The line "you do what you think is best doc, its all any of us can. Even when it hurts like hell" might be my favorite line from this game. It just sums up spiderman/peter so well.
“Not tired. Just hurt!” My skin crawled with sorrow when he said that. The rage, the betrayal, the absolute heart break to see the man he admired and saw as another father disintegrate into another monster. And when Ock called for Peter, who continued to walk away, he truly knew that he’d lost everything...and everyone.
J/Ash/Bran I don’t know I think it will probably be. I think The Venom symbiote is of alien origin and Norman experimenting it on Harry made his condition worse. I think he will fight Venom to save Harry from the symbiote. Can’t wait.
MaserOfficial not in the ultimate universe it was an experimental thing created by peters father and Eddie Brock’s father. Designed to cure cancer so I thank That’s the route they going with in the games.
I agree. The story of Otto Gunther Octavius is sad. He spent his whole life being ridiculed and being told that that he was a failure. And even though he was crazy after he got his tentacles, the man was a genius.
Another detail I thought of is you can hear Otto's voice break when he says, "This means too much to me!" He loses the evil facade for a second. Another thing I noticed is the second phase of the fight were they're on the side of the tower is started by Peter saying "I guess you'll have to save yourself." Through the rest of the phase he rants how Otto threw everything he had away, and Otto doesn't say anything.
Love how when Peter gets mad, he just straight up kicks off one of Ock's tentacles like it's nothing. Shows how he could've ended this fight at any moment If he really wanted to.
In the superior spider-man octavius gets Spider-man's body as well as his powers. One of the first thing he does is knock off the Scorpion's jaw and I don't mean break his jaw. I mean knock it off. Octavius realizes that the only reason he is still alive is because Peter is just that nice of a guy.
@@stephenmarco2927 The Superior Spiderman comics were Brutal. Otto sliced up screwball and some other villian (they were D grade villians) because they laughed at him. He almost killed vulture by throwing him into a Light signal (like the batsignal). Keep in mind vulture is like 80 and was bleeding profusely. He ripped off a villians eyes (forgot who),etc.
Peter could end the large majority of his rogue’s gallery with no effort if he went all out. He pulls his punches like Superman and Batman does due to his sense of responsibility The movies and games rarely ever show him at full power
I really love the final part because it always ends with him saying one thing too far. Like when he said that people like them have a responsibility to help others even if they don't appreciate it, that is the most description you can have for Spider-man's philosophy. But then he twists it by saying it's best for those beneath them even if they don't understand which even though it's saying the same thing with different words, the meaning behind it all changes substantially. It encapsulates the fact that Otto Octavius is a dark version of Peter Parker.
You know who else is a darker version of Peter Parker? Eddie Brock from the Daily Bugle he's a photographer and he's dating the police commissioner's daughter
It's a clash of philosophy. I don't think Peter believes he's above anyone. Otto almost convinced him later in the talk too, but then ruined it by threatening Peter's identity.
Yeah. That's the part that got me. He knew the whole time, but he kept going on doing everything he did anyway, between sending the other villains to torture him and almost getting him killed several times. If he had just been doing everything because he knew that Spiderman would interfere, then it would make sense. But he knew that it was Peter, and that makes every attack thrown Peter's way that much more personal. And there was a part before this fight where MJ said that Spiderman would need to get help from Peter to stop Otto, since he helped to design the arms. It made me think they'd have Peter unmask himself and try to get Otto to have a change of heart that way, but as soon as he revealed that he knew about Peter being Spiderman, it crushed that idea and made it clear that it never would've worked. That one line was heartbreaking.
Abo Abomi Dude I thought the same thing at first! You think there might still be a way to save doc and seeing peter's face would be the only way but then the reveal that he knew the whole time was even better because you didn't expect it. You know the whole game he's going to become doc oc but you and peter still think you can reach him right up until this moment during his boss fight when he says he knew peter was spiderman.
I just felt so sad for Doc in the end. He just sounded so sad when Peter walked away. I really felt for him and understood why he did what he did. And that’s what makes this the best Spider-Man story ever. You connect with the Villain just as much as you do the hero. IMO at least!
I will agree, this is a fantastic Spider-Man story. If we're talking about how you connect with the characters by the end of it, then it's easily in the top 10 of all time (I shed a few tears for Otto at the end). However saying it's the best is a bit of a stretch. There are a LOT of Spider-Man stories after-all.
omegaman15 I guess when I said the best spider man story, I more meant out of the movies and maybe other video games hahaha. Totally agree with you though!
