FYI....the rubber hook on the bike rack that secures the bikes....you know those pesky socks that get lost in the dryer and you are left with no mate.....put that over the hook and it will prevent the rubber from scraping the cross bars on the bike. We have the same set up and had the paint rubbed off before we got the sock idea!
You’ve probably already dealt with the floor scrape, but here’s how to fix them until you can come up with matching flooring. Warm the area enough to soften the edges, pull them back just enough to work some adhesive under the flaps. Press them into place and apply a heavy weight. Let dry overnight. Mix some self-leveling epoxy and fill any voids or gaps. This will leave you with a smooth, level, sweepable surface.
Just wanted to say thanks, you guys were one of the great influencers at helping me get my wife behind being full time RVers. I was hoping to say it in person at the Rally but it didn't work out. Thanks!
Our Lectric bike rack tire wells are like the way that guy in the campround showed you. I wonder if that package had them wrong. The Hollywood racks have the end of the tire well turning up, not down. Good luck!
In real life, no matter what mode of house you live in...'stuff' happens ! The quality of the journey depends upon how you handle it. The question is five years from now which of these incidents will matter ? Thank you for sharing !
Wow! Sorry to hear about your floor. But I’m sure Grand Design could help you there Glad you you got AC going good now while on the road. Sorry about those bikes being damaged. Hopefully you can fix the bike rack problem. Glad they didn’t fall off. I can’t wait to see the video next week to see how you fit everything fixed. I I’ll wait until next week because I want to be surprised. That was so cute Marissa you all saying gods he to your mom. You have a great mom. You got me crying when you said good bye cause I thought it was sweet. You all are a sweet family. That’s why I watch your channel. Hope you all have a great Labor Day.
We tipped over the recliner to adjust something and they DENTED the soft vinyl floor. I thought it would spring back. 2 years and still dented. Same fix, a rug! Let us know what you end up with for a solid rack!
Had similar issue with torn floor laminate. We cut out and replaced a section of laminate. It started delaminating. Your best option is to have the floor patched. It will look seamless like new and will not delaminate.
We always make sure we vacuum under the slide flaps. Any little thing can get caught and with the weight of a slide, it will damage the floor pretty easily. Safe travels!
We have a couple of those DASH min-waffle makers and that's the only size waffles we make any more. We started using Bisquick to make our batter and it takes 2:30 per waffle, but they are nice and fluffy and you can add whatever extra flavoring you want to change-it-up each meal. Hopefully they can replace the damaged vinyl without taking up the whole floor. Have a safe and adventurous journey.
Maiden voyage in our Coachmen Brookstone 326RL....same floor plan as your Solitude....traveling from Temple, TX to Table Rock Lake, MO. Rough interstate roads caused our 40" Flat Panel TV above the fireplace to bounce off it's mount and crash to the floor in front of the fireplace. Needless to say it was a total loss....sure ruined an otherwise beautiful stay in a COE campground on Table Rock Lake. Somehow my wife didn't want to hear "it's all part of the journey"! LOL!
In regards to your bike rack issues: Even though the name of the rack is FulTyme RV Hitch Mount Bike rack, very few hitch mount bike racks are rated to be used on Motorhomes or trailers. This mainly has to do with the distance from the rear axle to the hitch itself. On a car or truck the distance between the rear axle and the bike carrier will probably not exceed 3 feet. Once you get on a motorhome or trailer the axle distance increases significantly and the amount of up and down swing on the rack is much greater. The rack is basically on the end of a long lever, and that multiplies the forces on the rack to a great degree. As for the wheel baskets that hold the bike on the rack: You did assemble the rack as shown by the manufacturer. However, I would flip the wheel baskets upside down, because of clearance issues with the rear derailleur on the bikes. Since the wheels are 20" on those bikes, the derailleur is very close to the ground, and with the baskets in the "up" position your derailleurs will be pinched inside the wheel basket. Flipping the wheel basket "down" will prevent that from happening. My wife and I have two V1.0 Lectric XP's and haul them behind a Honda Pilot using the very beefy Hollywood Racks Sports Rider SE and that rack is still not rated for Fifth Wheels or Travel Trailers. And I did flip the wheel baskets over so that we won't damage the derailleurs.
Tom at General RV Birch Run, MI can fix that and never know it happened. Our Montana with wood plank look he fixed in like under an hour and cannot find mark anymore. He also fixed a 2 foot v shaped rip as well for a friend. He is amazing with RV issues
Yep, small rock got us also in almost the same spot. Turns out that the very popular On Cloud running shoes sole design with a valley down the middle is great at picking up pea size gravel and then dropping them off where you don't want them. Added rock check to the departure list before putting the slides in and checking up under the flooring flaps on our 375RES.
