Hello Gabriel, I am Violeta, from Lithuania. It's always nice to see people who are coming to visit us. But you know, if you really want to taste our culture, i suggest to come here in summer. We, as baltic people, have our own traditional events, like RASOS. If you will be in Vilnius near summer, go to Verkių parkas, and you will see and feel where our roots came from. I also recommend you to go to some festivals, like Mėnuo Juodaragis (which is one of my favorite) or Yaga. I think our, lithuanian culture, is more about the connection, about community, than only about the places itself. So good luck, if you need a guide, for the next time - write me down, I will help you as much as I can :)))
Welcome to Vilnius, my home town. You can also visit Gediminas castle or the hill of Three Crosses its near Cathedral Basilica. Nice views from there of the Vilnius old town.
If you want to explore Vilnius in winter you should put on right clothes, shoes and accessories, obviously it will be cold there and usually pretty quiet, as a native resident I would recommend warmer months - May to September, when Vilnius really comes to life with it`s music festivals and celebrations...
The best way to thank the youtuber is to watch all the ads fully without skipping and click the links available in those ads(even when you aren't purchasing anything), which I do every time.
Looks like a really lovely city, but also looks really dark, cold, and wet this time of year. I bet it’s super pretty and busy in summertime! I chuckled at the amusingly-placed lampshade and venison balls at the resto! 😆 👍🏼✌🏼
Its one of the worst seasons to visit Lithuania, we have freezing winters (up to -30 celsius/-20fahrenheit) really rainy windy and cold autumns and hot summers (this year I think it was up to 38 Celsius / 100fahrenheit) so a summer or late spring would've been a lot better experience. (Googling Vilnius summer images should give a general idea how it might look at summer)
Or on the Christmas period! ;) Unfortunate for hi, he traveled here 1 week before the epic Christmas market started (those domes were prep work for it) and if i remember correctly, it was the very first snow of this year so maintenance was slow to react i guess (sadly, that snow lasted only for 1 day :( buut we do have it right before Christmas, yay!).
@@auriaska99, seriously when was the last time you experienced -30??? 1950s?? When i was growing up it was at MOST -25 for 1 day, now it's hardly below -15. It lasts exactly for 1 week (and that's in dead winter, we talk late January here). Negąsdinkit žmonių!!!
@@UtamagUta I live near Vilnius and in 2010 was a LOT of snow and there was a few days when termometer showed -35C. Was no joke. But the recent winters was nowhere near comparing 8-9 years ago.
Probably one of the worst times to go to Lithuania, not summer, not Christmas and New Year. Dull November. I lived in Vilnius for a while, and I can say that summer is truly amazing in this city. Also those people selling paintings wouldn't mind being filmed if people were to ask in Lithuanian / Russian / Polish. 99.9% sure they don't speak English very well. The older people there are very suspicious of outsiders especially ones wielding cameras, and speaking, what is to them, a weird language. It was a niceish video but no interaction with locals and not much to see.
Visiting Lithuania should include visiting not only capital, but going to Palanga for a day trip during warm weather. If You go at last weekend of July then go and see port city Klaipeda for another day as it is biggest festival in Lithuania lasting from friday till morning monday called Juros svente. Next day You can head towards Neringa with a short stop at Juodkrante.
I reccomend going in the summer, it's completely different. Everyone out on the streets in old town, and so many cool bars and clubs to hang out at night.
Your pronouncation of Gediminas was perfect well done! First foreigner I heard pronounced so correct at first try. Pity weather was not great otherwise in summer Vilnius is much nicer :)
It is deffinately beautiful all year round, but you have to see the true Lithuania and that is in summer, whole another different spirit all around the Vilnius. And Vilnius is beautiful when theres a lot of snow, sadly the weather in this video is very bad from the perspective of a tourist.
Hi Gabriel, you make great videos and i have been following your channel for a while now. I also recommend visiting the city of Kaunas in Lithuania. I live in Riga, Latvia and if you ever plan to come here I can show you around. You can take a bus from Vilnius to Riga and after that to Tallinn, Estonia. In Riga too you can explore the old town and also see areas with many Art Nouveau buildings from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. There are many other places that I can recommend visiting in this part of the world as well. Thank you.
I live near this hostel for 3 years. i can recommend a lithuanian sort of restaurant near the hostel, up the street- Sopeno street -traditional Lithuanian dishes, much less then 10 Eu., and a great supermarket -Mindaugo street, open 24 hours- Maxima, you can buy there even nice and cheap fresh Sushi... also a must is to go to Uzopia- an artistic area , The University( sinse 1579) with a lot beautiful fresko and mainly is nice to visit and walk around June- September. its not so cold then. If you short with warm clothes-There are plenty second hand shops-like "Humana" .Also in the summer time outside the hostel, you have music and beer outside..
Looks like a beautiful city with a bit of a (Gothic maybe?) flair, which makes it a must in my books. Even if small and slightly off the beaten path. :)
Oh man, you are in Vilnius and I am not. :/ HOW sad is that! You can find me on Facebook. :) I know you like to improvise while exploring places (just like me), but I could ask one of my friends to show you around or just to have a cup of tea together and tell you more about Vilnius and Lithuania in general. You can see everything in different eyes when you are with local. I would love to do that myself but I am in Prague right now. I hope to meet you somewhere sometime one day... Good luck, Tautvydas
Awesome. Unfortunately it's a very quick visit to Lithuania, just three days in Vilnius. Leaving tomorrow. Cold weather and running out of time. I'll have to come back sometime. Enjoy Prague.
While in Lithuania, I highly recommend visiting Kaunas and Klaipeda (on the Baltic coast) also. You can also head over to neighbor country Belarus without a visa, but you have to fly there if going without a visa (the visa free rule does not apply to land borders). Minsk is awesome, I was there last month.
If you are still in Lithuania you should visit Trakai castle, you can get a bus from Vilnius to there for like 2 or 3€ roundtrip and 30min of travel then you have to walk for a while, its a castle in a tiny island