Jonas Commero oh! By that standard totally! This is the best Spider-Man game story I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing play out. And I have no doubt that if it were turned into a movie, WITHOUT MUCH ALTERATION, it would probably be the best Spider-Man movie ever (constant comparisons to Spider-Man 2 not withstanding).

Hearing Otto scream for Peter at the end messed me up. Also, I love how Otto almost had Peter convinced at several points in their last talk. He was only just deranged enough for Peter to see through it.

In the comics he was blasted by radiation during the experiment when the metal arms fucked up. He gained some from the resistance due too the radiation the chip connecting to the metal arms dulls some pain for him. This version however didn't get blasted by radiation.
Nasty Mouth ok I was confused because he got his face pounded by Spider-Man and he kept brushing it off. I didn’t get it because I thought it was only his arms making him stronger.
@@harrisonm2503 it's mostly plot, Spider-Man should one-shot most of the dudes. When Doc stole Peters body a few years ago his first encounter was Scorpion. He punched his jaw off basically and Doc realized just how much Peter has been holding back.
Maybe the neuro innerface in his neck have something to do with his nerve centers. Maybe but hey it's fiction. If he went down like a real life old man this fight would be over in a second.
15:14 That is extremely low, using his secret identity as leverage to coerce Peter into helping him. Even after deliberately endangering his aunts life for the sake of breaking down his greatest enemy. He really has fallen from grace. In trying to bring down Norman, he wound up just like him
i loved this game so much, it really shows the struggles of being spider-man and peter at the same time, the game play is smooth, web slinging is fun and fighting is was one of my favorite things to do unlike others
Anyone else think that Otto could surprisingly take a hit pretty well for being just a sick old man? He should basically be a glass cannon in this. He's not even wearing armor, and people thought the rhino in the amazing spider man had a fatal flaw in his armor.
Pelcogo he mentions if you inspect it before he wears it that it’s some type of welding suit or something, I imagine that gives him some form of protection from punches
What's messed up is dr.octo says he saw Peter as a son, but when you listen to the recordings he leaves behind in the lab he says some messed up things about Peter. Clearly showing how he couldn't form human connections anymore.
Yuri Lowenthal’s performance in this game is unmatched. I still can’t okay through this portion without crying. The pain in the delivery, the constant switching from rage, the pain, to heartbreak. Every word from Peter is dripping with the agony of watching someone he admired and adored become a monster, a thing that he knew only he could take down.
I love Joker but his motivation and goofing around has gotten old because he's been used so much in media. I like this version of Doc's body worsening due to disease.
Legit, the craziest revelation to me is when Peter finds out Doc knew his identity. It shows how much Doc went insane. Doc knew he was attacking and hurting Peter's family and friends long before this fight and did everything he did anyways. The amount of betrayal Peter probably felt was massive.
This is one of the finest storylines in modern gaming. Easily on par with the Arkham Series. The voice acting in this game is simply PHENOMENAL. "You knew. You KNEW!" Absolute chills.
Anyone notice how this entire fight is a huge reference to the first Amazing Spider-Man film? Peter battles a supervillain on top of Oscorp Tower with there being the involvement of an antiserum and a city-wide epidemic (although in the movie he managed to prevent it).
Their hole story is Peter/ Connors even to the point where the Doc uses the invention too early on himself because being impatient. But here every Moment of the Story felt great and better ;)
His damaged mask is also a reference to the damaged masked in the Tobey movies and the eyes for the anti ock suit are almost the same shapes as the ones on Tobey’s suit.
Doc Ock is my favorite Marvel villain. As a kid i always found him interesting. I never kept up with the cartoon that much tho. I loved him in Spiderman 2 and loved him even more in this game. Loved how he was the main villain in this as well! Loved his story in this game much better.
I am okay with my Xbox. I am okay with my Xbox. I am okay with my Xbox. I am okay with my Xbox. I am okay with my Xbox. I am okay with my Xbox. I am okay with my Xbox. *DAMMIT I NEED A PS4* Edit: Holy shit 335 likes??? This is the most likes I’ve ever gotten!
I like how during the fight on the side of the building the dialogue box switches between referring to him as Peter and Spider-Man depending on what is being said. Talking about what’s good for the city or just trying to get Otto to back down peacefully=Spider-Man Talking about the personal relationship they shared and how Otto’s actions are affecting the people he cares about=Peter
On my Play through I expected Octavius to stop fighting Peter when he found out who he really was. I got so Angry when It turned out, that he knew all along.
I didn't think that they could surpass Otto in Spider-man 2 - boy they proved me wrong. Probably one of the most tragic villains I have seen in a long time. The voice acting and design was superb.
This has become my favorite Doc Ock story line. It’s a perfect allegory for the good protege trying desperately to help their mentor who is struggling with addiction.