1:49, You haven’t experienced standing comfort until you’ve tried the Ergo Kneel Extreme Standing Mat! They’re not pretty, but OMG there’s nothing better! I own several for different areas/tasks.
We had a small wooden toy car stuck under the flap in almost the exact same spot! Total bummer! It was our first major ding too! Our rug covers it and we haven’t tried to fix it yet.
Sandra Westley uk, these things happen, we packing up our brand new caravan last week, it was hot here in the uk we don’t have things like aircon so had the windows wind open, my husband was pulling pegs from the ground sheet and came up and smashed his head on the window, which snapped off the corner of the brand new window, we have taped it on for now and got some special bonding glue in the hope we can glue the corner back on, if not it’s a brand new window we will need. 🥴🙀🙀
☹️ sorry about your floor and bike. Thank you for being transparent in sharing it! Enjoy the Rally! We went to a small one a few years ago, it was wonderful! 🖖🏻😘🙏🏻👍🏻
Same thing happened to our floor, it was a tiny rock that we didn’t see until we opened back up. 🤦🏼♀️ We we’re able to fix it by smoothing it down and using an epoxy glue. Good luck!
Same here, we had a screw under the slide that had popped out slightly and gouged our floor one of the first times we put the slide out. We took it back to the dealer and they were able to smooth it and put some sort of clear epoxy on it. Really can’t see it anymore and it’s held up well for about 4 years now.
That is frustrating about the floor, but you didn’t know that something was going to cause it. I know that kind of frustration, a tree branch hit and scratch up the passenger side of my car during a storm over a year ago, and someone with a red vehicle put some more dents right about where that tree hit. Plus others have scratched up my car in various places. How good were the instructions any way? Some suck and don’t explain how to put together something. I was sorry about your new bikes getting marks on them. Hope the rest of your trip goes better.
When we brought our 2022 Reflection 337RLS home and put out the slides a screw had came out during the travel and did the same thing. Hopefully it’s an easy fix. Already sent it into GD warranty.
The floor, try and smooth it out and use a good linoleum glue and maybe a cloth and iron lightly over top heat seal it? Shelley's idea! The bike rack so sorry! Ouchy but I like the we are off road professionals!😜
Maybe you can find a matching “plank” piece under a cabinet. Cut out plank, and replace the bad piece. Or, any vinyl flooring installer can repair your floor. Don’t worry, that’s just stuff, and an education. Lol
Well guys you know what they say, feces occurs. It's a bummer to get the first big gack in something but it's bound to happen if you actually use it. In the long run it's a very small price to pay for what you get in return. Keep the good stuff coming and give the kids a hug for me.
if it makes you two feel any better my wife and I BOTH had that OMG moment with the floor and me being super OCD well the scratched bikes finished off the evening. Floor can be fixed patches at the factory. BTW love the oriental look. Bikes when you get home a good Cookville Autobody shop could touch them up. Maybe Ebike has the decal kits and paint. Now when you get serious toss the Walmart rack and buy American. 1up USA you will never ever be sorry or again fret the bikes getting damaged. However I would have the RV bumper hitch reciever reinforced by your local welding shop. Your daughters face had that oh were did you find this look! We had seen that look before. especially with grandkids.
We were at the rally, wish we could have met you all. Been watching your family for a few years, gosh that sounds creepy. Lol, more junk less journey, so true
I have had my regular bike bounce off the rack while traveling I use a chain and lock to prevent theft but it's literally saved my bikes from hitting the highway
Hey old timers..;) Just catching up a bit on traveling friends and see you are fighting a battle I fought when we first hit the road - trying to carry bikes on the back of the 5th wheel. I had 4 regular bikes which probably weighed about the same or more than your eBikes - but no matter what I tried back there to strengthen the rack ultimately failed due to the oscillation/bouncing of the rear of the trailer (even steel winch cable to eyebolts with cable tighteners between the rack and trailer frame). I looked at all the solutions and finally decided I didn't want to risk losing the bikes on the road with traffic behind us - could be ugly. I ended up with a roof rack on the truck. It was expensive (~ $1200.00 IIRC) took work to get the bikes up and down (best way was three of us doing a bike brigade from the ground to the truck roof), but they rode well up there, didn't hear them, didn't affect MPG, etc. It worked out nicely - if we wanted to drive somewhere to go biking we didn't have to move the bikes first. Good luck on your solution!
Cooling down the rig is a great idea on travel day.If it just ran the last hour of travel that would do it too--right?Will have to try it.BTW,the thing that messed up the floor is a bead off a necklace or bracelet.
