I feel that I wouldn’t want to waste the cut outs from the pineapple, but use them to make an appliqué of the pineapple on a backing complimentary to the other quilt. So you have a pair of complementary themed quilts. Just a thought... Thanks for the instruction Rob, I love your videos.
Rob: Thanks for another terrific tutorial! I had purchased a kit from my local quilt shop to do this technique, but was hesitating to try. With your great instruction, I can’t wait to get started!!!! Thanks so much!
This is a great idea! Similar to the Christmas scene quilt that you did. This is a nice project to use if you want to put extra loft into the quilt. I like this one!!
Maybe someone has already said this in comments, but it would be awesome to save all of those cutouts from the pineapple, and put them down on another design to create a second quilt. The leftover paper from the fusible would be a great template for the layout of the cutouts. This pineapple design is a fantastic idea, well executed! Also, I have a suggestion or request for a future episode. I have heard you say that you used to repair sewing machines. A video or two on troubleshooting and basic repair would be fantastic!!
Great project; how about a rooster next? Would love to work on something like that with a farm scene in the background. I love watching your tutorials! Love to see a man sewing!!
Hi Rob, just loved this idea....pineapple doesn’t feature much here on the west coast of Scotland....however, an outline of our beautiful Arran ( island in the Clyde seen from our house) would work really well! Oh and Batiks......what a fabulous palette! Thank you for all your hard work producing Man Sewing , xx
Mahalo for the free pattern and the great instructions. I love all things Hawaiian and will be making this for sure. I’m thinking yellow batik for the fruit part and green batik for the leaves. Soooo excited.
Enjoyed seeing the video. It's not something I would ever make, but just watching the process was interesting. Nothing new learned is ever wasted, right? It looks amazing..but oh, that blue one..wow!
I wish I had thought of this or had seen this last year. I saw a scarf when I was out of the country that was so thin. I think this would have worked fabulously for a wall hanging
Hey Rob, do you have a video out there about machine quilting a bed sized quilt? How do you roll or fold a big ol' quilt up so that you don't get all tangled up? And why do you use pins to baste instead of a spray baste product? Like Tom's hot sauce, I put that stuff on everything, it'll even hold down your appliqué until you get it ironed!
I love your quilt tutorials. Can I please ask about the one hanging behind you, the ones with the black stripes, do you have a tutorial or pattern for that one. I just love the colours.
Hi Rob, love your tutorials I remember seeing a flower panel that you cut up and put back together with strips of fabric I’ve been looking to find it any directions would be appreciated. Thank you
Love the quilt Andy have a question. I really like the quilt in the background with greens and blues on black. I have looked for a tutorial wondering if it was one you taught but haven’t found it. Do you have a tut for it? It doesn’t look to be too complicated but I just love the colors and would like to make one similar. Thanks I’m advance. Keep up the great quilting projects!
Rob, I love this idea, especially the one with a solid piece of fabric on the back! I’d love to see more examples of different designs that could be used. My mind isn’t as creative as yours and I need a little more help to get my brain cooking with my own idea. LOL! One thing I wish I had seen more of is how you did the design on the background. Did you cut the pieces out of your freezer paper, iron them to the batik and cut each shape? Maybe I missed a previous video.
Hi Mary! So glad to hear you like this project! I drew the design first then treated it just like any other fusible applique pattern, I reversed it for tracing onto the heat n bond featherlight, then added the heat n bond with the traced shapes to the fabric for cutting out each piece. Hope you have fun sewing!
Aloha Rob, I just came across your profile and this project. To say that I'm late to the party is an understatement. Is there a way to get the pineapple design? The link no longer works.
What a cool design. My state in Australia, which is Queensland, the pineapple is virtually an icon of the state, as they grow particularly well here. We even have a place which is in Nambour that features the big pineapple. So as for a reverse appliqué of a pineapple goes, I can relate all the way from the land down under. Can you please tell me by how much you enlarged the drawing. Thanks.
Hello there! Thank you for tuning in! I enlarged the printout by about 315% to make the wall hanging shown in the tutorial! Hope you have fun creating this project!
Great tutorial again, Rob. Unfortunately, I have the text of last week’s tutorial coming up. I didn’t realise how much I refer to the text while watching and listening. Thanks.
BEAUTIFUL!!! Your design sensibility, creativity, and workmanship are over-the-moon exhilarating, Just aMAZing. Thank you.
Great idea. I was thinking what a great way to use a panel too. Adds so much character to the background design. Thanks.

That is a great idea! Would make for a very cool reversible quilt if you used the batiks as the backing also. Matching quilts would be awesome too.

I love this. I want to do the island scene in the background but instead of a pineapple I want to make a sea turtle.
Rob…………love this. It will take me a few more watches to get the details but I certainly am going to try this!!
Great info! I also think a panel would be awesome! You have done it again in providing detailed information on getting a great finished product.🤠
For something that looked very complicated in the beginning, this sure turned out to be quite easy to do. Already started mine!

Aloha Rob, I just came across your profile and this project. To say that I'm late to the party is an understatement. Is there a way to get the pineapple design? The link no longer works.
It’s beautiful, but I couldn’t find the template! Is it still available?
I love your tutorial, I’m a pineapple fan from Hawaii...can you share your background scene? Would love to make exact art panel like yours.

Rob, how would a double needle work on topstitching the grid?
Great tutorial again, Rob. Unfortunately, I have the text of last week’s tutorial coming up. I didn’t realise how much I refer to the text while watching and listening. Thanks.
