    G'Day George,
    A magnificent looking brown trout.
    I do most of my fishing in a pair of PVC thigh waders or I wet wade during the summer in heavy cotton pants and canvas jungle boots. A few times, I've had large tiger snakes have a go at me, when I haven't seen them in the undergrowth. Not a pleasant experience when wet wading ! I've also had snakes swim by me and been very relieved that they didn't mistake me for a bush.
    Cheers,
    Steve

    Waders 🤦‍♂️ Just replaced G3’s , leaked after 15 years. Absolutely owed me nothing. But probably not used heavily, maybe 20 outings a year ! Just bought Wychwood , So far so good . Yes they can be troublesome. What a trout, epic fishing, fishing at its finest. Absolutely outstanding George 🤩👏👏👏👏

    I’ve a pair of G3’s for over 6 years only a couple small leaks now. Never leave them balled up in the boot of the car and always dry them after use. Repairs should be done on the inside. Only have to look at what guides are wearing in Alaska, Montana etc. 90% simms. Nothing will survive barbwire and bushwhacking though but simms are far heavier than most. Great video as always!

    Super good with honest people..
    I have almost the exact same experience as you with waders.
    Started with PVC went to Neopren to Goretex with leaks.. A friend worked at a fishing shop told me that Simms is the shit all the guides use Simms. But thoose expensive ripoff Simms and they leaked as all of the rest. Today I always look for the cheapest ones with boots attached. Same with wader jackets...
    Rods did I buy Sage or Loomis all the way back since the 90s. Tried Vision Mag and 35% of the cost for a Sage I ve got a way better rod with the Mag...
    Love your video..

    Brilliant footage mate. Your new camera has really made your videos clearer, more defined, just the quality is better, especially the sound. Re. waders, l agree they are all vastly overpriced and are all likely to tear on the riverbank.
    I've got Vision waders, medium price range. No where near the Simms, Patagonia, top end Orvis price range. Had them for five seasons now, still as tight as a drum. Now l don't think they would have had quiet as much use as yours but five seasons and going strong is pretty good. By the way, l love Orvis gear, l've got a couple of their Recon rods and two Battenkill ll reels, love them. Also got a pair of their wading boots, again they would have been mid range. Never had any issues with them, soles are solid. Just added studs for limestone streams in Wales and Devon. Again in their fifth season.
    Good luck with your new waders mate.
    Cheers!

    Hi George, great video as usual. Great camera work. As for the waders! We are seduced by all the rhetoric from across the Atlantic. Don't know about you, but waders are not in my book a fashion item. Consequently my friends and I usually use PVC [which can make you perspire admittedly] but will take a fair bit of hammer. I have also used a pair form GYBE who make then using the same materials as used in diving suits. 8 years and still going strong.

    Hi George, great angling and great video, well done. I agree with your views on waders, no matter what I paid for them to date mine have all been fine to start with but then start to become a bit porous after which they quickly become useless. My most recent pair are guideline , not expensive but seem better than most of their predecessors so far. Be assured I have absolutely nothing to do with that company.

    Question please Sir. I have a lovely 5WT fly rod, lovely to cast etc, BUT i think im losing to many fish on it. You use a 3WT, do you think the 3Wt keeps the fish buttons up a lot better than a 5Wt because its more flexible? thank you. Sorry i should also say the average size of the trout in my local river is about 11 inches, or half a pound cheers!

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  2 роки тому +1

      There could be many reasons why you might be losing fish,I caught many fish on different weight rods and there was no real difference,I think you may need to look a little deeper into the issue than the rod weight.

    I've got the g3 and love them. Solid waders at 5 years old and roughly 500 hours(quite likely even more) on them. They are standing up nicely. I would recommend not wearing waders whenever possible to prolong their life. Wet wading can be refreshing with a pair of quick dry pants.

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  2 роки тому +1

      You wouldn't wet wade where I fish,and that's for sure.And of course they would last longer if not worn.

It seems your troubles with waders may be unique to your situation.

      @@marksmangl exactly my point!!! IRELAND has unique conditions that other countries dont have. I see people in waders when its 30°C
      If the briar and barbwire are so prevalent where you fish then pack the waders in and put them on stream side. Gundog should have prefaced the review saying there is not a wader known to man that can survive the Irish wilds. Your orvis waders will fail/disappoint just as quickly!!! Been looking forward to this video, cracking fish & fight, Is a trout that size rare in that river or wud u say there’s bigger again? As for waders I’m pretty new to chest waders, last year I went as cheap as I could find and got Leeda waders and boots, they lasted me 7 months and completely fell apart, this year I’m on vision atom so far so good. I’m on the river once or twice a week

  • @shortcircuit7310
    @shortcircuit7310 2 роки тому +1

    For me anyway, waders are a curse. The expensive ones leak just as easy as the cheap. For me I think a big issue is that for the rivers we fish, there are often briars etc that we have to fight through to get to the river. Some places I fish the bank access is steep enough and I have to half step, half arse-slide down to the river and I'm certain that I have put holes in my waders that way. I got so frustrated with breathable waders leaking that I switched to a pair of Vass PVC waders. They are not as light and comfortable as breathables but they are more robust. Not infallible though I still have a few holes which I got because I went through some dense sceach bushes when I should have gone around

    too hard to get to the other side😂😂😂 so I always have a change of clothes in my truck to wear on my return! Nothing comfortable
