It’s so cool to hear Do me a favor in the Humbug era style. I have always felt that the song aligns more with the songs off that record as opposed to FWN.
6:20 that little part sounds exactly like something from Suck It And See!!!!!! You can definitely tell now that they were heading in that direction. I never noticed that when I watched their live stuff, I even saw them in Philly and didn't take that into account of how their new stuff may sound. Just shrugged it off and thought "Oh, that's cool and different."
there's probably old comments of mine here but,,, this remains one of my fav performances of them, this whole gig,,, pretty visitors,,, absolutely mind blowing!! ❤️
@saraj12 Cont: Also, if you listen to how beautifully Humbug has been recorded as well as the depth of the material, its not hard to pick up on how moody and sexy the album is, especially compared to their previous releases, which are powerful and land mark efforts on their own. Last but not least, is it really so outlandish to suggest that his song writing has done nothing but improve? His vocal ability has also changed subtly too, he tends to croon a little more now, which started with the ...
@goshou actually there was a while they did play mardy bum during this tour. they played it replacing "only you know" during fluorescent adolescent. look it up, they played it a few shows starting from the sheffield show :D but then this year they replaced it again :( they keep changing that part so i wonder what they will play during that part when i see them when they play in AZ
Well it's been two years, and I think they've let up a bit. They've said they made peace with their first album, after a while. I was as shocked as any other when I heard them play Mardy Bum and A Certain Romance after so long! Glad they are though :)
@saraj12 Lastly, if you took the time to read the comment i was originally addressing, you'd read this; "...first two albums were great all the way through but humbug has some shitty ones like potion approaching or fire and the Thud." I was addressing that statement. I think theyre both great songs. Mentioning how his writing had developed was not directly regarding that song and only that song. Read it to your self out loud. No where does it say "Fire and the thud shows Alex Turners ability...
@saraj12 Well, regarding 'what im on about' it depends on weather you actually read my comment properly or not. Firstly I addressed two great songs, not just Fire and the Thud. Are you referring to the acoustic demo? The Humbug session and the Acoustic recording, although the same song are almost worlds apart sonically speaking (theres a whole band behind him now!) and im saying that as a musician & someone with recording experience.
@saraj12 ...improved since their first two albums. But i guess you went to school a long time ago and dont really need to read much, you just get your mum to do it for you?
@thestrokes241 sorry but i have to disagree with you. Potion Approaching and Fire and the Thud are both beautiful and kick ass! Alex's songwriting has matured heaps since their first album, which is saying a lot considering their first 2 albums were awesome and landmark in their own right. All bands need to change, if they dont, they get bagged for putting out the same old shit. Theyre still killer to me anyway. Although they now do lack energy, thank fuck they didnt go the way of Kings of Leon
@nikoloua92 i know exactly what ur talking about. they used to play with so much energy and thats why they were so great. now theyve kinda changed and there just another mediocre band with some good songs and some bad ones. theyre first two albums were great all the way through but humbug has some shitty ones like potion approaching or fire and the Thud. as for their look, it goes with their music. completely different and unrecognizable. btw jamie and nick kinda look like homeless ppl.

nah man instead I think Do me a favour and 505 are the ones that defines the favorite worst nightmare (fluorescent adolescent too)
@@majorasmask_8288 no that’s more Brianstorm and Teddy Picker
@@garmen-I think that there’s 2 distinct but we’ll fitting sides of fwn.
i love these old gig videos, its really weird to think of the passage of time and how long ago this was

@hamajuggle well, when you look at Hoobastank - The Reason live at Summer sonic 09, then you know that japanese know how to party..
Nice!
tripple one likes and no dislikes, hell yea
Even though i love alex's long hair how can he see what he is playing???
james primrose he knows it by heart
He just plays. Dont need to watch it.
When you play songs for so many times and for so long you can play it most without mistakes even when it's not so clear.

@saraj12 Cont: shadow puppets. Then josh Homme got in his ear, and he improved even more. Does that clarify what im on about?
Hurry up with that guitar change Alex :P.
omg alex was so high on this
@saraj12 ...improved since their first two albums. But i guess you went to school a long time ago and dont really need to read much, you just get your mum to do it for you?

Why’d he play fluorescent adolescent in D?
Fits humbug style well
