    They key to speed is a fancy Ibanez played in the classical position!

      Wow! I watched a few of this guys videos, and I just don’t get it. Does anybody ever do any of the things he talks about? I don’t know anybody that palms the back of the neck awkwardly, or who has to shake their hand out after a bend. I guess these are good for beginners. But I think even beginners figure that out pretty quickly, or hopefully take a few lessons at least?
      Now he just said to play slowly, until one gets it. But the other video he said playing slowly is incorrect. The headline said something like that, then he went on to explain it a little more in the videos.
      I’m just gonna stop watching, they keep popping up now. Maybe I will block it. I guess I’ve just been playing too long, I never had any of these issues, and never knew anyone that had any of the issues that he talks about with “tension.“ 😝

    Great class! I have played the guitar for more than 20 years and much of the time training it wrong and never could pass a certain point of technique. Do you believe I can change my way of playing doing it wight and get rid of some, let's say, dirty technique vices? Thanks

    Hello Mike thank you for all your great videos. Just one point about the thumb orientation that i've seen you emphasize at other videos too. I don't think it's just me but depending on the fret position it seems that it can be up as you mention or pointing the neck. Actually trying to make it point up for some positions it's painful. Some feedback on that? Thanks!

    I'm going to try this. I'm been playing guitar from 30 years now and I've been convinced it's just a God-given talent (well in a way it still is) to play great. I mean there's 8 year olds that can play Jimi Hendrix songs (look it up). But I'll try this to see if it works. Again I've been playing for 30 years. I do know how to play some songs, but I have hardship with strumming, timing, finding strings with certain fingers sometimes; etc. But I've put in 1000s of hours of practice time, and I even played in a band in the late 90s. But I admit I have a lot of issues with the instrument. I wish I was born with the talent a lot of people seem to have been born with.

    Great lesson! The past few days my speed slowed down because I didn’t sleep well. I know it will get better again, but what I don’t understand is how guitar superstars keep playing amazingly even when they have bad guitar days. Some people have better genetics I guess. Some days I play sloppy and some days I play nicely and fast. I have been practicing for hours everyday and see only small progress.

    • @heyjarrod
      @heyjarrod 3 роки тому

      I don’t know man, lack of sleep would not make you play slow or sloppy. And yes, not everyone can be like the guitar players we are influenced by. But you can still get pretty good. But after playing slow one day, and fast another day, I am not sure about that. It’s too subjective-you might just be thinking that. But your technique would not decrease or increase daily like that.
      Some days may be frustrating, especially while learning new techniques or songs. But keep practicing, it all gets better. 🎸😎👍🏻

    Dam man , you have no idea how right you are . Ok , well you have some idea since you made the video. However, one thing I always noticed is that my right hand is fine. I can play very fast palm muting or open string notes . My fretting hand I can play lighting fast when everything is just random. The second I try and play a scale or lick super fast everything falls apart. I always wondered why can I play super fast when the notes are random but not when they are specific? Obviously I do have the speed (like you said) . This video just answered it finally after all these years. Great video 🤘🏻 thank you

    Very informative and interresting video and i have the problem that my fretting hand wrist is bend in my direction but i always hold the guitar like a "gun" or something like that
    My thumb points away from me and the neck lays always inside my hand, i'm already trying to fix my posture because it is hard for me to do hammer ons (Pulls offs are easy for me)
    Do you have some tips how to fix it or something to help me develope a good fretting hand posture?
    ( i can almost play as fast like the Speed picking part of "Spirit in Black" by Slayer and BTW i'm learning guitar since the very first day of this year ;D )
    Greetings from Germany ;)

    HOW exactly to do this stuff? Tell us exactly how to do so.

    • @MiketheNerdRanger
      @MiketheNerdRanger 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, like how hard to press the strings.

    • @codylucas4634
      @codylucas4634 Рік тому

      @@MiketheNerdRanger idk if you ever got an answer to your question but the right amount of tension is just enough to hear the note. You can practice by playing a note on each finger on a single string. For each finger fret the note how you normally would and release the tension on the string a little bit every time you pick a note until it doesn't sound out. Then you will know just how much to press the string

    Thank You Mike. Very straightforward and very informative video. This tip at 3:27 helped me solve something that I had been struggling with for 2 years. I watched dozen of videos on this topic, and NO ONE MENTION IT. For 2 Years I felt uncomfortable while playing due to this, thought guitar was not for me or something. Can't believe how ridiculously simple solution is. Thank you very very much, I really appreciate every single lesson you give out for free. You are always straight to the point, skipping all the BS talk that many people sadly do.
