What all he said is correct .. except which i mentioned below..
1. Don't choose a fund because it has a low expense ratio.. Expense ratio differs time to time...MF change expense ratio based on their AUM and to beat their competitors...
Eg. Navi mutual fund - it is a new index fund and they have a low expense ratio to attract investors
2. Another metric to choose an index fund is by AUM .. AUM of the fund should be higher (higher the better, at least more than 1000cr). Why because if someone invested 10cr in a fund which has 150 cr AUM - if he withdraws from the fund, the funds NAV units will be falling so it will impact our investment.. in case of fund with higher AUM value will not impact the NAV when someone withdraws a bulk amount
E.g. - Navi mutual fund have a low AUM since it is a new fund - so it's not recommended to invest there
3. There is no need to choose multiple funds in the same index (eg. Nifty) because all the funds are going to invest in same 50 companies so there won't be much difference in performance... So invest in only one nifty 50 index fund don't need multiple nifty 50 funds
If you want you can invest in other types of index funds (e.g. nifty next 50/ nifty 100)

On your point 2, I agree Navi has low AUM. But, even big AMCs like UTI started with low AUM right?

1. Profits earned or losses from the companies where the fund has invested
2. When the Funds expense ratio changes
3. Dividend pay-outs if it is dividend fund
4. Investor entry or exit
@@kishanlal676 yes but UTI is now at 7000 cr if any set of investors withdraws 30 crore it won't impact the fund NAV but incase of Navi(350cr AUM) it'll definitely imapct
If you want to take that risk you can invest in NAVI

As they say compounding is the 8th wonder of the world.
Few things to consider.
- You should invest the money in index which you don't want to touch for next 15 years
- Create liquid funds using MMF or Debt funds before investing into equity funds
- Most important - Compounding works long term. Meaning if you invest 30,000 you won't get the same returns in half the period.

A small tip I would like to add to your comments..
Don't invest the whole in index fund alone. Since all the amc that is mutual fund shares the same amount of stocks for example nifty index fund uti and motilal if we take most probably the chance of repeating the stocks is gonna be 75% so it might not be recommended but we can also do investments in sector based funds, large cap, midcap and small cap..
I just came to the market by January started my journey as an investor not as a trader😅. Sip is the best tool not to loose the money.
