Sometimes I drop the pallet in a hurry, to give me a space. Even if the hunter have a blink, it's only working for 100 seconds after later, and I can reach the pallet again after that
But most of the time the hunter would not walk through the pallet I mean as a hunter Maybe it’s because I play Wu Chang which has a Long hit box but I would tend to bait the survivor to drop the pallet first
Oh I meant like if hunter places a tentacle, you can judge which direction its in if you cant see it, or if they break a pallet or vault a window behind a wall when you cant directly see but yeah thats still totally viable since now you can count 150 seconds until the next blink in your head

I pulled my first 5 cipher kite in rank in the corner of arms factory near the exit gate that he mentioned! I never even needed to use any transitions or pallets, it was just me, those 3 windows, and broken windows, and we got a 4 man victory!
Me a dead by daylight veteran who knows pallets are very limited in that game seeing every survivor in idv drop every pallet in the map when they see a hunter across the map

A note about the last one: If there’s quite a bit of distance between you and the hunter and you’re at a pallet that’s set up like the ones at the shack (there’s a wall so you can hide behind both the pallet and said wall so the hunter can’t see you), you can go and hide behind the pallet. Immediately after you get there, start going where you were normally going (this only works if the hunter won’t be able to see you running to your destination). If you do it right, the hunter may think you’re hiding behind the pallet and try to hit it. If not, the hunter will keep going but it won’t cost you any extra time and the pallet is saved for later use. Because of the perspective of *most* hunters, they won’t be able to see if you’re behind the pallet or not, however the camera angles of a few will allow you to.
Thats incredibly risky and goes against my rule of not walking behind the pallet so hunter could just swing at you. These are tips to help you play safe, not risky. Besides, leaderboard hunters wouldnt fall for that but im glad its working for you :)
Sikey it worked quite a few times against the two s badge I went up against but idk I’m not high ranked as a survivor so I don’t face them frequently. Additionally, I’m a leaderboard hunter and it works quite a bit personally for me if I’m not ready to counter it.
other tips i know: you can know if the hunter is nearby sometimes because sometimes you can see their silhouettes from far away don't hide in lockers as they can hear you breathing
Another useful tip for kiting is Hunters' intuition. What do I mean? Is know their playstyles. Like when they blink or skill? This is where you develop your prediction skills. To develop your intuition, play hunter and develop their skill set.
Thats a very good tip. Whenever a new hunter comes out, I always play them for a while to understand how that specific hunter will use their abilities to win, and then I flip it back to the survivor and question how do I counter that.
12:36 tip number ten is honestly one of the best tips especially with the newer hunters. I used to have troubles kiting vio and after learning to predict his notes- my team trusted me best to kite him.
Tysm, this helps a lot!!! Especially when I’m starting to main Emil rather then my old mains, it’s makes it easier to play him since he’s a kiting character!
12:45 I recently went up with a sculptor the very next game, as you said; I expected what she expected of what I, a survivor, would expect to do to survive. However, I expected that she would expect I would expect her expectation of that move so I expectingly dodged a fresh statue she expectingly placed to catch me mid-animation. I was able to loop her for three more pallettes because I caught her off guard, her expectations were reasonable however I watched a video teaching me to expect hunters expecting your moves on a chase. Thank you sir, that was not confusing at all.

I’m *extremely* late but another good sound to listen for is the sound you hear when the hunter is choosing where to teleport. The little whispering chant sounds
Ping matters. I mean, i can definitely see who has medium or good ping, because it is harder to hit them. People with 200+ ping are usually getting hit much farther. The second most need-to-know thing is pallet stun, which is actually so hard because i think they nerfed pallet stun range. In 2018 if hunter was even close to pallet he could get hit easily. I think it was when they were fixing basement lag (the one where you were lagging back and foresrd if you didn’t have green ping).

An exception for the in front of the pallet thing is Emma, if you time her shield right you can have them hit you while standing in the pallet zone, wait for the animation to play and then pallet stun them.
Despite the fact I’ve been playing regularly (I’d only played twice before) for about 16 days, I’ve only managed a 5 cipher kite twice which I am not very proud of, so these tips will be very useful. Thank you!
Dont beat yourself up over it. If youre facing very good hunters, you will almost never 5 cipher kite, I can tell you from experience. It used to happen much more back when the best hunter was clown and it was much easier for a skilled survivor to do well since clown is so hard to use, but now not so much.
as an axe boy main, i avoid vaulting windows or breaking pallets, since my speed for it is so slow and i usually lose them. so yes, make sure to drop them if u need it, don’t stun unless u know u 100% can and not get terrorshocked
I remember the first time I used pallet and I didn't go all the way through it, the hunter was chasing me and I dropped it but since I wasnt on the other side, it dropped and kept me on the side the hunter was on. I got hit : /

In the past the problem was a very small screen (that might still be a problem for streams since I dont play on phone for that, ipad has really bad dimensions for recording). I think another tip in some maps is looking very very far ahead, if there's no wall in between, you can see the silhouette of the characters and know who they are and where are they going

The looking back thing is especially important with a Wu because if you’re far away from him the Wu will probably try to teleport to you so if you look back you can predict where he is gonna teleport and you can easily move the opposite direction and i know this cuz im a wu main and this has happened a lot to me and it’s very important when you’re kiting him
For the pallet tip, my advise is to crouch behind the pallet, where the hunter can’t hit you. When they walk in, you can immediately stun them, but quickly switch to running.

