I think the game is in such a bad state that it’s borderline unwatchable. A billion dollar industry using part timers with seconds jobs to officiate the games. Embarrassing. Bring in full time, paid umpires that can be dropped or promoted based on merit
Another fantastic video again mate. I think your theory in the video does have some merit to be true, and honestly, the concept you come up with for the start of next season SHOULD already be a standard implemented. Have no idea why it's not but anyway, keep it up. And yes, even though that Hawthorn decision dudded my team a win in Tassie, I think it's closer to the right decision than wrong, since it was a late bump and it did creep up to, which they HAVE been calling all year. A bunch of the other decisions over the years including if we remember, the Dogs and Swans (I think it was that game but I could be wrong) where Rampe decided to climb the post and shake it, which in the rules, should've costed the Swans a free kick in front, but SO many decisions not mentioned in this video as examples highlights that some umpires need more training on the rules. Will say it's hard to do that when the rules almost keep changing week to week too, but it's DEFINITELY on the AFL to get this fixed, and QUICKLY before the Finals series because I KNOW for a fact, it could cost a team a flag, and all fans don't want that
I am yet to see the 4th umpire show a reason why they should be there. If anything they've made heaps of incorrect behind play calls like the mac andrew one lmao Got a great idea on how the afl can save some money. Also Laura Kane saying the umpire calling "stand" would make it a 50 is straight up wrong, even if they dont you cant run over the mark lmao she has genuinely no clue (or more likely knows they're wrong but are lying to make them look less bad)
DEI appointments are always a disaster. Look at the USA Secret Service female DEI who has just quit in disgrace. Kane is just as arrogant and incompetent …
On the sam draper one if the AFL wants to make the excuse That it's hard to see than maybe it's time to try and umpire in a box watching on a monitor who is in contact with the field umpires and can overrule them love the boyfriend analogy btw sums up the AFL perfectly
Ive said this for years... if a maggo.. umpy buggas up, he gets dragged... like players do.. The crowd wd go boonta and umps wdnt make so many blatant errors!! Edit: Great video mate! Hopefully it reaches the right ears! (not Trumps right ear, the AFL and umpires board).
The AFL has about 3-4 years left before it is objectively unwatchable. Whether its bad umpiring or rule changes out of fear of legal issues the writing is on the wall.
Mate, questionable umpiring has has been an issue forever.I stopped attending matches back in 1987 for that very reason and only watch a quarter now and then on the telly. My absence does not matter.Crowds keep increasing and the league continues to grow richer.
Frees against Yeo and Andrew were waaaaaaaay over the top, definitely WRONG. If you paid those every time there would be 200 frees a game. The not 50m penalty to North was just bizarrer and made even moreso by a completely nonsenical "explanation" from the AFL!! 😂😮
What are you talking about umpiring is in the best state it’s ever been… who doesn’t love a game ripped away from a team based on the moron in green 😂 I mean even last week in the NM v CARL game there were big decisions made on the Blues side in the last qurter which took the game away from the kangas.
The amount of times I’ve seen players get tackled and then an incorrect disposal and no hold on the ball called is sickening. You’ve got the reward the tackler footy is about common sense it seems the AFL is far from that and there new rule system with umpires and the tribunal needs to be gutted you’re making a mockery of the game Andrew Dillon & Laura Kane need to be held accountable.
Maybe I'm being soft on the umps but I reckon the problem is the constant rule changes, what chance is there for the umps to keep up? On top of that are the rules themselves have gotten ridiculous, half of them require the umpires to be mind readers (e.g. was it deliberent or insufficient intent)
Lost respect for McBurney completely after that week. Somehow the hawks call was fine, and so was the norf one, but ours wasn’t? Come on mate, whether ours was a free or not, the other 2 were robberies too.
It's not that AFL umpiring is bad, it's that it is stage managed to bring in as much money as possible. Until they fix it I will stick to watching WWF because while that is also rigged, they at least admit it.
I find complaining about umpiring only creates worse umpiring. Gerard and robbo went on a crusade earlier on the year about holding the ball. AFL caved as opposed to internal review. 8 weeks later and there is more inconsistencey and gerard and robbo are complaining again. Without showing any awareness that them constantly meddling in a very nuanced area creates flow on effects that they could not anticipate. Highlighting umpiring decisions is counter productive. Umpires are reviewing all these things. Umpires are aware of all these things. Changing things slowly and assuredly creates confidence. Reacting to bad publicity creates bad , indecisive umpiring. Believe me. If you just shut up and let them umpire and give them directions at end of season about how the AFL would like to seee the game evolve. This would create much better and consistent results. It is one of the hardest games in the world to umpire......Us critiquing, second guessing or judging every decision is counterproductive. let them be...let them be better
When you let cheats and criminals win, then you run the risk of being ruled by a Hawke or even worse, an Albanese. Only way to stop the cheating is to call it out, which is why the AFL outlawed all and any dissent about the cheating umpires. At leaat 2 retired umpires have spoken out , admitting they never read the rule book. You umpire as told to, or you dont get paid the big dollars.....about $5,000 a week, which is almost $10,000 a game.
How in the hell do you make a video about the useless AFL and their fixed umps without bringing up the 3rd qtr of Essendon v Geelong. That was the most diabolical display of incompetence I've ever seen. The AFL completely folded to Geelong over that game. Hand waved it away as an 'oopsie' and moved on. I haven't watched more than 10mins of AFL since turning that game off at the end of the 3rd. Don't even get started on the current state of the tribunal and players getting rubbed out for textbook tackles. Dillon & Kane are fucking useless.
Bcos I was talking about decisions in last QTRs, like I said in the video. I also didn’t mention the umpiring being fixed. I’m sure there are some aspects of umpires being paid in world sport to make different calls or trying to get bets but I didn’t cover that in the video other than a mention of umpire Pell who has allegedly done some shady stuff
Thats a good idea. Quit my full-time job, become an AFL umpire (if I get lucky enough) and then get on the inside of the AFL to make differences to the rules and how they are adjudicated by myself. I hope this is a satire comment and isn't real because my god is this ridiculous

That Rampe call was against Essendon. The players were all over it but as usual, the Swans got another gift.
@@mytwosense9135 Thanks for the the game confirmation, much appreciated

That Yeo call stings because not only was he hit with a dubious free, they missed the holding the ball against Wardlaw as well
Lifelong fan here ex 20 year AFL member and attended 13 GF. I now have little to no interest in the AFL. I attend local football games.
Umpiring has been bad for decades but this year is just about the worst I've ever seen
7:41 as soon as I heard you say that, I knew what was coming; classic 😆
Right in front of me 😮😂
Absolute match fixing and there should be a ROYAL COMMISSION ON THE AFL. 😡
Looks like it
Laura Kane and Andrew Dillon are an absolute disgrace and need to be sacked immediately

But Sportsbet would have gone broke if they had to pay out a North win….
The whole Afl department should be sacked they are a disgrace
tonights collingwood v sydney was a perfect examples of this whole video
The AFL telling Umpires how to officiate is the number 1 problem...they should butt out it's not there role
Why do the AFL put umpires in the same colours as the team's playing?
match fixing i sense

Umps making the Hawks a thing this year. Dirty Ginni teaching the whole forwards how to scam frees.
Also we just need to get rid of the stand rule and be done with it

The games weakness is the rules are not black and white, they are interpreted.
We have to call for heads to roll. That’s the only way.
They favour Vicco & Eastern state teams over others.