Sorry if I misunderstood but the black tank flush should never result in filling fresh tank. I believe the fresh and black tank flush should never have any physical connection for sanitation purposes. Even with a one way check valve between them as these are very prone to failure. If it is filling the fresh tank when you use a black tank flush then this scenario may result in cross contamination so I would check with GD to make sure there is no plumbing errors (??). I am not an expert but and never owned a big trailer(currently have a Passport 239ML) so there may be some designs I am ignorant about but this sounds very wrong IMHO.
Who films the filmers filming the filmers? LOL. OOooh, that's my kind of science, trying to cool down the rig so it's not so hot upon arrival, I Love it. Maybe I do need to have Mike and Leanne install some battle born's in our RV.
As a bonafide self proclaimed expert, and father of 3 kids, when you asked Hensley if she knew what that was and she went “oh…. Yeah I don’t know “. Trust me, she knows what it is. LoL
I think you've learned why most bike racks aren't travel trailer/5th wheel rated. There needs to be some bike rack manufacturers step up, grow some balls, and make some heavy duty racks. I bought a yakima hanging rack that is rated properly but it sucks. Bikes hard to get on, too close, scratches them, etc.
Don't worry a battery did that to me too😭poor floor. I had a whole tooth brush come out once and literally no one owned it had to off been there for a long time
Weird that you could overfill your water tank. My Lance has an over flow thing where that's impossible to do. Seems like you could install an after market in line diverter (to the ground) to keep that from ever happening again.
I would not have a bike rack like that for two electric bikes.. look at a bike rack from the company Hollywood racks , there's some others you just need something to hold heavier electric bikes.
Yep, we sure appreciated you taking a hit with that bike rack so we don't have to try our month old Aventons on that thing. 😳 Let us know how the new one works out. We are still looking for an appropriate in-stock and NOT ridiculously expensive rack that won't fail with our 49 pound a piece e-bikes bouncing behind the fiver...
Don't worry about running your lithium battery's down too 50%. They WILL LIVE LONGER IF YOU USE THEM IN THE 25% TO 75% RANGE They DO NOT LIKE 100% except for short periods when you know you need the top rated capacity. So use them down to 25% before charging and stop short of full charge, unless you know you will run the AC for a full 6 hour drive day. CHEERS Steve h.
Loved this!! Quick question - my husband wants to know how you can run the a/c while driving? He said when we drive and put it on battery power it’s only enough to power the fridge and lights. Do you have something special?
We have a large lithium battery bank and an inverter with enough power to handle the AC. Here is a video on our set up if you are interested. ua-cam.com/video/0BmmcE9UDSg/v-deo.html
The bike rack may be able to withstand X amount of static weight as advertised, but you have to figure in the G-forces at work when you hit bumps on the road, bouncing the bikes up & down. THERE'S the issue! /Take it from someone who's owned several bike racks over the years. Been there, done that!
Doesn't your water tank have a drain valve? Just pull it maybe? Oh wait, bet you don't want the ground under the RV wet. My Grand Design Reflection 337RLS does not fill the water tank when I use the flush system. It has a separate connection for the flush.
Great to see you again guys. Cant believe what a tiny piece of whatever it was did to your beautiful floor 😲 I did think to myself put a rug over it 😅🤣. And those scratches on the electric bikes. It's all a day in the life of LJMJ. I guarantee everytime we have something new there will always be a scratch or a mark that appears. ❤❤🤗🤗🇬🇧
Oh, you poor guys! We recommend you get a bike carrier rated for the back of an RV. My husband uses a torque wrench (required) on the five bolts that stop any movement on ours, and we check it regularly. The backs of RVs whip up and down violently, so very few carriers can handle the torques! Ours is the most expensive Swagman, and Kuat and Thule sell a few, also. Good luck!
That floor scrape thing happened to your friends Finding Our Someday. I remember which is a surprise itself.
Yes it’s a hazard if the lifestyle
FYI....the rubber hook on the bike rack that secures the bikes....you know those pesky socks that get lost in the dryer and you are left with no mate.....put that over the hook and it will prevent the rubber from scraping the cross bars on the bike. I-65 between Nashville and Louisville is such peaceful non stressful drive

I’m passing through Cookeville tomorrow on my way to Pigeon Forge. I know you won’t be there but I’ll wave as I pass through.
That sounds great 😀

sorry to hear about the scuff marks
I love that you came through my hometown of louisville Ky
I will remember to check my slide next time, so I can learn from your experience
Yes, turns out it's a good idea. 😀
I absolutely love all of your videos. I have learned alot from watching you all. Sending many prayers for safe travels. GOD BLESS YOUR SWEET FAMILY.
