I just hope that this isn't another story where my character is mainly just a spectator to the WoW writing teams super special please do not steal OC's.
@@mistergoats4380 Like I understand that the team can’t write stories around the Player Character the same way that FFXIV does. But throughout the latest expansions we’ve only been there to facilitate Jaina’s dramatic reunion with her daddy/boyfriend issues. Anduins daddy issues. Saurfang being a daddy issues. A bunch of smurfs existential crises. Most of the time it feels like we are just batting flies away from THE REAL HEROES OF THE STORY so that they can have their dramatic moments talking about their feelings and interacting with the villain. We are basically just cleanup crew or the people the Crown sends to venues to make everything in order for the queens arrival. We have no agency, and no involvement other than to make it possible for again, the real heroes of the story, to have their dramatic moment
I personaly hate when they give special significance to the player character. We are spectators, as there's no meaningful way to make us part of the story. I'd rather get character and plot development through actual characters and letting us be adventurers that help along, than hero of light, prophesized master of the universe bs, in which we are both the most important narrative character in the game and the most vague.
@@hugofernandes3262 There sure is a happy medium between there. Extensive voice acting kind of ruined WoW in some aspects. Back in Classic we felt more significant but not overwhelmingly so. This was an overall pretty well done cutscene but man, Alexstrasza getting electrocuted mid-air and then just falling down looked so cartoonishly funny lol
This is exactly what happens though. Electric eels can shock an alligator and it just goes totally rigid, muscles seizing up and there's a reasonable possibility that it just drowns. Makes sense that Alex would just freeze and fall.
@@HiveFleetOni thats not how electricity works though. Because alexstraza is in mid air the electricty isn't able to go to ground therefore the electrons won't have a travel path throughout the body and be able to electrically disrupt the signals from her brain to muscles paralysing her. Similar concept to how birds are able to perch on live electrical wires. The lightning would however create a decent amount of heat but for a dragon this would be nothing. Electric eels work as they are in a body of water which freely conducts and is connected to earth.
@@lamby587 That's a very good point, but in this case the electrical energy is drawn from the Elemental Plane of Air and because it is extra-planar in nature, after it arced into Alexstrasza it punched a hole back into it's plane of origin, effectively grounding itself in another plane. ... What? :D
WoW writing is getting really bad,Alexstraza killed Malygos without doubts or real remorse. But she constantly avoids killing the apparent "worse" enemy the dragons had before Galakron
My god, I don’t feel anything for this cinematic .. just nothing.. This fight.. it just rings hollow.. Need I remind people that during Day of the Dragon, a beaten, starved and near depleted Alexstraza was able to hold her own against Deathwing (not for long but still she held her own) And now apparently she can’t defeat a dragon that has been empowered apparently by the Elemental Lords, that aren’t even on the level of the Pantheon + that’s she’s just a proto drake not even intelligent on the level of Alexstraza
You do realize that Alex back then still had the powers of an aspect given to her by the titans? Even if she was at full power back then, DW had the powers of an old god on top of his aspect powers, so beating him was going to require all of the aspects. They lost that power killing DW in cata. So now, Alex is basically fighting raza at her base level before the titans empowered her. It’s no surprise she lost to an ancient proto drake infused with the power of a storm.
@@fahimp you do realize she didn’t right, she got help from the other remaining ones and even they couldn’t help her. This happened before the Demon Soul was destroyed.. and keep in mind Deathwing never sacrificed his power, since Ronin was able to break with DW scale
@@JamailvanWestering I guess we were speaking about different timelines. I was talking about the solo fight she had with DW in cata. Didn’t realize you were talking about the second war fight between them. Either way, she gave up a portion of her power to the demon soul, not the whole thing. The demon soul was designed to allow DW to combat the burning legion and control the other dragonflights since, like you said, he’s the only one that didn’t give up a portion of his power. With that being said, she still had the powers of an aspect, albeit probably at like 50-75% of what she once had before the demon soul was made. So she was still an extremely powerful dragon even being starved, beaten and depleted. But this current version of Alex is even weaker then the second war version since she has NONE of the powers of an aspect. Which is why a major part of this expansion is helping Alex and the others get those aspect powers back. It doesn’t surprise me that she got worked by an ancient dragon that was just as powerful as she was 10000 years ago (and that was without the titan power up) and who probably now got even more powered up by the primalists.