Awesome video Gabriel- you're really clocking up the new countries! Vilnius looks a really great place to visit. The slippery surfaces were almost certainly caused by a heavy overnight frost freezing already wet surfaces- be careful as I once slipped on such a surface and broke an ankle!
Ouch! Yeah something like that, some freezing rain or whatnot. It's been below freezing all day and night so things couldn't have thawed. Anyway something happened, it wasn't like that when I went out today.
Excellent tour by the blogger, just as a normal traveler would visit a place, staying at a low cost dorm or a hostel, shopping in grocery stores for low cost food and being thrifty yet be able to explore the place.

I might visit in the spring or summer!!

Welcome to Vilnius, my home town. You can also visit Gediminas castle or the hill of Three Crosses its near Cathedral Basilica. Nice views from there of the Vilnius old town.
IS Gediminas a common name there? I had a friend in high school with that last name and he was from Lithuania.
Is gediminas now open? I went to Vilnius back in March and it was closed due to construction :(
@@travel9two557 Ye its now open, only main entrance is closed
Interesting, so it's a common name then?
@@spencereng Not really. It was duke Gediminas in our history, so I guess thats the reason why some folks got this name.
Auris LA stabdis I’m sure spring/summer must be so beautiful! I’ll Google it for sure.
Or on the Christmas period! ;)
Unfortunate for hi, he traveled here 1 week before the epic Christmas market started (those domes were prep work for it) and if i remember correctly, it was the very first snow of this year so maintenance was slow to react i guess (sadly, that snow lasted only for 1 day :( buut we do have it right before Christmas, yay!).

I live near Vilnius and in 2010 was a LOT of snow and there was a few days when termometer showed -35C. Was no joke. But the recent winters was nowhere near comparing 8-9 years ago.
So happy you liked Lithuania, my home country! Vilnius is really beautiful European city :)
Gabe, during winters I would follow the sun.....what do you think?
Depends on what I'm in the mood for.
BHS bud here. Your are prolific. You produce way more than your colleagues. High quality and interesting. Proud to be a fellow Yellow Jacket.
I recomend in future visit other Lithuania cities like , Kaunas . In summer Klaipėda , Nida and Palanga is near Baltic sea
Visiting Lithuania should include visiting not only capital, but going
to Palanga for a day trip during warm weather. If You go at last weekend
of July then go and see port city Klaipeda for another day as it is
biggest festival in Lithuania lasting from friday till morning monday
called Juros svente. Next day You can head towards Neringa with a short
stop at Juodkrante.
I reccomend going in the summer, it's completely different. Everyone out on the streets in old town, and so many cool bars and clubs to hang out at night.
Recently discovered your excellent channel my friend. Your doing a great job. The video & audio both
are crisp and clear on my end. Peace
Excellent, great to hear.
Heya! Im Lithuanian and I'm so glad you visited my country :)
Can we talk about your country I want to know more. Regards LeRoy

