As an old 82nd Airborne Division (505 PIR), I do Know that the Russian Winter has an abundance of Sub-Zero Temperatures, Heavy Snows, and strong Arctic Winds. In fact, the infamous "Russian Winter" played a major role in the defeat of both Napoleon, and later, the German Wehrmacht. Today, in RUSSIA, many Russians will refer to their Winter as, GENERAL WINTER. Do you think that the US Army re-activating the old 11th Airborne Division and training them to specialize in Arctic Warfare has something to do with Russia's recent brutal aggression in Ukraine, and it's continual threats of war against America and NATO? I certainly do!
I was surprised to see those full beards toward the beginning of the video. I'm not used to seeing that. It made me wonder if all of these guys were U.S. or some were special operations?
Canadians, you can tell by some of his kit. He was running a Diemaco/Colt Canada C7 carbine, indicative of the smooth plastic handguard and PEQ-2 IR laser taped to the side, which the US hasn't used in 15 years. Also a high-cut helmet, which is NOT allowed in 11th Airborne Div. for combat operations because it is not an issued helmet in the unit.
Except the Canadian military used to be able to drop an entire battle group. Ready Commando wheels up in hours. Airborne battle group droppable anywhere in the north in 72 hours. We have regressed, while our American cousins have progressed. Pathetic that despite a far larger arctic foot print than the United States Canada cannot contribute a single airborne battalion in support of the 11th Airborne division.
Looks all fun and games until you’re freezing your ass off and shitting bricks for for 2 weeks eating MRE’s. Not to mention the hardship of walking trough thick snow with all that gear.
Fond memories from the Snow hawks 172nd Arctic Inf Bde Ft Richardson 1974. What no suicide Slats? It ain't right 😅😅😅 We were on a mission and our mission was Fishin!
No, that soldier was Canadian and they still have PEQ-2s for conventional forces. Also why he had a Diemaco C7 with the plastic handguard instead of the Colt/FNH M4A1.
Everyone wants a beard thinking it's cool with no purpose behind it. I sure hope the regular protetive mask seals with it which it doesn't. So how important is it again?
Already been proven you can seal a gas mask with facial hair weirdo. It’s about time the army stopped sweating the petty dumb shit in the field and just focused on what’s actually important like combat effectiveness. Were going in the right direction, you’re just to clouded by the past to comprehend that.
Thanks For Serving!!🇺🇸

Yeah probably, but 11th Abn is under Pacific command and probably destined for a possible Chinese threat

It's possible that they are part of the IBCT's scout platoon, so they are more loose in regulations when compared to average infantry formations.
It was a Canadian detachment of troops
@@bradypierson1140 I managed to miss that in the video post description last night. Thank you.
Those are Canadians

Lead ground element for CF was 3VP I believe. great stuff.
Edit: its 3VP, not 3RCR, my bad.

3VP participated in this one.
@@joes8530 I am so sorry you are right. 3RCR elements just finished Op Unifier too. Cant believe I mixed them

Wainwright?
Interesting to see peq2's. Do they work better in the cold?
No. They don’t. Not everyone has a 15

All the weapons should be white so do not have to wrap with white cloth.
Uhhhh Sergeant my feet are cold

Standard pro masks seal around beards
Neither is allowing females to keep their hair long. Should be the same for everyone regardless of gender.
SF wannabes gotta have that lame soy boy beard