Yuri Lowenthal's performance in this game was one of the all-time greats not just for spider-man but for any character in video game history. His performance expresses all the genuine emotions peter parker goes through over the course of the game and the anguish you can hear as peter has to take down his mentor and father figure is truly heartbreaking
"The truth? Okay. The truth is, you were only ever worth a damn when you worked for me! The truth is, you could never accept that I'm better than you! "
The most painful part is that we knew it was coming. But the way Peter and Doc's fatherly or best bro relationship before Dr Octopus was heartwarming, only to end it in such a gruesome and tragic way. We never wanted it to happen. Makes for a sad yet amazing ending
This game actually managed to do Doc Ock far better than Raimi. I mean, Molina was awesome, but the real Ock is this. Not a good and successful man turned mad by tragedy, but a sad and little nerd all grown up. Octavius is a Peter Parker who never got his powers, who never managed to find confidence in himself and to grow past the shy and introvert kid tormented by bullies. To the point where he ended up becoming a bully himself.
The conversation though out the fight is just heartbreaking. They had a strong bond and that bond was broken when Otto used Peter for his own evil mind. Such an amazing touch on this game as Otto as the final boss of the game
"You *knew*" and "Not more than it means to me!" Made for the biggest turning point we could've asked for. Peter wanted to help cure the people of Manhattan, keep his identity hidden to protect the ones he loves, and save otto from this dark path. But this transition was an amazing product of emotion in Peter as he jumps at otto and destroys one of his mechanical arms in one kick. Spiderman pulls back on his punches in a fight because he is afraid that he will kill someone, but there was no holding back here which is what made that such an astounding conclusion.
13:45 That is where he lost peter. Just when you think that he’s returning to his normal self without the influence of the neural interface, he proves that he is still just as twisted. He’s basically saying the lives of those around him, including that of his protégés aunt, means nothing, and that makes his lofty goals flawed and irrational and completely self-serving.
**Spoiler Alert** During the game, about an hour before the endgame, Peter ask MJ when you should give up on a friend. MJ says that her idealistic side wants to say to never give up on your friends, no matter what they do or what they've done (somewhat also speaking for their relationship). But with Otto and the "things he's done", he leaves it up to Peter. She does tell him to look at Doc Ock and see if the man he knew was still in there, or if he was even there at all. That is why that last threat sealed it for Peter that the man he knew was dead and was never coming back. Already distraught with Aunt May's condition (and you can hear his despair during the beginning of the fight), he ultimately lets him get arrested and without caring, tells him "You do what you think is right.", a line that is said earlier in the game as well. You really need to play the game to get the full experience. Best game I've played in awhile and definitely the best Spider Man game ever.
For me this has to be the definitive Spider-Man vs Doc Ock fight . Eve more than the SM 2 movie. While Octavious was also a mentor and influenced somewhat by his experiments , here you can tell it’s more on his own fears and rage motivating his actions and his fight with Peter feels more personal
“If you want to change the world, you have to be the kind of man to make the hardest decisions” Love this quote, since Peter does take the advice in a way and chooses to replicate the anti-serum instead of saving Aunt May
13:51 *YOU WERE EVERYTHING I WANTED TO BE!* Yuri goddam Lowenthal everyone, his voice acting in this game and especially in that scene was one of his greatest moments
The line "you do what you think is best doc, its all any of us can. Even when it hurts like hell" might be my favorite line from this game. It just sums up spiderman/peter so well.

reindeer games
No because you can’t wear a suit if your choosing during this fight
PSIDreams I don’t think he means just this fight
Wore the homecoming suit during the vulture fight
@@LEMMlWlNKS This is the only fight where the suit is mandatory.
The suit itself is called anti ock suit
WhiteWeb ok? why are you telling me this, I was just saying that I used the homecoming suit during the vulture and electro fight
Props to the voice actors of this game- especially the dude who voiced Parker! Great job!!
RK AK ASMR I can safely say Yuri plays a hell of a great Spider-man.
yeah but starting from the you knew part he sounded like sasuke from naruto
Ducky Yuck I definitely didn’t know- XD ! I watched Naruto with subs! - Oof!
RK AK i know right! Its exactly how i imagined it! Its like josh keaton, but older.
“You knew? YOU KNEW?!?” It gets me every time.
Doc Ock can take a hell of a beating.
coolsomeXD pretty good for a deranged middle aged man
In the comics he was blasted by radiation during the experiment when the metal arms fucked up.
