Thank you for sharing this. My family lived in Martin Valley when we first came to Ocean Falls when I was 3 years old. That was 1960 and we left in 1967. It was a special place and always will be. My heart is there.
I lived there in 75 when i was in grade 7. Dad worked in the mill. I saw both houses i lived in in martin valley..wow.brings back memories. Millions of salmon run up that stream each yr. We jigged lots. I was a pinsetter in the bowling alley in town.
Our family lived in the panabode across from the graveyard until 1956 or 57. The house had a stone wall on the uphill side. Hard to tell but it looks like it's still there. In the middle 50's there was a tragic accident in that nearby inlet where two boys and a little girl over turned in a canoe and the little girl - probably my age had drowned. Very sad time for the community but mostly it was happy times and a good place to grow up. Thx for posting and great camera work.
So there’s an underwater cable to Bella Bella? I’m not being sarcastic, just curious. Who maintains the hydro station and lines? I spent part of my summer in Ocean Falls in 1952. Travelled both ways from Vancouver on the Princess Norah. Stayed with my aunt and uncle, Jack and Edith Harris.
The majority of the transmission line is on land. There is a small portion that goes underwater where the transmission line crosses over to Denny Island. The hydro generation facility and transmission lines are owned and operated by a company named Boralex.
It is the hydro electric dam @ Ocean Falls that produces power for Ocean Falls, Martin Valley, Shearwater, and Bella Bella. A lot of the folks utilize wood for heat.

nice work. I just learned about this side, I thought Ocean Falls was just one townsite.
Sure do wish someone would fly over the old logging camp in South Bentinck Arm,have not seen it since 1969.
Thanks very much!
Ocean Falls was great and so were the people. Came from South Bentick in 1958 wow for school. Anyone remember Donna and Vicky?
