I grew up on the mainland living with my Tutus(who grew up in Honolulu). Listening to your show reminds me of them. Love your show, so funny! Mahalo, keep up the good work.
I just discovered you on UA-cam and I'm hooked. Have to watch a few clips every single day. I grew up in Kalihi and used the following phrases all the time: Make A, Bus Ass, Hotcha. Don't know if you already covered them. I'll continue to pray for you to be healed. God Bless You, you are special!
Andy, I just thought of one. When I first moved to Oregon, I heard people use 'pop' to refer to what I grew up knowing as 'soda', as in a soft drink. Keep up the good work Andy! Al in Aloha, OR.
Mahalo Andy. Another great show! I hope you never run out of material. I look forward to watching everyday. I might have been born a Hoosier but I think my soul came from Hawaii.
Eh, Andy. I still use those words here in Orange County..lol. My wife always say "Geev'em" all the time, but in a different context like when my adult kids like something. Geev'em da money, Geev'em da car or Geev'em da motorcycle. I said NOT da motorcycle. That's my pride and joy--geez! Anyway, keep the great work on the Daily Pidgin, bruddah!
My friend dem still said geev um when we watched da Trojans play in mililani over 15 years ago. And make house... fakkkkk I nevah heard that one long time! 🤙
I was working at Musashiya at Ala Moana Center in college when I first learned only people in Hawai'i say "package" for the bag you put things you buy in. When I asked a tourist from the Mainland if she wanted a package, she was confused, and then told me I meant a "sack."

That's so so hilarious "package". I had no idea that only locals use that. Even "Make House" so funny. Actually everything in this show is so funny!
+Lucy Lai Mahalo Lucy. It's fun to learn and laugh at the same time.
Still remember at UH football games they used to put that big sweeping fist that went across the screen followed "geev um" after a big play.
Always put a smile on my face. Mahalo Andy!

Local peepo on da mainland still use "geev'em" plenny.
+Kory Tideman I didn't know that. Mahalo.
+Andy Bumatai , folks in da Hawaiian diaspora tend to maintain older expressions and music. Dey like maintain connection to small kid time.
I remember "package deal" meaning one invite means all 15 members of family..."pau already" meaning surf meet ovah, li dat
"Geev em!" seems to be in current usage on Maui. ʻSpecially by sports coaches and cockaroach exterminator clients.
Andy, Get well. I'm not sure if you covered 'poi' in your Daily Pidgin videos, but it may be a good one. Take care.

How I going study for one pop quiz?!?
+Chris Slack Uh.. that would be the joke. Sorry, maybe a little to out there. Plus, announcing a "pop" quiz sort of defeats the purpose too. Ha!
+Andy Bumatai I know, just joking on the joke.