In trying to bring down Norman, he wound up just like him
that's the moment where peter gives up on helping him.
that is pure manipulation.
i loved this game so much, it really shows the struggles of being spider-man and peter at the same time, the game play is smooth, web slinging is fun and fighting is was one of my favorite things to do unlike others
I have a father.
His name was Ben Parker.
NathanCool Godspeed Spider-Man
Ahem. Tony Stark*
I'm just kidding😂
Es_ist_Lars I honestly feel like he viewed Otto as another father before everything happened :,(
"Oh."
Peter...don't tell Harry
Anyone else think that Otto could surprisingly take a hit pretty well for being just a sick old man? He should basically be a glass cannon in this. He's not even wearing armor, and people thought the rhino in the amazing spider man had a fatal flaw in his armor.
The game explains this. The neural control gave his entire body more strength and durability.
Mr. Negative charges his goons with his powers and I kick their asses just fine.
Justin Baggett I also like to imagine the suit gives him some protection
Looks like a run of the mill jump suit to me.
Pelcogo he mentions if you inspect it before he wears it that it’s some type of welding suit or something, I imagine that gives him some form of protection from punches
9:35 the chills
This whole fight was chilling!
omegaman15 my response 12:22
Conner Wilcons I see what you did there
How does he take the punches? He's not superhuman it's just the arms.
Harry Willmore video game logic man
Finally the dock ock boss battle ive waited 30 years for!
Proud you finally have that man.
So much better than the fights in the Sm2 Game. And no damn Energy shield here ;)
What's messed up is dr.octo says he saw Peter as a son, but when you listen to the recordings he leaves behind in the lab he says some messed up things about Peter. Clearly showing how he couldn't form human connections anymore.
It because his brain is damaged by the chip that controls the arms
@@dcspidey1218 That seems to have been recorded before that.
Yuri did a great job as peter Parker, you could really hear the anger and hurt in his voice.
*_”YOU WERE EVERYTHING I WANTED TO BE!!!_* And you just.... threw it away!”
“I’ll be trapped in this useless body” superior spider man maybe
You have no idea how terrified I'm gonna be during future games, I don't want parker to lose body to otto
Oh god please not again.
Calling it now, the sequel is going to end with Miles vs. Superior Spider-Man
Ends of the Earth.
I hope that doesn't happen please no
Yuri Lowenthal’s performance in this game is unmatched. I still can’t okay through this portion without crying. The pain in the delivery, the constant switching from rage, the pain, to heartbreak. Every word from Peter is dripping with the agony of watching someone he admired and adored become a monster, a thing that he knew only he could take down.
Reminds of when octavius hung Harry upside down in Spiderman 2
Norman*
Robbie Uchiha Norman Osborn died in the first movie. Otto dangled Harry upside down for the tritium
@@seanchen7815 oh I wasn't paying attention I thought he was talking about the game
As soon as Peter says "You knew!" chills run down your spine for the remainder of the storyline
12:50 Gosh the emotion in this scene... I doubt the new Peter Parker design will be able to convey the same feels.😢
Octavius is the antithesis of everything Peter is. This has got to be the best battle and best video game I’ve ever seen in my life
Best. Superhero. Video Game. Villain. Ever.
Reboundprodigy The Joker was used like a hooker in the Arkham games. Couldn’t leave his ass behind, even after his death!
Guess you never played Origins or read the Killing Joke
Killing Joke isn't a video game lmao
I love Joker but his motivation and goofing around has gotten old because he's been used so much in media. I like this version of Doc's body worsening due to disease.
Mark Hamil's Joker is annoying.
Legit, the craziest revelation to me is when Peter finds out Doc knew his identity. It shows how much Doc went insane. Doc knew he was attacking and hurting Peter's family and friends long before this fight and did everything he did anyways. The amount of betrayal Peter probably felt was massive.
Didn't he already know in the beginning?
7:45 Nice little nod to Spidey and Lizard dialogue in The Amazing Spider-Man.
that ending almost made me cry bruh
I cried 😬😫
Norman Osborn = Steve Jobs
Otto Octavius = Steve Wozniac
Because Wozniak has a fat chin like Otto and Steve Jobs has a skinny one like Norman?
Peter’s reaction to when Otto reveals that he KNEW that he was Spider-Man really sells it, especially the betrayal in Peter’s voice
I like how they handicap Doc Ock by having his other arms stabilize him to the side of the building so he only has one arm left for offense
That’s what Pissed Off Spider-Man will do to you.
This is one of the finest storylines in modern gaming. Easily on par with the Arkham Series. The voice acting in this game is simply PHENOMENAL.
"You knew. You KNEW!" Absolute chills.
“You knew” the sound of betrayal made my skin crawl...