On tip No.10 it barely works on blink trait for reminder unless if the hunter is someone like Leo or Mad Eye since in early game we don't know yet what trait hunter has and even if we already know that,it is still hard to predict for a reason for having a very long cooldown time. Why Leo and Mad Eye are an exception is because there were "trait force" hunter which makes it obvious to have blink,what I meant about trait force hunter is certain hunters greatly gains an advantage with certain traits because of those traits cover their downsides (Mad Eye,Leo and Wu Chang have blink trait force but Wu Chang can also use peeper nevertheless blink is mostly better because of a peeper nerf long time ago). Some hunters like clown were seemingly trait force but they don't because it doesn't cover their downsides but instead improves their strengths like clown who is seemingly blink trait force but teleport works almost as good as blink in large maps,Dream witch who is seemingly patroller trait force but blink is technically better but trickier to cover their weakness and lastly Joseph who is seemingly blink trait force but teleport or peeper also works fine on him
Sometimes if you look backwards you don’t know where you are going when I play as thief and look at hunter with flashlight I don’t see what’s behind me and lose time
6:06 i kinda already know to get behind a pallet even without watching this video, but my problems with that now is that before i can get behind they hit me cuz they have so long hitboxes which is why magician is the best counter to this cuz he can use his wands
It depends on the pallet. Some pallets like the ones in ruins on arms factory are great examples of ones you can easily stay behind. On others it might not be possible
Ahaha I still remember my teammate got hit by lost foggy blade in front of big ship... And you know that's foogy blade is from shack in the back gate like holy shit like how can that happen
Ive had times as ripper when I was playing on circus, I shot a foggy blade across the river, and it kept flying and flying all the way to the wall on the opposite side of the map until it actually hit someone. I was so surprised that it didnt hit a single object the entire way there. It wasnt even on purpose
I find it easier to predict hunter moves but very hard to drop pallet at right time and using the right windows and also using the speed properly.... usually I win in mind gaming but in terms of pallet dropping and windows and also speed boosts I always wasted them/didn’t gain more distance or sometimes even worse, it becomes closer to hunter instead of further... tq lol
Its really hard to use pallets when starting out and knowing what windows to use. Some windows are only good for boosts. The problem is where do you go with the boost? This is a big question that can be answered by knowing where the strongest part of the map is. You always want to use it to go to the strongest area to kite but thats hard to know which area is the best if youre starting out.
@@SikeyYT I realised that when using boost a lot of times I can’t transition to where I’m supposed to transition due to far distance and end up in an open area... and no I’m a year player now but play like new players... I am only good at map awareness really...

Some hunters I see when they vault a window it puts up a fence behind them. What do I do then? Also does the fence go away and does it happen every time? Cuz that always throws me off
its a persona some hunters carry, like borrowed time or detention, except this persona blocks the window for only 20 secs, so just kite and pray that the thing will go away in time
Yeah for that one you gotta think fast, but the only time youd really wait anyway is if theyre about to swing in range. Most would probably just think youd drop the pallet immediately and go for the swing.
Another tip I use if u are kitting a lot of times I try to get a pallet hit but a lot of hunters will be able to hit u remember to be a little bit away from the pallet

I was doing a wonderful thing called hiding behind a pallet and this wonderful BQ in duo hunter hit me ;-; It was one of those where I could be exactly behind the pallet
For me a game changer was playing survivors that quite can't rely on their abilities (Psychologist, TM for example) I was enchie main so I was relaying on her abilities almost all the time But there was this even u got after you haven't been logging in for some time and I got psych I started playing her It was hard at the beginning bc her ability isn't very useful while kiting (except u can get an extra hit) But I started to practice and now I'm much better when I kite So if u can't stop using ability - try playing character which ability isn't very useable while kite :D

In the past the problem was a very small screen (that might still be a problem for streams since I dont play on phone for that, ipad has really bad dimensions for recording). Im almost tempted to reupload this
Edit: You can see in this video the screen is no longer small but the text is too wide to the sides now

