Thanks Ben that makes a lot of sense and helps with my decision to stay with the AGM set up I. Currently have.

Hi Ven thank you for the detailed look at the battery system setups that I have available on the market. I think Lithium ion battery system will be the go ahead for me. Thank you again 👍👍👍👍👍

Great, informative video. Many people have lost to the art to explaining technical 'things' to those NOT in the know..... you haven't. You should have made the title for your video 'Lithium for Dummies'

How much would a system like this cost to supply and have professionally installed? Also interested in how you correctly/safety ground your inverter as there seems to be a lot of competing views on this.

    hi
Disappointing part of using batteries is the the power u use is equal to your recharge ability
Eg 200watts solar recharges approx. 48Ah in 24 hr period [not including mppt or sun outside of PSH, peak sun hours ]
    So 500watts solar = 125Ah recharge ability
AGM 2x 120 ah usable capacity 120ah = recharge ok
Lithium 2 x 150ah 80% usable 240ah = Unable to use all available capacity due to limited recharge
** Lithium benefit is ability to be able to have high discharge ability

Hi Ben, thanks for the video, when you run your mains from your inverter how do you have an earth, this could be an issue with non double insulated and metal appliances, particularly if you used your outside 240V power outlet on the side of your van and you are in contact with the ground.

So when you unplug from mains power you van automatically uses the inverter, so your fridge doesn’t switch over to 12v power or gas if you have a 3 way, sounds like you might want to rethink it.

Hi Jorji, Good point that you make. We normally have the power point for the fridge not powered by the inverter in order to avoid this problem. So when you are free camping your fridge will be running off gas if it is a 3 way model or off the 12V power if it is a compressor fridge. I did forget to mention this in the video.

      Hi Ben,
Great video, make sure the 240v charger is also not connected to the inverter output. Also in the next video if you can cover the product suppliers of the components your having installed and cost to typical customer not your trade price.

Problem with Lithium batteries eBay is full of ones that say 100AH but are rated way lower , thats why i stay with the AGM

Another video making claims about the amount of energy available AGM vs Lithium. If only people would tell the whole story, you need to look at the duty cycle of any battery. Look up the specs and check what battery life you have when cycling down to ‘x’ percentage, this will allow the user to make a far more informed approach to battery life.
Yes, Lithium has more amps on offer but check the duty cycle of the battery to gain a real world understanding of what a battery life cycle will deliver based on the percentage draw down, this applies to all batteries regardless of the chemistry..