@@JamailvanWestering so she still had half of her aspect powers. However you want to slice and dice it, Alex pre-cata was far more powerful then Alex now. Even when she was at her weakest during the second war, she could still put up a fight. Also, Alex herself admitted that even after being empowered by the titans, it took everything to beat and imprison the incarnates, showing how powerful they really were. So again, it’s not surprising that a no aspect Alex would get worked by a fully empowered incarnate like razageth.
I think the fight at Grim Batol between Alex and Deathwing was great. I mean it was made about ten years ago. I loved the scene when playing it back then during the game.
@@furdieallianz2079 It was cool as hell when it was new, I loved it back then too, but I replayed that zone recently as part of the DF hype and it definitely shows its age.
WoW's story is so inconsisstant on a gameplay and power scaling level. You go from destroy the Legion, killing the final Old God in a scene ripped straight out of Dragon Ball Z, to killing the WoW equivalent of the devil (Along with everything else in the Shadowlands that would no doubt 1-shot this T-rexed armed Helya reincarnation), to now just fighting a proto dragon who has the same revenge story as Helya and the Jailer? And like...she's supposed to be a final boss, and with it being an expansion above everything else, that would technically maker her stronger than EVERYTHING ELSE we've faced. Wtf?
One thing to remember is when we've fought all those big bads we were a LOT stronger as characters then we are now. In legion we had access to some of the most powerful weapons in WoWs history in the artifact weapons (and the random survival hunter spear) plus the help of the titans themselves in the final fight. In BfA we were drawing power directly from Azeroth herself and expended pretty much all of it to kill N'zoth (although 100% agree that cutscene wasn't great). To kill the Jailer we again had to get help from Azeroth in the final fight and had our covenant bonds. In DF we don't have any of that, we're just adventurers again, no ancient artifacts or cosmic powers, just fighters and casters taking down a big dragon using our own powers/skills.
@@khoado9512 Meh, killing dragons is about as impactful as a Deadmines run; I might technically be in the wrong - I don't need the loot, don't care, and didn't solve the underlying problem. Ultimately if all you accomplish is die/get corrupted/occasionally hand out power boosts, I'm hard pressed to care when bad things happen to the derpy dragon folks. Hell Wrathion's dragon kill ratio is pretty high and he kicked off two global conflicts that killed WAY more people than Raszageth, but he's still a good guy.
You know Im always surprised that when a wyvern (or wyvern-like dragon) figts a dragon, that the dragon doesn't use much of their four legs. Razageth has the same amount of limbs but her forlegs are just tine weak trex arms. So very useless, while alex has four strong legs which can mage much damage, or hold onto that wings, while she still has her wings for use. Instead they just bodyslam each other and no one does much damage. I mean Razageth holds on to one forleg, then girl use your hindlegs like the dragons in HOD do lol

I actually do fancy it that way. It's like they're superior beings bestowed with titanic or primal elemental powers, you know :) And their voice is made heard simply by willing it. Moving your lips, tongue and vocal cords is something for the lesser races. My take on it !
So from Elemental Lords, Titan Keepers, Corrupted Dragon Aspects, Old Gods, Titans, Naarus, Jailer, Sargeras, Demon Lords, Undead Lords, LK, and other Op creatures. We're now back with this dragon? It's not even an amped dragon, its just a proto-dragon/drake. How would that be of any threat? Even LK is probably stronger than her, considering the dragon aspects failed to deal with him. And let's be honest, as cool as he is, LK was a pretty weak villain.
Azeroth and other totans might not even be titans but powerful elementals that order wants to corrupt same way void wants. All other titans may have also been corrupted by order aka arcane. Remember the old gods corrupt ed world soul with void magic, Sargeras got infused with fel and Argus with death magic
is that really the same red dragon that took on deathwing and nearly won (back in cata), spending too long on her throne in Northrend (or waiting for whatever in twilight) made her weak (smh)
First her throne is in the Wrymrest temple, second her epic fight against Deathwing that almost finished him was because she had her aspectral powers at that time. Here she is drained of her Titan gifted powers because she sacrifice them to kill Deathwing.
