    I’ve been using urine for years, but in soil and or coco coir. The best fertilizer ever. I get hundreds of cherry tomatoes per plant outdoors. It has everything plants need.

      @@novakchong3980 Yes, use it 20 parts water to 1 part urine indoors. 10 to 1 outdoors. It works better than anything i have ever used! I’ve been doing it for years.

      Great! My first vides on this channel in 2009 were devoted to "peeponics". Works great! Just a bit heavy on sodium or phosphorus sometimes.

    David, awesome video as always! I love how you're harnessing the microbial world to grow your plants. I do have a question for you. You mentioned that you do an anaerobic fermentation of around a couple weeks. Don't you get a buildup of volatile fatty acids and alcohols that can be damaging to the roots unlike a longer term anaerobic digestion where the carbon is converted to Methane?

      Excellent question. I've included my thoughts on this subject in the comment below the video. Let me know if that doesn't answer your question.

    Loved this. Didn't realize pee could be so useful. Now I know. Thats why the spot where my dog pees is always greener than the rest of the yard, huh?

    Genius, make the whole process more efficient, then you can Scale it, and make it commersial. If growing fish is not the primary objective, this is much better. Actully easier to maintain.

    The big question is how to reduce the amount of plastic in these operations?

      Build it once. PVC is the problem. Ever seen a PVC greenhouse after it has been exposed to sun over time? Decomposes into a toxic mess. HDPE does not decompose, contains black carbon, may be reused over and over.

    Is there a way to incorporate vermiculture into this? I've been hearing about vermiponics, but I'm having trouble find a way to regulate the ratio between water and worm waste.

    Using the fertilizer you make from the kitchen scraps, won't harm the fish you have in the tank?
    Any household has many kitchen scraps, and many people uses to make the fertilizers for plants. I am worried if this liquid fertilizer would be a bad thing for the fish in the aquaponic system. I do thank you for sharing this information.

    Hi sir. I hope you can answer my question! If you use a TDS meter to measure the conductivity (mS/cm) or nutrient concentration (ppm), which value could we have? I want to compare it with a hydroponic system.

    • @bioponics
      @bioponics  4 місяці тому +1

      same values as TDS meter. If you are going for EC of 2.0, and start with highly concentrated leachate plus water with low EC, add till target levels reached.