Had similar issue with torn floor laminate. We cut out and replaced a section of laminate. It started delaminating. Your best option is to have the floor patched. It will look seamless like new and will not delaminate.
I had a thought.., but one of those pool noodles cut in half then slice open. Wrap that around the bike where it rubbed and got scratched
We always make sure we vacuum under the slide flaps. Any little thing can get caught and with the weight of a slide, it will damage the floor pretty easily. Safe travels!
Very true as we are finding out 😀
YOU GUYS HAVE FUN AT THE RALLEY

Concerning the bike rack……. I’ll reference your quote: “You get what you pay for” ! lol
Hey! We love you guys! You have inspired us to start our own Channel!
Congratulations! 😀
Started watching with the Airstream. Been RV’ers since 73 and enjoy your trips & trips. Keep it up😊
Awesome! Thank you!

We have a teardrop TAB400…we used to have a 32’ fifth wheel back in 2000… LOL! 😆 no more kids and downsized even more.
We ordered a floor, found a matching section and removed the damaged area and glued the new section down.
That is awesome!
I would just patch that floor ding and put a rug over it! No way I would replace the whole floor.

Loved the video. Sorry about your bikes and floor. Blessings
Thanks! Part of the Journey ❤️
1:49, You haven’t experienced standing comfort until you’ve tried the Ergo Kneel Extreme Standing Mat! They’re not pretty, but OMG there’s nothing better! I own several for different areas/tasks.
Try heating the vinyl with a hair dryer or heat gun. It makes the vinyl pliable and try smoothing it down. A little glue to hold it down.
Hope you have a have a better time at the rally. With camping you live and learn.

Sorry for the floor. But thanks for the info on it. We just got a 2022 Momentum 397TH. We have the same flooring.
Yes a lesson learned, check under the flaps. 🙂
We had a fallen AA battery slip under our slide and ripped our floor too. 😫 We smoothed it out and put a piece of clear tape over it for now. 🤷🏼♀️
Same thing happened to our floor, it was a tiny rock that we didn’t see until we opened back up. 🤦🏼♀️ We we’re able to fix it by smoothing it down and using an epoxy glue. Good luck!
You beat me to it Stephanie. We had a stone as well. We tried to smooth it down but haven’t really fixed it yet. Want to see what Natan found out.
Same here, we had a screw under the slide that had popped out slightly and gouged our floor one of the first times we put the slide out. We took it back to the dealer and they were able to smooth it and put some sort of clear epoxy on it. Really can’t see it anymore and it’s held up well for about 4 years now.
Nice tip.
I love rocks and seem to pick some up from every trip...so I joined the ' damaged floor' club when one of my rocks got caught under the slide.
Thanks. We had some friends there for one of the caravan companies, Fantasy I believe.
Sorry about the floor it happen to us as well. A piece of hardware from the factory that got loose.
That is frustrating about the floor, but you didn’t know that something was going to cause it. I know that kind of frustration, a tree branch hit and scratch up the passenger side of my car during a storm over a year ago, and someone with a red vehicle put some more dents right about where that tree hit. Our e bike rack cost over 400.00 the bike store said you had to make sure the rack is RV and e bike rated we never had a problem..
Just found you guys, and I'm glad we did!
Awesome, welcome. We are also on Facebook and Instagram and new videos every Sunday. 😀
Back on the road, whooo hoooo! Missed you guys. Hate that you had some issues but glad y'all made it safe.
Nathan, might already be mentioned, if you removed the batteries, wouldn't it lessen the weight on the rack for both bikes?
LJMJ sure had a trying start; hopefully things get better. Have a wonder week at the Grand Design RV Rally!
Not an RVer but will "live and learn" and I'm sure that's how is for RVers also. Have fun in Elkhart - til later - take care.......
The floor, try and smooth it out and use a good linoleum glue and maybe a cloth and iron lightly over top heat seal it? Shelley's idea! The bike rack so sorry! Ouchy but I like the we are off road professionals!😜
I love the comment "it's all a part of the journey". My "part of the journey" is costing us $3500 when the RV goes to the body shop in November. 😬
Yep, it's all part of the journey.
Ouch!!
Maybe you can find a matching “plank” piece under a cabinet. Cut out plank, and replace the bad piece. Or, any vinyl flooring installer can repair your floor. Don’t worry, that’s just stuff, and an education. Lol
We found a fix and will update it in this Sunday's video 😀
It's only the first scratch/stain/rip that hurts, after that they are badges of honor, well that is how it goes on a 4X4.