Best visit in warmer weather the get a coach to Riga afterwards. The museum of illusions in Vilnius is fun and worth a visit.
Your pronouncation of Gediminas was perfect well done! First foreigner I heard pronounced so correct at first try. Pity weather was not great otherwise in summer Vilnius is much nicer :)
The bell tower has a much shorter line than Galata tower.
Thanks for showing us around! Your videos are very interesting!
Agreed. I like your channel too.
Love it Gabriel 😊❤ love all the buildings! Beautiful city! Stay warm and safe! 😊❤
Thank you.
Ok now I hope he goes to Riga! Sounds amazing!
The country side of Lithuania is beautiful too :)
There are the baroque. Lithuanian baroque
Oh man, you are in Vilnius and I am not. :/ HOW sad is that! You are one of the reasons why my fiancee Kamilė and I started traveling the world. :) Your videos inspired us to visit some particular countries such as Nepal. If you need ANYTHING while you are in Lithuania, just let me know. My name is Tautvydas Šlevas.
Good luck,
Tautvydas
Awesome. Unfortunately it's a very quick visit to Lithuania, just three days in Vilnius. Leaving tomorrow. Cold weather and running out of time. I'll have to come back sometime. Enjoy Prague.
honestly i recently i hate the cold but this place blow my mind how cool it looks it makes me to visit so hard so so peacful place.
Thank you for this video! Will visit Lithuania soon!
I am really, really enjoying watching this video about Lithuania. I'm from Lithuania, but I live in US, so watching this makes me feel like I'm back there, walking on the streets of Lithuania haha. Thank you so much. Great job! :) . Very, very, very appreciated!
Great, glad to hear it. :)
I've recently found your channel Gabriel, your travel videos are great.
I have to say, the meals in the restaurant menu at the 16:00 mark in this video looked delicious.
Are you going to start recording your flights? Like you did on WOW air?
I have a playlist with some of my other flight videos, in case you didn't see them all:

