccan I totally agree that the cost living in Morocco is incredibly low compared to that of the UK; but only if you get a European paycheck. So good luck surviving in Morocco if you earn a Moroccan wage, given the fact that way more than 50% of us earn less than 300£/month.

As a Moroccan i can say that the prices given are pretty much accurate, only for gas bill most of Moroccan we only use gas bottle for cooking , i think in the UK gas bill included cooking and heating., but again morocco isn't known for very cold weather, so you will be fine with AC and heating equipment that use electricity. another change that i think you should notice in the future is you will find more Moroccan could communicate in English.
Most ppl use two bottles of gas or more at home one in the kitchen and others to heat water in the bathrooms
It's true that in the UK, we use gas for both, so it costs morem but also the reason it is expensive is because the unit price of gas is much higher in the UK than Morocco.
I live in Fes city, really cold in winter, ultra hot in summer, I have 3 air conditioners (huge one = 36k BTU, the second two = 11k BTU), in summer they work nearly full day, and I pay less than 2000/2500 Dh/m for that... if the same situation in the UK, all your average salary won't be enough for that...
also, I use one of the most modern and sophisticated central heating in the market at home (energy hungry) that works 24/24 in the winter time, including floor-walls heating/water heating/etc, it takes between 6 to 8 gas cylinders, so less than 30£/m, you can't even imagine doing that in the UK with an average or higher income!!
So Gari is right, if you take the small things in daily living, Morocco is by far a better place to live if you have a good income!!
Well it's really cold in the Atlas in the village where we live...snows most winters

The cost of living in Morocco is very cheap for Foriegners from European states compared to native Morocans. A regular Moroccan still suffers and struggls with life necessities on a daily basis, as most of them recieve minimum wages range between( 220 dollars to 350 dollars a month). However, in morocco we still have solidarity, love, and a strong family bonds. We love this country of ours, its people, and its King. Long live Morocco.

Absolutely!
I think we really have the wrong idea about Europ.
Great video. To be honest I was waiting for more comparisons like private school (which is a must nowadays for Moroccans) and also in terms of individual income and minimum wage. As a Moroccan, I've noticed that in Europe you get 3 times more than the salary you may get in Morocco with the same work/experience. With that, I guess having 3 times the income of a Moroccan can cover the high expenses in the UK, but it's hard to survive with the Moroccan salary in Morocco with those prices.

as a moroccan i will be more then happy to go live in the uk .
lol
U not going nowhere ! This VD not for you for ppl from UK £ & $ € ¥
Well what makes life is a bit expensive in Morocco is when you want to consume foreign market like cars electronics and so on, so for example buying a phone, tv, motorcycle, its many times average salary here, and also the public school it sucks so you have to give your half salary for your 2 kids for private school,
And also used cars are hell expensive.
I think the good combination is to work in uk and save money and back to morocco buy a house and start a business
I confirm that gas prices in the last 3 years have not changed but it's expected to triple in cost along the next three years. 10dh per the first two years then a huge increase by 70dh in the 3rd year. FREE PALESTINE!!
I can say Living in Morocco is much better than living in the UK, the weather is good, the agriculture, and health care system infrastructure are fine with good prices, + people are not xenophobic, and very easy and forgiving immigration laws I do live in Thailand and I can say it cost me 7 times than in Morocco and people are xenophobic and the immigration is too far from logics, unfortunately now a useless poor Ukranians can live for free much better than a British who pay all his hard-earned salary for taxes
So sir did you compare the salaries of both of them the uk 3000€ and morocco less than 300€ this is the big deffence between both of them
rent in good place in rabat is around 15000dh or 1400 dollars
go to Tunisia and you will be more surprised by how inexpensive is the cost of living when you convert it to pounds (it's paradise for foreigners)

I have lived in Rabat for almost ten years. I can say from personal experience that I change my gas bottle every three months. I can almost time it to the day - certainly the week. That is my personal experience that is almost a decade long. Obviously, if you are a family, the bottle is not going to last as long, but as a single person, with a decade of personal experience, I can say my claim is true.

Really appreciate the efforts made in the making of this video. The prices are accurate, but, as many have said in the comment section, the differences in wages in both countries are huge. When you are talking about some prices staying the same, we can also argue that it's because the general salary stays the same as well.
It is true that wages are significantly different. Chjeck out my video on life on minimum wage in Morocco and the UK. ua-cam.com/video/I5eGHJoXrRY/v-deo.html You'll see that there are a lot of similarities when it comes to life choices and financial sacrifices.

Health insurance is the worst thing you could find in Morocco it's almost absent because if you want to get cured you need obligatory to go in a private hospital.
Yeah maybe you’re right the cost of living in the UK is higher than in Morocco. But you forgot to mention something, the minimum wage in Morocco in 2023 is around DH 3500 a month whereas in the UK is around £ 1300 a month which is about DH 15600.

I would say Morocco is a very good option if someone in Europe wants to live here, it offers good climate, delicious food, beautiful nature, and most importantly, it is very cheap. Although it's a bit "tough" to get things here (the gaz bottles for example), it still remains a good destination where you can find most of what you need for a very cheap price.

