A fine line between the stingrays and the Psychedelic garage revival that happened in the 80s . With clubs like The Crypt in Deptford, I loved all the garage Nuggets bands of the 60s But also adored a lot of the psychobilly bands. and i could hear a big connection in both. Also with bands like The Vibes. Purple things ,
glad to see so many fans out there so its not just me! I reckon if these guys had the production their music deserved they would have been mind blowing. but the low key sound is just so raw I love it!
Believe it or not , I was listening to The Stingrays , as far back as '86 , in Dallas ,Texas (Partly the roots of their music.) , and playing them on public radio , too. I know the "Glory year" for this stuff was '83 , but , it took a while to get noticed in the states. And , it did'nt get noticed much. I was just as surprised as you when people started worshipping Billy Childish in the mid - late 90's. A good friend of mine worked with Mark , when the band was going . The Earls of Suave are still around? Good to know. Alec also played in Magic Christian with Cyril Jordan and sometimes Clem Burke...He also turned up in the latter day Chocolate Watchband. An ex - Stingray plays in Morrissey's band? Well , if nothing else , he has good taste in sidemen. If he was also in The Polecats , then , I met him , once......
@@johnmusk7007 I've had this vinyl since 88/89: "Stomping at the klub foot 84" With Guana Batz; Thee Milkshakes; Restless and The Sting Rays - I Can Satisfy You - Escalator - Time Is After You - Blue Girl
Only ever saw them once, not long before they split - T'was a mad nite at the Hammersmith Palais back in 1986 and along with the Guana Batz they supported the Cramps.
Awesome. I want it, where is it coming from? FYI, the members were: - Vocals: Bal (Alex) Croce, now in Earls of Suave - 12 Strings Guitar (normally on Drums): Alec Palao, now a music consultant at Ace Records, see the latest releases of the Nuggets - Guitar: Mark Hosking, now in Earls of Suave and the Flaming Stars - Double Bass: Johnny Bridgewood , now playing with Morrissey
Gli Sting Rays sono una delle psychobilly bands piu originali. Esiste una versione di questo brano dove l'assolo è fatto con un violino, gli da un sapore ancora piu ''country''.
OK ,so not the best band in the world !but they did have some cracking good tunes! this band were a big influence on me,always down to earth, unpretenious and enthusiastic about what they did .Far too clever for the psychobillies, not authentic enough for the dull minded 60's scene kids, they never really fitted into any niche(the 80's was all about fucking niches wasnt it)Their cover versions introduced us to bands we might not of heard of -13th Floor elevators, love, wire, joy division.thanks lads!
We can agree to disagree. FYI The Cramps are most definitely but not completely rockabilly. The Cramps happen to cover many many rockabilly artist. For example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravest_Hits
F**king brilliant, saw these guys in 1985 supporting the Cramps... Amazing
Must have been: "WOWEEE!!!"

there's a lot of shitty rockabilly out there. This is the good stuff.
For F Sake its rock n roll, rockabilly revival, punk whatever the fuck you wanna call it
Angel V It's the perfect mixture of rockabilly and garage ever made on my humild opinion. You´re f...n' right.
its definitely very rockabilly, very punk and very garage. ffsake should listen to the words
you must have a tiny outlook on music if you think that. stand up bass come on????
