      It was already hard to listen to Bibo no Aozora without crying. I suspect it will be impossible for quite a while. His music had a strong influence on me and my own creative work. You’re not alone.

    He was such a huge talent, and the world will miss him. He left such a wide scope of important music that I hope future generations will come to appreciate. Apart from composer and musician, and producer, he was a wonderful actor as well.

    Since the news of his cancer prognosis came out in early 2021, I made it a habit to always check news updates about his health. I don't live in Japan so there's really no other way to do it other than googling his name until it became a part of my weekly routine. Hearing about his death shouldn't have been this painful, but I was still shocked when I read the news, like a bucket of cold water was poured all over me. I'm still unable to process it really, along with Takahashi-san's passing, but I know that I'll forever remain grateful for everything they've done - Hosono-san as well, for music as a medium, for society and for the people.

      Same here. I just found out right now. I knew he was fighting cancer last year and just had to keep googling his name as you said to find updates.
      I’m very sad to hear we lost a huge talent. I am very thankful for his life and the work that he shared. What beautiful contributions! 😢

    I play the piano and his music are my number one pick on the piano. The news of his passing made me lose spirit. Took me a few days before finally able to play the piano again.
    Playing "Forbidden Colours" had me crying cause that exact piece was like a piece resembling closure and acceptance of his death

    I am sincerely deeply saddened by the news of his passing, I absolutely loved the work of Ryuichi Sakamoto, a most magnificent composer of the highest calibre. Through music he clearly demonstrated a thorough understanding of the language of the human soul in its nuanced complexities, what a genius he was. I am very grateful for the gift that he shared with the world. The Last Emperor is among my favourite soundtracks of all time an absolute emotional rollercoaster through melodies,
    Mr Sakamoto did not believe in boundaries that separate people and through his talents he helped take us beyond our mental and visual confinements through his emotionally charged compositions, a true master of his craft!
    How very sad we won't hear any more music from him...Its a hard one to swallow.
    I hope that his passing was peaceful x

    "He was releasing new works until very recently, being so active that I didn't really think about his health" - but his two last solo albums was directly connected to his two cancer illnesses… it made it hard for me at least not to think about it, even if he released soundtracks and such in between

    Ryuichi Sakamoto was the Japanese equivalent of Hans Zimmer and John Williams. He helped influence an entire generation of electronic musicians worldwide and had inspired many to pursue film scoring.
    Rest In Peace Ryuichi Sakamoto 🙏🏾

    I am afraid that in Japan, if the TBS lineage of a prominent media takes the initiative to go out of control, there might be a cycle that adversely affects the Sakamoto lineage.

    • @Negostrike
      @Negostrike Рік тому +1

      Can you please elaborate?

    • @ChiakiShirakawa
      @ChiakiShirakawa Рік тому

      @@Negostrike Do you know Sakamoto family murder in Japan?
      I criticized the Japanese TBS channel's news editing and management as being so bad that there was no lesson learned from past incidents.
      And although Japan's medical and public-funded medical care system provides great support for intractable diseases, it does not focus on cancer, so it is often useless in times of need.
      Below is a quote from Wikipedia
      "In October 1989, Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS) taped an interview with Sakamoto regarding his anti-Aum efforts. However, the network secretly showed a video of the interview to Aum members without Sakamoto's knowledge, intentionally breaking its protection of sources. Aum officials then pressured TBS to cancel the planned broadcast of the interview."

    • @Negostrike
      @Negostrike Рік тому +5

      @@ChiakiShirakawa The murdered lawyer Tsutsumi Sakamoto had no relation at all with Ryuichi Sakamoto. The musician's fame and work make such negative incidents insignificant, especially something from more than 30 years ago.

    • @ChiakiShirakawa
      @ChiakiShirakawa Рік тому

      @@Negostrike Have you seen the Japanese movies "Ring" and "Death Note"?
      Do you know about Japan's Crazy Kamikaze Mission in the WWⅡ and the history of mass media that led to defeat?
      I just pointed that out.
      I do not say the direct causality of individual events.
      I think Professor Sakamoto lived long enough.
