Fixing dual carbs to restore power - Honda Rebel 250

- Repairing the dual carburetors on my 1986 Honda Rebel CMX250. Something felt off with the engine when riding so I decided to investigate. Follow along as I diagnose the problem and restore life to one cylinder!
Thankfully, I had some spare carb parts to help me out. If you find yourself in a similar situation, you can find carburetor rebuilt kits on eBay. After putting everything back together, the engine ran smoother and stronger than before. After all, it was now running with BOTH cylinders!
Stay tuned for an upcoming video where I attempt to fix the throttle cable!
If I can fix it, so can you!
Always wondered if the duel carb mods I was seeing for my 87 rebel would give it a little more oomph. It's nice to see a video of somebody adjusting it!
Since mine came in a dual carb setup, I have no clue if it actually provides more power! But with such a light bike, it definitely has some oomph!
Cuántos hp mejorar???
Missing part is Called the needle jet.
I'd recommend anyone doing this to invest in JIS screwdrivers. They look like phillips and work in phillips screws but are a must have if you want the perfect fit and never want to round out a screw. I don't even use phillips anymore, only Japanese Industrial Standard bits. The next owner will thank you if you use the exact tool needed.
I have a set arriving mid-March! Haha - can't wait :D
@@ificanfixitsocanyou vessel has worked great for me. I'm not sure what the top brand is but it was highly rated on Amazon. I was always wondering in the past why Hondas and Japanese bikes always had stripped Phillips heads lol
Yes definitely. I got a set and its been great.
Thanks for disconnecting the spark plug wires to show the dead cylinder and then the show the success.

That's the glory of working on older vehicles and especially older motorcycles.
Though it would be nice to when you fix one thing not another one or three things go wrong, but where would be the fun in that?
Great experience, I had same problem on my Regal Raptor Daytona, I would like to try
me to but i brought a new carb but still same problem 😢
Hi, great video :) Do you know if the dual carbs and the original single carb, has interchangeable internal parts ? It would really help me out.
Hi Andreas! In my case, I believe each of the dual carbs were basically identical to the original single carb. Therefore, I was able to use a spare part from the original for my fix! I hope that's the same case for you!
Hello, how many times have you unscrewed the screws from the fuel mixture
Great fix wonder what's the purpose of small brass insert below the jets for.!!!!!!.
Not sure! But I think that without it, too much fuel was entering the carb and preventing ignition. I was just thrilled that I had a spare part for it!
so i have an 05 rebel single carb version. and i may need a new carb. i cant seem to find one anywhere at all. like they dont even exist at all. but i do see the dual carbs everywhere and they look the same too. i mean except you got 2 of them together. is it possible to take a dual carb and just take one off and use it or are they like fully put together?
That's a great question. I have been searching forums for people who have converted from dual to single, to see if they did what you are asking (just using one half). I think the carbs are different enough that it may not work properly. Many suggest checking ebay, Jack's Rebel Warehouse in Eustis, FL, or 4into1.com. You can probably email the last two and ask? Good luck!
Why is it so difficult to take out and put in ? What may be the real technic ? Thanks . My one also a dual carb.
The Aussie model had a dual carb set up
Maybe later, but not my 86.
I have the same issue except I have no spark on one side and I checked the coils which both are good
I suggest some process of elimination. If you're not getting spark on one side, try swapping the plugs. If that doesn't work, try swapping the wires or coils. (the plug connector in the rubber boot on the wire might have disconnected). I hope you can fix it!
@@ificanfixitsocanyou I’ve tried that already I even looked for shorts in the wire harness and still nothing I’ve tried replacing the cdi just to see what would happen still same thing it’s just the one side just not wanting to power up the coil it seems like
How about the pick up coil its still working
I’m looking to convert my 06 rebel to a dual carb. Any idea where I can find a tutorial or general guide?
Hmm.. not sure, but I recommend checking out hondarebelforum.com - it has been very helpful for me in the past!
Factory carbs or ebay/amazon carbs?
No clue! They were on the bike when I bought it - sorry I couldn't be more helpful
Dual carb more power %
i can’t get the manifolds for the dual carbs to bolt on. any tips?
Hi Logan! Can you be more descriptive? The carbs have rubber manifolds on both the intake and exhaust portion of the carb. And those are secured by hose clamps. Which part are you referring to with bolts?
@@ificanfixitsocanyou i got the manifolds on the studs being too long was the only problem but now i can’t get my air/fuel screws right
@@logancausey9623 I am curious about your solution, as I am planning on throwing the dual carb onto my CM250C (same engine). Did you clip the studs for the intake manifold to fit them on the engine, or was there anything additional required?
@@logancausey9623How did you get the bottom nuts to bolt onto the studs?
dude the pilot screw is so hard to fucking find and adjust on this carberator im just looking for a video pointing to the pilot screw cuz my engine is stuck running lean and i can only access the idle control. the freaking manual says "take it to a dealer" wtf is that literally
La Bujia esta mojada
Those are Chinese knock off carbs
There are chinise carbs and original factory carbs.my one is having the original japanese one.