Well guys you know what they say, feces occurs. It's a bummer to get the first big gack in something but it's bound to happen if you actually use it. In the long run it's a very small price to pay for what you get in return. Keep the good stuff coming and give the kids a hug for me.

I have had my regular bike bounce off the rack while traveling I use a chain and lock to prevent theft but it's literally saved my bikes from hitting the highway
I'm wondering on the floor too???? We have a tare in ours ugh. Similar situation :(
I used to have that same little waffle maker....took FOREVER to cook one waffle. It's cute and small but not worth the time lol I got rid of it!
Oh nooo! So sorry for the little dings!! Looking forward to seeing how you resolve them. Excited for this road trip too🤗 Safe travels you guys!
Thank you so much.
Hey old timers..;) Just catching up a bit on traveling friends and see you are fighting a battle I fought when we first hit the road - trying to carry bikes on the back of the 5th wheel. I know the rally is over but I hope you have (had) time to ride the Pumpkinvine trail with your ebikes!
I think you've learned why most bike racks aren't travel trailer/5th wheel rated. There needs to be some bike rack manufacturers step up, grow some balls, and make some heavy duty racks. Awesome... we store our mac on the bed as well due to the roads... looking forward to meeting you guys in Jan at the creator conference.
Hope the tech's were able to get you sorted out.. We were the couple with the large white fluffy dog.
Look at it like this…you got the first (or second) big ding out of the way.
Our slide ripped a Chunk out of the bedroom floor. Currently using duct tape and a rug! Stuff happens!
Don't worry a battery did that to me too😭poor floor. I had a whole tooth brush come out once and literally no one owned it had to off been there for a long time
We sell ebikes ( Pedego) and you need a Thule rack..
Weird that you could overfill your water tank. My Lance has an over flow thing where that's impossible to do. Seems like you could install an after market in line diverter (to the ground) to keep that from ever happening again.
I think by “over filled” they just mean they accidentally put more in it than they wanted to have in it for a travel day
I would not have a bike rack like that for two electric bikes.. look at a bike rack from the company Hollywood racks , there's some others you just need something to hold heavier electric bikes.
Yeah Louisville roads are bad. Next time take the East end Bridge (265) and avoid downtown.
Ok, we really need information where 2 order Awning Arms my husband open up & didn't close it & big gusts of wind took it off 🤨
Hi there, you need to order awning arms for your RV? Any RV dealer that carries your brand should be able to help you.
I'm the wife who is asking not Mr.Caspary lol 😆
Don't worry about running your lithium battery's down too 50%. They WILL LIVE LONGER IF YOU USE THEM IN THE 25% TO 75% RANGE They DO NOT LIKE 100% except for short periods when you know you need the top rated capacity. So use them down to 25% before charging and stop short of full charge, unless you know you will run the AC for a full 6 hour drive day. CHEERS Steve h.
I just love you guys. We are in Virginia, I hope to run into you all someday. We aren’t full time but hoping to travel 50% someday. ♥️
We would love that!
How irritating! nothing worse that damaging your Rig! Like you say it’s all part of the journey 😁
All those things 🙃 but I'm here for the toilet seat 🙋♀️ we did just "upgrade" our toilet but the stupid potty seat is annoying. 😏
The kids one we have?
Loved this!! Quick question - my husband wants to know how you can run the a/c while driving? He said when we drive and put it on battery power it’s only enough to power the fridge and lights. Do you have something special?
We have a large lithium battery bank and an inverter with enough power to handle the AC. Here is a video on our set up if you are interested. ua-cam.com/video/0BmmcE9UDSg/v-deo.html
That highway through Louisville is one of the worst!
Oops 😳 oh no the floor & the bike’s & bike rack. Oh well things happen, hope it doesn’t take much to fix it all🤗
The bike rack may be able to withstand X amount of static weight as advertised, but you have to figure in the G-forces at work when you hit bumps on the road, bouncing the bikes up & down.
Thanks so much! 😊
Good luck!
Sorry, but as with comments already made, there are ways to lessen the floor damage to almost unnoticeable. Safe Travels.
You'd be surprised how a pro could make a great repair of the floor even without a sacrificial piece of sheet good...
How often do you use your bikes?
We just got them but so far often.
Put a sticker here, put a sticker there, put a sticker everywhere. 👍🏻🤣♥️
I gotta say, I’m way impressed it took that long for a big RV ding! Now it’s officially your home though, right? Lol
😂Right
Should be able to cut in a small patch on floor
You're at the Grand Design RV Rally so you'll probably find answers to those problems! #ToBeContinued
