Here's an idea about a new video: the art of overtaking (safely) I noticed you did some overtakes. Right hand bends are good for overtaking (because you can take the racing line). But need to watch out for junctions on the right, oncoming traffic, someone behind already about to overtake, etc.

Love that model, a masterpiece from renault, I've seen so many videos where you'd say "Man I love this this car" (and you'd pat the steering while saying it).
These roads tho. It's been a beautiful send-off. Anyway, seems like a natural progression to go from a hothatch to [no spoiler], provided you don't need all of the practicality that comes with 5 doors. I'm happy for you, and I hope to see that new car in action soon :)

Would be super interested to see you break down the financials of the M2 and the Megane. E.g. Buying price of both, price you traded the Megane in for, finance agreement on the M2, insurance comparison and so on.
Our miata nc has pretty strong engine braking, you really don't need brakes that much if you plan in advance / everything around you is predictable / you know what to do. Even on hairpins if you're skilled. I'm not, but I'm much better than 2 years ago when I started driving :D I bet you grow A TON with your megane :) Enjoy your new toy :) rwd is interesting :) BTW it's sweet that you pat the car, I do that too :D
Nice m2, heard the thing is wicked fun, so be careful with the switch from fwd to rwd. Hope you enjoy it cause the m2 from 15'-18' is my favorite generation from looks alone.

I've got a 1999 Megane Coach 1.4 16V with around 120k km (~75k mi), been having some issues with it recently, like the engine almost stalling on its own in idle, but it's still alive and kicking most of the time 🤣

Hi mate, the mountain pass bit was the B4391, but there's a good mix in the video. To be honest just pop outside and drive in any direction, it's all great :)
@@MickDrivesCars Nice. Been wanting to do North Wales for a while. I know it's not a region that many are familiar with, but check out the Yorkshire Wolds at some point. You'd love it. My personal favourite is the B1248 between Wetwang (yes, really), and Malton. good combination of straights and twisties, and not a camera for miles around. You may just want to do a chilled run first to make sure the van's not out.
I don't get why anyone would go for the current gen 2 series, the car design equivalent of crocs. If you want that format, just get the previous gen m240i, right? You still get the B58, and you'll want to look back at it after you park. Replace that with the fear of retching because you caught a glimpse of it, no thank you. But then again, I assume you don't care how a car looks that much given you're moving on from a renault.

S58 with a billion horsepower. Manual. RWD. Insane interior. Super quiet inside. Sounds fantastic at full chat. We'll get into it in future videos :)

However, I don't think it's just "the internet" thinking it's out of whack in terms of design. It's any person with eyes and semblance of taste. Didn't mean that as any kind of offense, just that some people just have more of a keen eye for aesthetics than others. Calling this car anything close to a looker is the like wearing socks with sandals, throwing some brown pants on and whatever shirt and saying you've got style. Let's not make it out to be something it's obviously not. It is objectively a 35 year old man trying to dress nicely and failing miserably.

Get off your high horse claiming that any person with eyes would't like this design, that's complete bullshit. I for one like the new 2 series design, more classic, retro and elegant. This was actually a serious consideration! The M2's limits are another step above the Megane's... so I'll be even further from the limit - potentially not as fun. The difference is, with 460+bhp, I'm in control of when I break those limits much easier than in the Megane.
Considering the amount of BMWs you've driven recently, it only made sense that you get one to replace the Megane. Hope the next owner of the Megane happens to find this channel and keeps in touch with you, would be pretty cool. But now you've got manual and rear wheel drive, some would consider that a true petrol head car.
Manual Supra was very, very close to winning actually. But I guess that's also a BMW. 3rd was the Mustang Mach 1 - no matter how you look at it, it can't handle like the euro stuff. I did look into some older stuff S15, Elise, R32 + buying a boring daily - but I don't have a garage and they would just melt in the UK