Why is Alexstasza so tiny now. She used to fight Deathwing on the top of a mountain. Why doe Raszageth AGAIN just fly away instead of pressing on. This is terrible writing again!
Alexstrasza doesn't have any of the aspect power that she had when she faced deathwing, besides, it doesn't seem logical to you that if someone locks you up for 10,000 years causing you suffering, killing her would be little?
We'll never see anything cuts to the meat of things. You'd expect to see scales or at least see a torn wing. Warcraft has become to neutered to it's own detriment.
What a compilation of the most cliche phrases any antagonist character from any game universe could share with a protagonist, while also performing such an "epic" and "dramatic" fight. The clumsy animation alongside the absence of any mouth movement add to the cringe. Feels like I'm just watching a scene of a child playing with his toys and voicing them inside his head. This really is hard to watch.
@@Immortalizz02 Thats not entirely true, I can't remember if they talked in any cinematics, but in-game there is plenty of cases, like the deathwing quests in twilight highlands, Ysera in val'sharah, the blue drakes in the quest where Kalec became the blue aspect, those are what I can easily remember, but sure, there are times in the past that they don't move their mouths too, I just find it strange.

And, usually, elemental forces (thunder) are less powerful than conceptual magic (life)
Still don't know why she didn't finish her off. Wrathion didn't mess her up that badly.
If someone locks you up for 10 thousand years, are you just killing him like that after you break free?! I am going destroy her egg, all the red dragon, and everything she ever cares about after that coming after her
@@moonshadowsong And that would be the perfect way to get revenge on Alexstrasza, not just due to her past, but also because she feels more torment over the loss of life than anyone else.
Well...that wasn't too bad. But...there is more, right?
There should be. And Alexstrasza should’ve realised her mistake by now.
She would be terrifying if she didn't have those adorably tiny arms. Alexstraza clawing her is almost mocking her of that fact.
The Protodrakes' tiny forelimbs are a reference to tyrannosaurus, given that the protodrakes are supposed to be prehistoric, thus the dinosaurian design
I just hope that this isn't another story where my character is mainly just a spectator to the WoW writing teams super special please do not steal OC's.
I'm like a tenth of the way through the Waking Shores and it really feels that way already...

Like I understand that the team can’t write stories around the Player Character the same way that FFXIV does.
My problem with the modern stories is that they are written like movies. But we don’t have a part in them at all even though we are the ones facilitating progress
gee, i wonder if leaving Alex alive will result in her killing the new big bad someday...
So what is this "world that gave us life" that Raszageth spoke of? Wasn't the world corrupted by the Old Gods sometime before the Galakrond and stuff? I am waiting for the story to evolve into Old Gods again, possibly Xal'atath returning with friends.
The Old Gods and their armies (Insectid and The Elemental Lords) fought against the minions of the Titans (Titanforge)
After the Elemental Lords were sealed away on the Elemental Plane (which makes them helping these dragons highly questionable) and the armies were sealed away..
Basically making this entire story, bull
proto dragons evolved from the elements and are one of the few nativ races of azeroth
@@barator03 they didn’t, it were the Titans that gave them life itself, the elements were sealed away by that point
@@JamailvanWestering the elements, proto drake and the trolls were pretty much native in azeroth. The old gods and titans came later on fighting over the ownership of azeroth.
@@sowhat1674 except they weren’t, because had those creatures be alive they would have all died.. the Old Gods controlled the Elemental Lords..
The Old Gods were there from the beginning, hence why Y’shaarshj corrupting influence was felt all over Pandaria
Boy I sure hope Razsageth doesn't come to regret (gloating speech) and letting (significant character) live instead of easily killing them and ending (expansion) on the spot! I hope for their sake some clown in a banana suit doesn't stop them from (goofy aah plot to remake some power structure) right as they succeed, giving us a pyrrhic victory which we've never had before!
Don't forget the part where she goes "Fools! I was not the enemy! The true..threat....is soon...to come.. *Dies* "
Coming back to this a year later, I don’t think she regrets any of this at all. Considering her main goal was freeing her siblings - she got what she wanted, even if it meant she was to die for it.
Raszageth = Flying T-Rex!Karen
Is Raszageth voiced by Debra Wilson? Because she sounds like Jormag. I'm here for evil raspy dragons!