Most of your comparisons are on point except for the so-called gas bill. There is no such a thing as heating gas in Morocco. Most Moroccan households don't have heating. The gas bottle is strictly for cooking and will not last 3 months if the intended use is anything else but single burner stove cooking. For example, these bottles are used in agricultural applications, and will not last a full day if they're used to generate power. These gas bottles are also subsidized by the government and currently there are controversial debates about lifting the subsidy.
I heat my home with electricity. I think it is the cheapest way. Using gas for cooking only keeps the use to a minimum.
most moroccans don't have any single dirham income, they live under the solidarity of their family. Especially under the helpof those who live in Europe. So, for you, as British or European, the cost of living in Morocco is cheap because you're comparing the Uk wage and Moroccan cost of living. That's a mistake if you're taling about Moroccans; you have to compare the nothingness/ null income vs at least 500$ cost of living every month. If you are talking about UK citizens or Europeans then yes you're right they would find it cheap if they bring their UK wage to live in Morocco.
I would love to make a video about the true level of poverty in Morocco. It's all about finding Moroccans who are willing to say all those things on camera.

Please tell us why you’ve chosen Rabat over other cities. Also, people’s attitudes towards foreigners….
I made a video about why I live in Morocco. ua-cam.com/video/mhgoDdvFG9w/v-deo.html As for Rabat, I find it the calmest of all the major Moroccan cities. It's quite central and it has an ocean coastline.
In May 2024 in the UK we are seeing the increase of Road Tax and Car insurance and Electric, Water and Gas bills, Council Tax, Rent, Mortgage rates, and it's definitely increasing again within 6 more months. Add to that the New announcements for thousands to be taken off PIP Payments with that having started now, thousands to be taken off Universal Credit if they don't get work within 12 Months which means they'll stop getting their housing benefits paid to their landlords, so homeless, mental health, drug addictions and extra high crime rates are only going to increase even though these are already very high in the UK in 2024. Racism is also sharply on the rise and violence with organised crime and plenty of online scams. Domestic Violence is going out of control with brutal stuff. It's so sad to have been born and raised in the UK to now feel and see so many others unhappy and uncomfortable here, no wonder so many are heading abroad. I can't see this being reversed for at least another 15 years! It's turning out to be extremely corrupt and the elites are getting away with it openly.

Your videos are awesome love it! ❤
Thank you, so much. I really appreciate your comment as this took WEEKS to put together.
@@GariSullivan yeah true it's really hard to make such as professional and detailed subject like this.
Spot on! Morocco is very suitable for someone who works online. He'll live as a king.
can u tell me more pls
@@samtalk328 I mean if you're foreign and making money online.. Morocco would be perfect place to live in. No tax and sheap bills comparing with Europe.. same food quality & services except health care you have to pay.
@@samtalk328he means digital nomads
Having visited Morocco a few times, mostly Rabat and Casablanca to see friends, i'm curious do you speak Moroccan or French while your there ?
مقارنة ديال الله يحسن لعوان ...مني يكونو أغلب مواطنين لمغاربة كي تخلصو غا قد SMIG ديك ساعة ممكن تصح مقارنة
You just missed the most important info which converts the whole equation, you havn't talked about the minimum wage which is 300€ in morocco, for people whom getting payed around it they live in hell, meanwhile in the UK it is more ... 🤷🏻♂️
The quality is not same. You are comparing only the prices but not the quality of the services delivered
People must think why they still support capitalism !!
People on earth must find an other system...
Sir, you must not forget that the monthly income of a Moroccan is only $500, unlike the average British citizen, whose income may reach $2,000.
I advise ppl not to move here, unless u get paid in $-€-£ or have some degree that will garnet a paycheck of. 7000dh, If not then " you are with all respect tweaking, minimum payment is 1800dh, ppl wont acknowledge that or maybe they dont know, but a security with 12hours work every day with one day off can get you 1800dh too 2600dh, depends on which one u work in, if not u can get paid even less, so put that in mind before u get your hopes high and move here all willy-nilly.
I worked in sales, used to get paid 2600 a month at best, rent 1600 water electric bill took 500 of that, cheapest wifi possible took 200, groceries 300, so no, dont move here
الازمة فالمغرب تيصنعوها الوزراء والمسؤولين اما ف بريطانيا الازمة تيخلقها شعب تيربح ومتيبغيش يصرف تما تتخلق التضخم فالبلاد
Basically.. retirement in Morocco would be a great idea ...
Having a business that brings back dollars and you live in morocco, you'll live the best life 🗿
Funny how Terry is enjoying the "petit pain au Chocolat" and don't give a fuck
I'm Moroccan, and I'm wondering why even comparing Morocco to UK?
The cost of living in Morocco is really expensive if you're getting paid with Dirhams not euros.
you saying a monthly food bill for a single person in the UK is £250 at 6:47 for someone very careful with their money is crazy... That's around what my mom pays for the 3 of us and we eat more than enough... and you saying that bus fares are capped at £2 is also off for where I live as a bus trip will set you back around £4.60
Thx for this video a lovely video featuring my country ❤
The comparison is unfair.... For currencies are different. I would agree if the pound and dirhamsre equal in value.
Hi mate, tell me please where in UK you can car insurance 500 pounds 😂 I'll change my insurance
For TV licence is actualy 2.5dhs
Summary: cost of living in Morocco for a foreigner looking to retire there is very low, much cheaper than Spain. However, as a Westerner I wouldn't live there. Too much oppression (especially when it comes to religion and people who think differently, some Moroccan atheists have even fled the country) Until they solve that problem, it's only good for the weather and food.