Anyone notice how this entire fight is a huge reference to the first Amazing Spider-Man film? Peter battles a supervillain on top of Oscorp Tower with there being the involvement of an antiserum and a city-wide epidemic (although in the movie he managed to prevent it).
I was thinking the same thing but I thought I was crazy
Their hole story is Peter/ Connors even to the point where the Doc uses the invention too early on himself because being impatient. But here every Moment of the Story felt great and better ;)
His damaged mask is also a reference to the damaged masked in the Tobey movies and the eyes for the anti ock suit are almost the same shapes as the ones on Tobey’s suit.
GASP! YOU"RE RIIIIIIIGHT!
Yeah and Peter made Connors a monster and Peter in this game made ock a monster too
Man, the last time he says "peter" really got to me. You could tell how desperate he was. I almost felt bad for him.
*Mordecai? Mordecai where are you going? Mordecai? MORDECAIIIII!*
I don't know why but Doc reminds me of Lester from GTA V
Spider-Man 2099 thought was the only one lol
It’s the hair lmao
Spider-Man 2099 Channel 2 Lester the Molester?
With all the tech and crap in that game im surprised they don't already have prosthetic arms
Yeah same he looks like Lester
The voice actor who plays doc ock absolutely nailed it...also the person who made his theme
It’s also Rigby from Regular Show lol
“You were everything I wanted to be!” This line right here, the delivery was so well executed it brought me to my emotions
I like that Rigby from Regular Show is Otto in this
beatlehair6720 wow really
Wait really!?!?
Da Boi Himself spade2187 Yeah, he’s William Salyers. If you picture Rigby doing all of this, it’s hilarious
beatlehair6720 after u told me I can hear rigby lol
It’s sound like rigby he’s villain in regular show
Doc Ock is my favorite Marvel villain. As a kid i always found him interesting. I never kept up with the cartoon that much tho. I loved him in Spiderman 2 and loved him even more in this game. Loved how he was the main villain in this as well! Loved his story in this game much better.

I like how during the fight on the side of the building the dialogue box switches between referring to him as Peter and Spider-Man depending on what is being said.
Talking about what’s good for the city or just trying to get Otto to back down peacefully=Spider-Man
Talking about the personal relationship they shared and how Otto’s actions are affecting the people he cares about=Peter
The way the theme amplifies during the wall fight is just spectacular. I get goosebumps every time.
This has become my favorite Doc Ock story line. It’s a perfect allegory for the good protege trying desperately to help their mentor who is struggling with addiction.
10:58-11:20 hit me I felt that in my heart
You know this game did a good job when it actually makes you feel sad, understand, and makes you shed a tear for the villain
One of the dangers of revenge, Lack of Clarity
This is my fav boss battle you can just feel peters pain 10/10 game
Is it me or you are the only one who made the wall fight so much more awesome?
This is the best variation of this fight in ny opinion!
I really hope they cast Yuri Lowenthal as the voice of Spidey more often. Throughout this whole game his performance knocks it right out of the park!
When it comes to video games
Yuri is 9/10 gone be spider man
This game actually managed to do Doc Ock far better than Raimi.
The part where you are on the side of the building, the marvelous theme song is blaring, only one can make it out victorious. GOOSEBUMPS
The conversation though out the fight is just heartbreaking. They had a strong bond and that bond was broken when Otto used Peter for his own evil mind. Such an amazing touch on this game as Otto as the final boss of the game
This was the most emotionally invested I've ever been in a video game Boss Level.
That’s cause his mind became too far damaged as a result of using the chip. Damage like that is not something that can be erased so easily
What an insane fight. almost 16 minutes long of nonstop action. Looks like a great game.
The conversation with them at the end backdoored with Aunt May was too much for people to handle
Marvel’s Spider-Man + Spider-Man Miles Morales = Perfection! Great job Insomniac!!
**Spoiler Alert**
During the game, about an hour before the endgame, Peter ask MJ when you should give up on a friend.
12:31 DAMN. Yuri is such a good voice actor!
“If you want to change the world, you have to be the kind of man to make the hardest decisions”
Love this quote, since Peter does take the advice in a way and chooses to replicate the anti-serum instead of saving Aunt May
13:51 *YOU WERE EVERYTHING I WANTED TO BE!*
Yuri goddam Lowenthal everyone, his voice acting in this game and especially in that scene was one of his greatest moments
Doctor Octopus is a villain that will always prove a great struggle for spiderman. This game and spiderman 2 (the movie) have proved that.
Bring back this Peter Parker,
This fight is amazing.
The worst betrayals are always done by the people you trust the most.
This fight was beyond epic and cinematic and a great way how to end of everything in a climatic way.
