*Heads up for any larger friends, including those with large busts!* You want the bottom of your sweater to be able to go past your widest parts until it's on all the way! Make sure to measure your WIDEST area for the bottom ribbing, not just your waist! This way, if you have a large bust for example, the bottom wont get caught on your bust and be unable to go any further! Also, because th3 actual circumference of the sweater is determined by the size of the bottom, you want to ensure that the sweater itself is large enough to fit comfortably over your whole torso! And if that's larger than your waist measurements, I say it's better to have a bit of a looser bottom than not have a sweater at all! However, I'm not an expert, I don't make patterns, but I'm guessing that you could also do a similar thing with the bottom ribbing that you do with the sleeves, if you want the bottom to be just a bit tighter than the rest of the sweater. I mean, you could probably do some increases directly after the bottom to make the front/back panels a bit wider! Also, as someone with very large upper arms but significantly smaller wrists and forearms, I'm going to try to see if I can alter the sleeves to start increasing again just before the elbow, to more tailor-fit my arms. I will be sure to update with if it works, and how exactly I did it if it does!
Thanks for this comment! Did you ever end up increasing on the sleeves? I want to make more baggy sleeves, I don’t like tight-fitting ones like she made, but idk how to go about it
Hi This is my first time making a jumper I’m ten years old.I wish all crocheted tutorials would be as easy and simple as this one . Well done and thanks SO MUCH from Bella 👏🎊🎉👍🏻
I’ve been a knitted for years and recently I’ve been looking to try out some crochet projects, but this is the first I’ve seen where I actually want the end product. Most beginner projects are ugly and have no shape. I really love that you teach us how to fit it to our body and not just follow a pattern. Just casted on and subscribed! Would really love more content like this
Just completed my first ever sweater and I’ve been crocheting for 8 years. Thank you for making it such a pleasure to make. My daughters want one each now. Going to follow some of your other patterns too.
@@ameliaford5636the yarn is cookie from järbo! I’ve been looking at buying this yarn off of hobbii’s website for a few weeks now so I knew it instantly haha
Been crocheting consistently for a few months now, FINALLY got the time, yarn, and confidence to make my first sweater. Been looking at patterns and videos for a couple days now to find my favorite. Just started watching this, and I immediately know I'm gonna follow it😊
i just started crocheting less than a month ago and i think i’m ready to make my first sweater using your video. i’m obsessed with your channel. thank you for sharing! ❤
I m amazed that how clear you are.. I mean you just didn't taught us how to follow a pattern but also taught us how to make any sweater fir to any kind of body type👏👏👏 you gained a new subscriber 👍
I just finished crocheting this sweater on holiday and made a matching hairband with the same yarn. I love how it turned out! The pattern was very easy to follow (also for beginners) and it looks great! If anyone wants to crochet the sweater and is looking for tips: make sure not to make the front and back panels too small, even if you want a form fitting sweater, because it might get pretty tight under your arms. Thanks for the pattern!
Have crocheted for over forty years but never attempted clothing. For this I decided to use a different stitch for the body of the sweater,....SC then DC in same chain, then skip a stitch and repeat. It gives it a fuller feel. Excited to complete the sweater and see how it turns out.
I commeted a few days ago but just came back to say thank you. I just finished crocheting it, it was my first sweater and it turned out great. I had a little difficulty with the sizing of the arm. I just added a couple of increases as I got to the upper arm and it worked out perfectly!
Yeah I tried adding the extra stitches at the beginning but it made the forearm too baggy in comparison to the top. So it worked out more evenly for me to just add an increase at the start and end of a row further up the arm! I only added maybe four rows of increases with five rows in between so you couldn’t even tell! I’m so in love with the sweater, might have to make another. Thanks so much for the tutorial, it was so helpful
I made this in 5 days days spending a couple hours on it each day and it’s finally complete. I love it! Thank you for sharing. I want to make another one now!
I just finished a sweater using this video! The video was super easy to understand and lots of fun to make. I wore the sweater to work yesterday and got so many compliments! Thanks for a great tutorial!!
I’ve always wanted to make a crotchet sweater ever since I started crotchet but have always been intimidated to make one or even start one since it’s rather a large project, so I don’t want to waste all this yarn and having to frog the whole thing and make the yarn unusable anymore, I’ve always been afraid of making one but your tutorial made it so I am confident to start to make my very first sweater your video is very informative on each and every step and made it easy to follow without confusion, very clear and to the point instructions I really am glad about that part. I’ve looked at many crotchet sweater tutorials before I found this one and each of the other tutorials they are all confusing and not as easy to make and they just like to make the whole ribbing part and not separate the body parts like your tutorial which makes it harder to follow and the instructions are not very clear and very cloudy it’s kind of almost making my mind fog up like I am afraid to make it but really I’ve always been afraid to make it and don’t want to waste yarn. So I’ve made it a point to actually start a crotchet sweater once I saw this tutorial. So thank you for making this tutorial I love it and I know it will turn out wonderfully I might take some pictures and post it
Thank you for helping me to make my very first crochet jumper. Thank you for the guidance on measuring and tailoring the jumper to my own size and preferences. I am really grateful for this tutorial and the way that you explained and showed each step of how to make a crochet jumper. Thank you.
