I was close except the last few A Bs where I got a bit lost. In most of the comparisons the Cine lense had a different vibe/soul which I prefered. Although the last shot of the girl on the bed had a great feel about it.
There are few brands out there whose cine glass is exactly the same glass as their photo glass, just in proper housing for cinema usage. So, the real answer is no, optically cinema lenses are not different from photo lenses, but of course they just may be a different lenses. For example some brands might produce only cine glass, or only photo glass, without equivalent. And for cinema usually preferable qualities are low focus breathing and parfocality for zooms, so differences are more on technical side. In terms of “look” - this is just artistic preferences, and some DPs actually prefer some stills lenses for their “look”.
I actually prefer working with cine lenses now days! I think certain still lenses are fine for certain projects but most of the work I do now I need specific characteristics of different brands of cine lenses. Just wanted to throw out a side by side video on this, hope you enjoyed!
Cine lenses aren't supposed to be sharper. They're often purposefully softer than photo lenses.

So basically this video shows your fine with a photo lens. CONS you are sacrificing comfort for the price of a cine lens
