Please be mindful that my disclaimer at the beginning is my opinion of the game after playing it for almost 47 hours by now (most of that time after 30 hours was shaved down thanks to mods). This is not a direct attack at Frontier or fans of the game, but I chose to be brutally honest about my feelings towards the game and don't want to mislead my audience into thinking that I endorse a product I don't believe is fairly priced. With all that said and done, I hope you guys enjoy this mod showcase! Might do more in the future when more mods come out, we'll see.
They apparently didn't get the memo that we wanted a game where you could jump in, get everything and just sit there watching them move and interact like in JPOG. They're taking this game into a more micromanagy sorta thing when that's not what most people want. I don't wanna go through the story mode for 30 hours while having to set up electricity, manage scientists and worry about who likes and doesn't like you for unlocking shit. I just wanna watch some fuckin' dinosaurs. JPOG even had cheat codes and site B because they knew what people wanted, to watch dinos either in a park or in nature without having to worry about actually running the damn thing.
Personally I wouldn't mind a proper balance between unlocking animals and enjoying them. I feel like JWE1 with all its flaws at launch did a better job of doing that than this game did.
I think you were dead right with your critique of the game. It feels like they really went above and beyond in makings things uncessarily harder to challenge the players. For instance, the snowstorms in canada (playing the challenge) do nothing except drain your money and the storm protection is locked behind a few upgrades so you either have to not enjoy the dinosaurs or suffer losing money throughout half of it. Its just not as fun to play as the base game, sandbox excluded.
Obviously Mesozoica lol, but I will say that imo there isn't any excuse for JWE2 to be in the state that it's in given that it had a much longer development cycle than JWE1 did.

As someone who is rather adamant about accuracy, having these mod options is a godsend

Do the first JWE game with mods, somehow that one seems way better… might be because I got it on gamepass
I did and enjoyed it quite a lot. Not gonna bother with either once Prehistoric Kingdom's beta comes out
