Very informative. I polished my VV IX tone arm, but I didn't use the thinner. Gonna have to buy some.

    Sudsy ammonia works the best.

You say victors are very fragile with the gold. Would you use the same process with Edison gold plated? Lacquer thinner, never dull, lacquer thinner? Or are the Edison’s gold sturdier and you could use the flitz?

The gold is very delicate. Clean it carefully with ammonia and a soft towel or old t-shirt.

You can try a light coat of automotive wax, but very gentle.