Ive made two sweaters by this guide this month! They’re so much warmer than a granny stitch sweater and you can make em as big or small as you want. Excellent tutorial! Thank you for posting (also your nails are 🔥, idk how ya do the claws and crochet! 10/10)
one of the best crochet tutorial on youtube, I'm not a beginner but everything is well explained and really clear to see which is super pleasant, some of you need to take notes.
Found this tutorial while looking for an easy pullover to crochet and I am so happy that you show us how to make it to fit our own size (which we then can convert to other sizes should we wish to make one for a friend or family...) All the other tutorials I have watched use a certain pattern which is leaving doubt if the fitting will be good. As a beginner I will put more hours into a project and if there is too much risk the project doesn't fit well, it becomes a bit of lost effort I think. In the end we want to wear the sweater and show it off instead of giving it away or leave it in the closet. 🤭 Especially the very first one ☺ So thank you for the explanation and for providing that bit of courage needed to start 😁
I have been crocheting for years and have crocheted a lot of different things except wearables. This video is so helpful to get started on my first crochet sweater. Thank you so much :)
I truly loved this tutorial, straightforward from start to finish. As a beginner, I've completed the sweater and had so much fun while doing it! It might have taken me a little longer, but the final product is amazing. I've used a similar colourful thread, and not only it was sooo pretty, but it was very forgiving as well 💘thank you so much

I absolutely love this sweater! The only issue I had was with the collar portion, I am planning on making another version of this sweater and I’m hoping on the second one I will have had enough practice on the collar to make it look even better the second time around! Thanks for the wonderful tutorial.
This is a fantastic video. Your instructions are so well explained. The only thing I'm wondering is how much total yarn is roughly used. I know everyone's body size is different as you explained in the video which is another big reason why I love this video and your instructions.. I've been crocheting for around 5 years on and off I'm self-taught through UA-cam lol So I've obviously watched hundreds of videos and this is literally the best instructional video I've come across
This is so kind of you! Thank you for saying that! For the size that I made (snug/casual fit small) I used approx. 900yards of the hobbii yarn! 💖 it was 1.5 cakes!
I just finished my sweater and I’m very happy with it! thank you so much for such a simple and easy to follow video ❤ I’ll continue to use this method for anymore future sweaters 😊
I loved this pattern but the first time I made it the panels ended up being wayyy too small to make a well-fitting sweater (didn't fit over my chest even though I am pretty average sized). I wouldn't recommend following the video exactly for people with any sort of bust but it is easily modifiable and I restarted and ended up with something awesome! I wanted an oversized sweater so I increased the width of the panels by about 50% (so multiply the panel measurement by 1.3 to 1.5 when doing the ribbing depending on how baggy you want it). It's also helpful to hold the ribbing over your bust to check size instead of waist as this will probably be the widest part the sweater will be fitting over. For starting the extended half double part of the sleeves, I worked three stitches into each row of ribbing which made good oversized sleeves and also gave it a cute puff sleeve effect. My usual sweater size is between medium and large and this turned out perfect (and also looks great on my sister who is a typical size medium). I used Caron macchiato and blossom cakes for these sweaters (took me about 3 cakes to make oversized sweater) because the color change is just perfectttt for this pattern (not like a weird self-striping situation). Macchiato is a wool blend and blossom is a cotton blend---I've made this with both and love both, but blossom is definitely easier to work with and snags less.
Thank you Erin for a great video with clear and easy to follow instructions on this wonderful jumper. You explained every stitch and thing you did perfectly and I can't wait to start making it also, great lighting, camera focus and angle and best of all no loud music, just your calming voice guiding us and you showed it on you afterwards....so good! Thank you again. Fip.
I finally finished this sweater! your pattern and video were super easy to follow, it ended up looking cute. however, if you have a larger chest i would definitely recommend using measurements from the width of your chest rather than your waist because mine ended up pretty tight around my chest. also, i ended up adding more stiches for the width of the sleeve as i went (more width towards the shoulders) and i would recommend this too, because even with the extra stitches it is still tight around my upper arm. but for my very first sweater, not bad! i love the yarn you used in the video btw
Such a cute sweater and I love how simple your tutorial is and how precise you are while speaking and giving directions in advance as well as while you are crocheting.
