  • I continue making progress in building out my DIY expedition camper on a customized EarthCruiser CORE #4 Mitsubishi Fuso 4x4 and share with you my build-out experience, sharing with you the installation of the three interconnected grey water tanks within the chassis rails after spin-welding on their fittings, installing the screened tank vents, and 1" microbial drain hose and 1" stainless electronic drain ball valve. Preparation almost complete for installing the Total Composites camper onto the Fuso. I plan on using my expedition camper on this truck chassis for long-term domestic and global travels with its Offroad all-season capable expedition truck with four-wheel drive for full-time DIY RV travels, adventures and exploration.

Great videos! Not criticizing but I noticed you commented on the vent location several times. In our van, we would have preferred the fresh water vent location to be in the center of the tank to minimize leakage from sloshing. I do realize this is for gray water as well.

Thank you. Yes, the vent in the center should reduce sloshing, although in this case most of the sloshing should be from braking so the vent in the rear should reduce it over a front or possibly a center vent, but since these are located outside of the camper space, the location of the vent was really more important to be accessible from under the truck and reaching above, in case ever needing to clean one out. Unlikely to have to do but good to have that ability. My fresh water tank vents are located more in the middle of them and they will be installed within the camper space and the vent run up high into a protected area of the shower space so an overflow will just go down the shower drain.

Maybe you are already planning to do the following: I've seen a build where the pee from a composting toilet goes to a tank under the living box AND they have a separate gray water tank for sink/shower. When they empty the tanks, they empty the pee first and then the gray tank feeds into the pee tank to flush it out. All of that was done with electronic ball valves. Anyway it seemed like a good idea to me.

Thanks for sharing. That is what I am planning, although waiting on the compost toilet choice but tanks are set up to accommodate that.