Lately I've been giving myself a day off on flying days since it's already kind of intense. But maybe I'll film some of those days in the future, just depends on whether I feel like it.
best travel channel here on UA-cam A big hug 🤗
Awesome video Gabriel- you're really clocking up the new countries! Vilnius looks a really great place to visit. The slippery surfaces were almost certainly caused by a heavy overnight frost freezing already wet surfaces- be careful as I once slipped on such a surface and broke an ankle!
Ouch! Yeah something like that, some freezing rain or whatnot. It's been below freezing all day and night so things couldn't have thawed. Anyway something happened, it wasn't like that when I went out today.
Thank u for braving the cold to go out and show us this amazing places. Worth it every bit of it😀
Excellent tour by the blogger, just as a normal traveler would visit a place, staying at a low cost dorm or a hostel, shopping in grocery stores for low cost food and being thrifty yet be able to explore the place.
I admire your choice of winter destinations considering the rather harsh temperatures it implies ☃️... The view from the belltower was definitely worth the climbing, well done !
Very nice Gabriel , always like your good work
I agree hes one of My Favorites for sure
Yes
Hello everyone, great video, love this content.Looks amazing great footage.
Nice city and country. My realities lives there
It must be cool to live in these small European countries around Central Europe. Stunning architecture , clean streets, local food, pedestrian walkable neighborhoods.
if u could choose: the Baltic countries or Balkan countries to travel for a month?
Depends Baltics are all like a cheap Scandinavia still awesome though and the Balkans are all really different from each other for the most part
beautiful city, great video Gabriel
Gabe, next stop...Riga, Latvia hopefully.
Gabriel, will you be in Latvia too? I live here and would love to show you around Riga.
nice city! greetings from Ukraine :)
Hello. Thanks for sharing your video about my country Lithuania. Vilnius is a beautiful city with unique soul ❤
Great work... Beautiful country.
Funny story, in a few months I'm going here for a mini study trip. I'm getting ready to buy the tickets, so I wanted to check some youtube vids out, and I went thinking to myself, "I wanter if one of my old time favourite youtubers went there...? 🤔 OF COURSE HE DID!😄"
It might be 5 years or so since this vid, but I appreciate that we can always count your travel channel! 👍
Cool.👍Have a good trip.
Hi Gabriel, always great to see your videos. Stay safe.
I’m half Lithuanian and I’m going again for like the 100th time next month I can’t wait Alytus is also a nice place to go and the have amazing restaurants churros there are exquisite 🤤
I was getting cold just watching this video lol
The city looks cosy.I'd love to visit it this winter
Inside the bell tower was very cool looking and of course the views. Be careful walking on those icy cobblestones.
Good Video invest in excellent winter wear and winter and the cold is no problem. Also safe winter boots.
Another informative, interesting video as usual Gab ,Thankyou
You should go visit ŠVENTOJI in july august times when it's a bit warmer it's beautiful and old school would recommend
Are you coming to Riga?
You didn’t finish Georgia trip yet ?
I've left Georgia, this is a compilation of three of my videos from Georgia that I decided to put together in one longer video.
Gabriel Traveler thank you 🙏 for your reply , I enjoyed all traveling around the world , Georgia episode was very nice 👍 , thanks again
Go to Riga the capital of Latvia . Explore narrow streets of old town. Go up to St.Peter's church tower and see old town from above. Before ww2 that was the highest wooden construction in Europe. It burned down during the war. The new tower ir not wooden anymore but still has the same height and shape. Riga is an old (1201.) city belonged to Hansa league en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanseatic_League . Also it is worth to visit cathedral of Riga Dome. www.liveriga.com/en/1158-riga-dome-cathedral .The Riga Dome Cathedral organ belongs to the highest achievements of organ building of the late Romanticism period and is an excellent monument to the history of music. I grew up in Riga.
freezing rain is what makes a slippery layer of ice like that - good work Gab - informative and fun to watch
Yeah that's what I figured. It happened once in Portland when I was living there, except it was much thicker. Shut down the city.
Watching always again and again from Middle East Saudi Arabia KSA OFW PILIPINO
Gabe congrats on another new country visited. My Dad’s family is from there and he never spoke highly of traditional Lithuania foods so I was interested to see your thoughts. Must be tough walking around as a tourist and being that cold. Looking forward to your next videos. Safe travels. 👍🙏
Lithuanian food has been amazing so far actually. I went back to that same restaurant tonight because it was so good and tried some other dishes.
Can anyone tell what song was playing at 16:47 in the restaurant? Cheers and a happy new year!
astero, zippo , джиос - по проводам download shazam ( its an application for recognizing music -u have to active the apk while the music is playing and then u can find its name )
@@cxpcxp6290 thanks! 😊 SoundHound didn't work. Shazam did the trick!
Hi I really like your video i got to go in Vilnius in 2 weeks a lit bit scary about the weather
Gabriel you are An Incredible Traveler, clearly visible it makes you happy. Congratulations on making passion as profession, not all are Blessed the same way... seen your journey from 50k till date... really inspirational... always looking forward to your next Vlog. Hopefully will get a chance to share a beer with you sometime in future... cheers... keep rocking the same way ...
You should have tryed "cepelinai". It is one of the traditional dishes that is highly popular. And it is quite unique.
Thank you very much I feel I’m traveling and exploring with your channel , and learning new things 🍀
anyone knows the song played in the restaurant while gabriel was showing the menu?
Music info is always listed in the description below the video. Click "Show More" and scroll down.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos oh my god gabe replied :D i've been binge watching your shows man. If i ever somehow manage to find you in india, beer is on me brother, but anyways, i was talking about the faint music that the restaurant was playing, probably some Lithuanian folk song, i am huge sucker for folk music.
@@gprasadshenoy4580 Cool, sounds good. I see what you mean, checked that part of the video and I'm not sure what song that is. Pretty groovy tune though.
GPrasad Shenoy I believe it’s a band called Lemon Joy playing in the background. Don’t know the song though.
Neat. Im 25% Lithuanian. My grandpa left and went to America some time in the 20s
my great grandparents are from here. So looking forward to see the homeland
3:27 That building with hook on roof was initially Palace of Railway Workers in soviet times
Hook is to connect train wagons together
To be more precise it was Palace for Culture for Railway Workers. So soviet times railway workers came there to chill out and _culturise_ themselves
Thank you very much for sharing your videos with us yo are a start Gabriel
hoar frost is what you're slipping on there. It is a kind of frozen dew. "greenhouse things" are shelters.
It would be most valuable if you described the food in detail & how it tastes. Check out Mark Wiens, he knows how to show this, you will understand. The food is imperative, walking up & down streets is incidental, even the sights, they are minimally interesting.
Hush
How much for a pint ? , cheers Michael in Scotland.
very good question!!
Around 3 euros.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos cheers , I'm just back from Seoul in Myeongdong and Itaewon abt 7000 Skw .
Hong Kong next and possibly Japan in the same trip .

@@GabrielTravelerVideos that's totally overpriced for Vilnius
Nice restaurant though. Good to know it gets even cheaper.