I think another tip in some maps is looking very very far ahead, if there's no wall in between, you can see the silhouette of the characters and know who they are and where are they going
As much as i have played (At this point like 100+ hours) at this point. Honestly these are so important it scares me.
I was confused on what pallets were and thought I never used them till I realised it's those boards and I used them plenty of times

The looking back thing is especially important with a Wu because if you’re far away from him the Wu will probably try to teleport to you so if you look back you can predict where he is gonna teleport and you can easily move the opposite direction and i know this cuz im a wu main and this has happened a lot to me and it’s very important when you’re kiting him
I have been playing since Perfumer, Mind's eye and Cowboy's release and I can't believe I still suck so much at this game.
For the pallet tip, my advise is to crouch behind the pallet, where the hunter can’t hit you. When they walk in, you can immediately stun them, but quickly switch to running.
I changed my persona tree finally after learning how important it is, and I'm kinda better at kiting now!
No matter how many tips and guides I watch about kiting I still panic and I get hit :')

On tip No.10 it barely works on blink trait for reminder unless if the hunter is someone like Leo or Mad Eye since in early game we don't know yet what trait hunter has and even if we already know that,it is still hard to predict for a reason for having a very long cooldown time. Why Leo and Mad Eye are an exception is because there were "trait force" hunter which makes it obvious to have blink,what I meant about trait force hunter is certain hunters greatly gains an advantage with certain traits because of those traits cover their downsides (Mad Eye,Leo and Wu Chang have blink trait force but Wu Chang can also use peeper nevertheless blink is mostly better because of a peeper nerf long time ago). Some hunters like clown were seemingly trait force but they don't because it doesn't cover their downsides but instead improves their strengths like clown who is seemingly blink trait force but teleport works almost as good as blink in large maps,Dream witch who is seemingly patroller trait force but blink is technically better but trickier to cover their weakness and lastly Joseph who is seemingly blink trait force but teleport or peeper also works fine on him
Sometimes if you look backwards you don’t know where you are going when I play as thief and look at hunter with flashlight I don’t see what’s behind me and lose time

It depends on the pallet. Some pallets like the ones in ruins on arms factory are great examples of ones you can easily stay behind. On others it might not be possible

Ahaha I still remember my teammate got hit by lost foggy blade in front of big ship... And you know that's foogy blade is from shack in the back gate like holy shit like how can that happen
Ive had times as ripper when I was playing on circus, I shot a foggy blade across the river, and it kept flying and flying all the way to the wall on the opposite side of the map until it actually hit someone. I was so surprised that it didnt hit a single object the entire way there. It wasnt even on purpose
I find it easier to predict hunter moves but very hard to drop pallet at right time and using the right windows and also using the speed properly.... usually I win in mind gaming but in terms of pallet dropping and windows and also speed boosts I always wasted them/didn’t gain more distance or sometimes even worse, it becomes closer to hunter instead of further... tq lol
Its really hard to use pallets when starting out and knowing what windows to use. Some windows are only good for boosts. The problem is where do you go with the boost? This is a big question that can be answered by knowing where the strongest part of the map is. You always want to use it to go to the strongest area to kite but thats hard to know which area is the best if youre starting out.
@@SikeyYT I realised that when using boost a lot of times I can’t transition to where I’m supposed to transition due to far distance and end up in an open area... and no I’m a year player now but play like new players... I am only good at map awareness really...

Some hunters I see when they vault a window it puts up a fence behind them. What do I do then? Also does the fence go away and does it happen every time? Cuz that always throws me off
its a persona some hunters carry, like borrowed time or detention, except this persona blocks the window for only 20 secs, so just kite and pray that the thing will go away in time

just a warning for wating behind paletes, if youre against a galatea if they know what theyre doing will probably place statues behind you
Yeah for that one you gotta think fast, but the only time youd really wait anyway is if theyre about to swing in range. Most would probably just think youd drop the pallet immediately and go for the swing.

Also tips for dungeon if you listen closely you can hear a wind pulling in the dungeon!
Another tip I use if u are kitting a lot of times I try to get a pallet hit but a lot of hunters will be able to hit u remember to be a little bit away from the pallet

I was doing a wonderful thing called hiding behind a pallet and this wonderful BQ in duo hunter hit me ;-;
It was one of those where I could be exactly behind the pallet
If you show me the pallet ill be able to tell you if its reasonable that she managed to hit you without at any point walking through it
For me a game changer was playing survivors that quite can't rely on their abilities (Psychologist, TM for example)
I was enchie main so I was relaying on her abilities almost all the time
But there was this even u got after you haven't been logging in for some time and I got psych
I started playing her
It was hard at the beginning bc her ability isn't very useful while kiting (except u can get an extra hit)
But I started to practice and now I'm much better when I kite
So if u can't stop using ability - try playing character which ability isn't very useable while kite :D
