- Today we are walking from Island Gardens DLR station!
lsland Gardens is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station next to Island Gardens on the Isle of Dogs, East London. It is just north of the River Thames and is close to the southern tip of the Isle of Dogs and the River Thames. We are walking from every tube station in London. Nice one! Definitely going to film in London one day:) Looks beautiful!😍
Yes please do!
Thanks for the video. I have been living in Island Gardens for 20 years and love this part of London. Would have been nice if the narrator mentioned a few more things - e.g. just beyond the Millwall Park there is Mudchute Farm (the largest city farm in Europe), there are a few schools: Canary Wharf College (primary), George Green (secondary), St Luke's CoE (primary), there is a church on Manchester Road called Christchurch, there are also a few interesting pubs in the area (Nelson, Waterman's Arms, Ship, Ferry, etc), some popular cafes and restaurants (the Indian "Gaylord" restaurant, Chinese / fish & chips takeaway on Manchester Road), the Island Gardens Park overlooks the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, as well as the famous Cutty Sark tea-clipper (restored), Dickens Inn pub, the Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory with the zero meridian marked and these sights are all easy to reach through the 100+ years old foot tunnel with working lifts - takes only around 8 minutes to walk through the tunnel to the other side (the narrator did mention the foot tunnel and Greenwich on the other side, but would have been perhaps more engaging to hear these specifics and even to have entered the tunnel itself as it is of historical significance and attracts so many tourists annually to this neck of the woods).
The river path along the Thames goes around most of the Isle of Dogs and if the narrator walked just 5 min to the left through the Island Gardens Park with the river to his right he would have got to Glenaffric Avenue and from there would have been able to walk past and show viewers all of the mentioned sights that are part of the local people's everyday life.
These little insights could be really helpful for those that are thinking of moving to a certain part of London or thinking of buying a property or wondering what school their kids could go to if they came to live in the area, so that they get a good feel for the area they are viewing "virtually". Anyway, many thanks for the video in any case, much appreciated - it was enjoyable remotely coming on this walk, especially as I am away from London and watching it from another part of the world! :) Best wishes.