Does raszagath knows that it's the titans gave life to Azeroth. If weren't for the titans the Olds Gods would still be ruling Azeroth.
Not really, proto-drakes evolved naturally from elementals, as did basilisks, trolls, and apparently other creatures from Un'goro crater, though it was a good thing they drove out the black empire
@@alexfoudraine5886correct me if i'm wrong didn't titans made un'goro crater. Just like other site that gave birth to other creature. I haven't read the warcraft chronicle that blizzard made.
Un'goro crater was designated by the Titans as one of many areas to experiment with life forms, they created and placed many creatures there, but the Titanic watcher left in charge of the crater tells you that there was already life there before the arrival of the titans
In the start, Raszageth has a good point, buuuut she kinda lost her high ground by the end.
I'm sorry, I can't take Raszageth seriously with those tiny T-Rex arms.
I don't know who's who, but I like the red one.
Alexstrasza = Red Dragoness
Gotta love already posting cinematics meanwhile huge chunk of playerbase isn't even able to get into the game, sad
Is it weird I wish they ressurected Galakrond I wonder how that would go?
2:34 "When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die”
This was an overall pretty well done cutscene but man, Alexstrasza getting electrocuted mid-air and then just falling down looked so cartoonishly funny lol
This is exactly what happens though. Electric eels can shock an alligator and it just goes totally rigid, muscles seizing up and there's a reasonable possibility that it just drowns. Makes sense that Alex would just freeze and fall.
@@HiveFleetOni still looks goofy
@Craig Barrie Brother I think they get that 🤓
@@HiveFleetOni thats not how electricity works though.
What do you mean, "getting"?
😢
I heard it was awful
Blizzard writers probably have no idea it even happened, or just decided to retcon it.
@@Wolfarior It wasn’t retconned. Malygos is still dead, as is Deathwing.
She never told you what happened to your father
Raszageth : chooses Thunder attack "Pikaaaa"
Good dragon vs Evil dragon
My god, I don’t feel anything for this cinematic .. just nothing..
This fight.. it just rings hollow..
Need I remind people that during Day of the Dragon, a beaten, starved and near depleted Alexstraza was able to hold her own against Deathwing (not for long but still she held her own)
And now apparently she can’t defeat a dragon that has been empowered apparently by the Elemental Lords, that aren’t even on the level of the Pantheon + that’s she’s just a proto drake not even intelligent on the level of Alexstraza
@@fahimp except if you read War of the Ancients the Dragon Aspects gave more than a portion more like 50%
@@JamailvanWestering so she still had half of her aspect powers.
Kkkkkkkkkkkk olha essa pora, parece como treinar seu dragão.
Dragons' jaws are really weak huh
Haven't played the new expansion yet... but from what I've seen so far this new "villain" already annoys me.
Geez that dracthyr got stun locked mid hover. :(
THIS is what the fight between Alexstrasza and Deathwing over Grim Batol should have been.
I think the fight at Grim Batol between Alex and Deathwing was great. I mean it was made about ten years ago. I loved the scene when playing it back then during the game.
@@furdieallianz2079 It was cool as hell when it was new, I loved it back then too, but I replayed that zone recently as part of the DF hype and it definitely shows its age.
who is who please explain

Why are they not using their mouths. Do they speak in their minds or was blizzard just too lazy?
You know Im always surprised that when a wyvern (or wyvern-like dragon) figts a dragon, that the dragon doesn't use much of their four legs. Razageth has the same amount of limbs but her forlegs are just tine weak trex arms. So very useless, while alex has four strong legs which can mage much damage, or hold onto that wings, while she still has her wings for use. Instead they just bodyslam each other and no one does much damage. I mean Razageth holds on to one forleg, then girl use your hindlegs like the dragons in HOD do

Raszageth may have tiny trex arms but she has muscular wings. And them' wings also have a huge pincer finger for stabbing the opponent.

The decision to make dragons talk telepathically was so dumb.
is that really the same red dragon that took on deathwing and nearly won (back in cata), spending too long on her throne in Northrend (or waiting for whatever in twilight) made her weak (smh)
This is literally when we arrive at the Isles. Razsageth can’t be killed until we do the Vault of the Incarnates.
