Iam a 180 fan; first flew one in 1969, have owned several since; my current one I purchased in 1980, it’s a P Ponk 285hp with lots of mods and I have put 4300 hours on it-it’s been from Alaska to Mexico many times and never let me down
Been watching your stuff since I started my ppl five years ago. Your tailwheel training videos were great. I had a 170 as well. Now trying to figure out a way to get a 180. Keep up the great work.
Love it! Found this video first drinking coffee at 5am this morning. Cool way to start the day… as I’m about to go drag my 182C out of the hangar to fly to an EAA meeting & then lunch fly out. Though I love grass strips, I don’t land off airport so my training wheel up front suits me fine & I love my plane for all those same reasons. Cannot deny the cool factor of that big taildraggin’ 180 though! Funny video, thanks for posting.
Hysterical buddy. Everything you said is true! Love my wagon, but love the cub even more for extra 10%. If I had to get rid of one however, it would be the cub. The ChuckWagon does it all!
Yep! I am trying to figure out how to own 2 airplanes.... 180 with big tires and another 180 on floats! Your an amazing pilot thanks for bringing back your channel! I would love to have some time to fly with you in my airplane so I can "feel" the elevator like you describe.
I completely agree on the plane choice! My 1957 180 is the only plane I’ve flown! It’s got the WingX, Sportsman Cuff, VG’s and RSTOL kits on the wings. She’s a big bird but stalls in the 30’s now like a cub but my cruise speeds sure are a lot better than cubs! My perfect plane for Alaska.
@@WarrenGAviation yeah my dad and I didn’t tell my instructor about it till the next day lol. I had been training in gliders at the time but the day just seemed right to do it and I’m so glad I did. 94D baby!
Another skywagon driver here. Agreed! Another thing to add - they even make good IFR platforms. Camp on a gravel bar one day, shoot an ILS in crummy weather the next. :) No other airplane does so many things so well.

Iam 82 and live in Idaho I had about 6 planes in over the years This man is right my best one was on old 180 , this my list of planes 172, 182 180,. 185. 206 180 the best flying ths back country in Idaho
@@WarrenGAviation my first expieience was when the bush pilot would come land on our small grass airstrip and have to buzz the grazing cows off the airstrip to land and we would run out there to help get them off the airstrip , then I remember the pilot sat on the wing while some one manually pumped the fuel from a 55 gal drum while the pilot used a container with a chamois cloth to filter out water . My family would get in with our luggage and fly out that plane was amazing to me. Back in the states I learned to fly and became an A&P. I found 3 pilots who owned 180s on you tube and they all gave me a chance to full fill my dream and get to fly them. I did exceptionally well . I had practiced in MSFS Read POH watch over and over UA-cam videos . I have watched all your videos and the last was great . Im with ya, the wagon is hard to beat and your ride looks killer. However, get a Voyager or Black Mac and chuck that MT in the wood chipper where it belongs haha!🤙
The Skywagon is the best plane in the world. You are correct. 185 and 180 are so different. 185 you have to slap it before it slaps you. Early 180's are finger tip flying and much easier. You need both.
Ok, I was pretty much on board until all the "haterade" directed toward the 182. And since I'm a 58' 182 driver, I object! (Sustained). Hopefully, in the next 9 months or so, I'll have my own bush beast, circa 182 Skylane... big tires and all ;-) See you on the river bars next year sir.
Cessna 180 is the best airplane in the world? I was qual'd in four different fighters in my USAF career: F-15, F-16, F-5 and MiG-29. Each blows the doors off the 180. They haul more, go way faster; plus, you can break other people's stuff with them.
Bro. I was qual’d (whatever that means), in the diamond star DA-20, DA-40, C-170, J3 on floats, and a C-180 in my US GA (general aviation) career. Go fast, get in and out short, carry a big load. You can choose 2, or you can choose a Cessna 180 😉
I should have made this my title 😁
@@WarrenGAviation You're welcome to use it, but I'm reusing it the day I can buy a 180, LOL
I’ll save it for you then. #skywagonlife

I soloed in a skywagon when I was 16. And I completely agree, it’s the greatest airplane in the world! This video is hilarious I love it
That’s amazing. That’s a lot of airplane to solo in.
I also soloed in a 180 aged 16. I am still flying that same 180 48 years later. They do everything well.

💯 %. Although neither me or my plane are IFR rated… might need to fix that
As the owner of a 59' Cessna 182........ I agree with you...... Although I will say I am happy flying it, even in cross winds.....
I love straight tail 182s. I wouldn’t trade for one, but a lot of close friends have them and they perform really well.

Can you land in Hard sand with the 8.50-6 tires??
Hard to answer and totally depends on the sand. I’ve landed on “sand” roads on 850-6 tires and it was perfectly fine.
@@WarrenGAviation thanks for the advice, I’m planning to land on sand bars with my 180, and I’m aiming to do it when the sand is wet, and hard
Just be careful. I’ve seen plenty of pictures and videos of planes flipping over on beach sand that appeared to be hard, but wasn’t
