Always loved Gram's voice.
2 studio albums in 1965, 1 in 1966, 1 in 1967 and 2 more in 1968!!! And they're all classics!
So Gram parsons & the band layed the blueprint for how to make perfect Americana records, but somehow flyover musicians managed to completely miss the mark for the following 50 years making shit music about trucks and bars and sexy cousins, with the notable exception of a few bands from the no depression scene....
Couldn’t have said it better u are right on with that
Don't forget the Douche Bag Eagles
I like songs about trucks, bars, and - umm, she ain't a first cousin is she? 8-P
I soon as I hit the word 'cousins,' I burst out laughing lol 'And marry our cousins!!'
It comes down to talent and integrity versus making big bucks.
What a bold departure from the mainstream pop rock the band had been making. In my opinion this should have won Country album of the year.
Unfortunately it was made by some dirty hippie rock and roller types years before their music was incorporated into main stream Nashville.
what a great jukebox song!
Written by Luke McDaniel; Gram Parsons (lead vocal), Earl P. Ball (piano), JayDee Maness (pedal steel guitar).
Wasn't Hillman and gene Clark contributing to Sweathearts!
@@toddstunes5167 Hillman yes; Gene Clark gone by then.
Wow! So you read the liner notes, too!
Jay Dee one of the best
This album was years and years ahead of anyone/anything else. Great doesn't describe this 👌 👏
Really dig this. Gram’s voice-from the heart
Groundbreaking album. They just invented Country Rock Music.
This is hard country. They called it country rock for marketing purposes only. If you want hard country, this is hard country as hard country can be.
@@benjaminpriess2612 I agree but this is also the beginning of the Cosmic Cowboy sound, which was still hard country but soared.
@@простадівчина theyre calling it hard country now? why not just call the new country from all those stupid jackasses that are props "bad rock"?
A classic album from a great band, no matter how many different members they had.✌
This is country
Gram had a lovely voice.
Lovely but sad. Can't imagine him singing a happy song.
My pedal steel player (Texcino) brought me here! Doesn’t get much better! Subscribed!
I think the byrds done it right on this one best sounding
A+
We need to bring back the nostalgic feel good music! Love it
How did they ever get their label to put this out. The Record Companies pretty much dictated what they would accept to release from their bands.....but it's Country music...
They knew their name alone would generate healthy sales - & they were right.
Record companies were a lot more willing to put out different stuff. Far more than today. Record companies were still run by those cigar chomping old guys, not the corporate yuppies of the 80s on.
I like the piano.
And the steel guitar is not too bad either.
Come on you gotta dance to this one!
🎼❤️❤️ 🎼❤️❤️
Se parece un poco a la voz de Ringo Starr. Me gusto este disco de The Byrds.
To try and forgive you I turn to the wine....
that's the line I took out of it too... gorgeous
@@простадівчина You're both wrong, it's "to try & forget you," not "forgive," which wouldn't make sense!
@@appledoreman oops I think you're right. Such a beautiful song.
@@appledoreman Ooops, you're right. And now I got an opportunity to listen to it again!
This is a George Jones original song. He was revered by Gram Parsons. Thank to Gram for spreading the word during that era.
a beautiful and intentional.parody of country music. Genius.
i'm not sure Gram meant to parody anything. He was pretty sincere in his love for country music. Roger on the other hand...
I've listened to this album and its a GP album not Thr Bryds album. Hence the band split after that . Country does that sort of thang.
Gram!
Cover or not this is the best byrds song I have ever heard.
I tend to happen to agree with you.
